Bit of nostalgia at the beach. Lovely one bedroom one full bath suite in 1860 farmhouse surrounded by lovely gardens, screened in porch. Walk to bay beach, short bike ride to ocean, bicycle, kayak, jet ski rentals. Close to Montauk and North shore with wineries and organic farm stands. Grill and firepit, abundance of lawn games, yoga and meditation studio.
Margaret was the perfect hostess. The house was interesting and artistic and the breakfasts delicious. The accommodations were comfortable with everything you need plus provided!
Our host Margaret shared with us something that is most precious when travelling: an opportunity to experience her part of the world, to discover something new while still feeling at home. We will keep fond memories of the Hamptons, as she made us see them and appreciate them as she does.
Margaret was so VERY accommodating and added special touches to make our anniversary awesome. Everything was freshly made from fruit breads to egg dishes Iâd expect to get at a 5 star restaurant made with fresh eggs from her chickens and veggies from her garden. We felt like family in her home. We canât wait to go back!!!! Great location to explore both forks!
Margaret is just wonderful. We felt like we were staying at a dear family memberâs home. Stayed in her very private upstairs suite and it was perfect for me, my wife and our pup. He had a blast running around the yard, meeting the chickens going to the bay beach etc. We had the best time! Thank you Margaret!!
Margaret's place is a true gem. From the moment my partner and I stepped in, her warm hospitality delighted us, starting with a delicious snack upon arrival. The artistic charm of her home, adorned with books and eclectic design, made for a cozy retreat. The private guest suite provided comfort and charm that exceeded our expectations.
Margaret was wonderful; greeted us with a healthy and delicious snack when we arrived Friday afternoon. Her home is incredibly warm and pleasant - lots of art, books, and eclectic design. The front porch was an excellent place to read, with the ocean breeze blowing gently and consistently. We were in the Hamptons for a wedding and ended up enjoying our lodging just as much as the wedding!
Margaret is a warm and generous host! Her home is an escape to a lovely secret garden, and is conveniently located. The gorgeous beach is short drive away, but day passes aren't available at this time. Violavender will leave you refreshed!
We were visiting the Hamptons and meeting up with family. We loved the setting and the house has so much charm. Margaret is a wonderful host and the morning breakfasts were delightful. The room was upstairs and it is an old home. So you have to be ok with climbing steps. We didnât mind. The location was exactly what we wanted. Away from crazy and a great walk to Shinicock Bay. Thanks for a great few days!
I am grateful to God that we found this lovely place. First Margeret is wonderful, big heart and so kind and generous. The room was wonderful, she thought of every single detail and even more. We could not have asked for a better place.
The garden is BEAUTIFUL, the highlight is her herb garden and the fresh eggs from the chickens. The smoothies she made were out of this word and the patio a delight to have our meals at.
Its the most wonderful place we have been to
We can't wait to get back !
Margaret goes above and beyond as a host. She made me and my son feel very cared for. From picking us up at the train to greeting us with snacks, a fresh smoothie and toys for my son, she really went the extra mile. We enjoyed seeing (and smelling) the lovely herb garden, feeding chickens and collecting their eggs for a delicious breakfast. She found activities and restaurants to suit us and gave everyone the heads up we were coming and were given a warm welcome everywhere. This is clearly a labor of love.
Staying at Margaretâs Hampton Bays cottage will beyond exceed your expectations! Home cooked (fresh!) meals, a serene back yard with chickens and a garden, 15-20 min walk to a quiet private beach (depending on how much time you take to leisurely browse local yard sales and/or stop for a beer at The Station along the way), the charm of a home with a history dating back to 1860, all underpinned by lively conversation with Margaret herself. The whole experience has felt like a warm hugâgood for the soul.
I came for a quiet weekend solo ahead of my 39th birthday and will never forget this wonderful experience. Thank you, Margaret!
Our host was perfect - very nice lady and very accommodating but the property is in pretty bad shape. It's an old house in need of lots of repairs and upgrades. For example, no plug-in the bathroom??Door to bedroom doesn't shut all the way.Holes in screens so you can't really sleep with the windows open.
Our host went out of her way to meet all our needs and more. Called beforehand to find out about dietary restrictions and then created a host of delicious dishes that took those dietary restrictions into account. We didnât quite realize that we would be the only guests in her homeâ but that resulted in a great deal of special attention with lots of thought to what will make for a comfortable and memorable stay.
Adorable and eclectic space in a very convenient location. Margaret was a responsive and accommodating host however she smokes outside which may bother some.
From the moment we met, Margaret welcomed us into her home with open arms. Her historic home is beautifully decorated, clean, and charming with a private guest suite. The entire property is stunning, and it's convenient to fun bars, restaurants, and beaches in town. We were looking forward to the farm to table meals, but we had no idea that was just the start of her hospitality. She went above and beyond in making us feel welcome, and she was truly the highlight of our stay.
The title sounds cheesy, but that is in fact the best description of Margaret's home. My wife and I had each just come off a very hectic month at work and Margaret's home was just what we needed. Tidy, quiet and inviting. Margaret herself is an amazing person and my wife and I enjoyed meeting her. The breakfast provided each morning was out of this world. Very delicious. I can't say enough good things about our stay or our host. We look forward to staying at her home again soon.
This is the 2nd year weâve stayed at Margaretâs cedar shingle house from 1860. We love it and the architectural details in this home. We ate our breakfast on a lovely screened in porch watching the butterflies. Margaret has many flower beds, chickens, and a beautiful vegetable garden. Thereâs beaches close by and itâs not far from the tourist spots. We will definitely stay with Margaret next year when we visit Long Island.
This is our 2nd time at this charming spot. We stayed at Violavender a couple of summers ago and we loved Margaret's place so much the first time we came back ! Host is very helpful. Clean ! Great for couple
Margaret, the owner of this home, is amazing. She welcomed us at arrival with delicious snacks, showed us around the property, and made us feel completely at home. The house is in a great location, close to many activities, and restaurants.
We will definitely be back!
Margaretâs house is a very warming and comfortable place, and Margaret is adorable. We had a great time with our baby, Margaret provided us with everything that we needed and helped us finding nice places around. The house is very clean, the garden is a piece of paradise, and there are so many nice things to explore around. Weâd definitely get back to Margaretâs place. Thanks for everything!
Margaret was a wonderful hostess and took great care of us! Her home is centrally located in the Hamptons and very close to beautiful beaches. I look forward to staying with her again.
The Violavendar was everything and more as seen online!
If you appreciate the soul, a spiritual safe haven and classics w a lavender feel with natureâs beauty...this is the place for you...itâs a gem of ny away from the City.... me and my girls loved it and our oasisđ
We had a wonderful stay at Margaretâs house. She was very welcoming and took us on a tour of her lovely home and gardens. Her home was built in 1860 and is architecturally beautiful with many detailed bookshelves, woodwork and original doors. I love her shabby chic, antique, and artsy decor. We enjoyed hanging out on the porches and using the outdoor shower. Margaret made us a delicious light breakfast before we headed out daily. We will definitely be back.
