Le surfcaster - plage de pikowai, whakatane

Situé sur la magnifique côte de la baie de Plenty, entre Whakatane et Papamoa, à quelques pas de la route menant à une plage de sable blanc et à l’océan bleu étincelant - une Mecque du surf populaire. Notre maison de vacances à Pikowai est un lieu de séjour idéal pour les familles ou les groupes.

La maison est une maison de style ancien - une ferme originale construite dans les années 1950 avec cinq chambres (2 chambres ont leur propre petite salle de bain), une salle de bain principale et un choix d'espaces de vie, la maison est spacieuse avec un grand espace extérieur pour explorer ou jouer. Il est situé sur une section surélevée afin que vous puissiez profiter d'une vue imprenable sur la mer. Détendez-vous au bord de la piscine, préparez vos plats au barbecue et dégustez nos produits frais dans le verger et le jardin végétal.
Une canne de surf casting est fournie pour votre usage. S'il vous plaît BYO appât.

Dans les environs, profitez des activités abondantes que le district de Whakatane et la baie de Plenty ont à offrir: chartes de pêche et pêche au gros, VTT, observation des dauphins et des baleines, excursions sur les volcans marins de l’île blanche, fermes del Berry, eau vive le rafting, les superbes plages, l'équitation, les traitements de beauté, les piscines chaudes, les promenades et randonnées, le surf, le paintball, les magasins, le golf et bien plus encore!

Situé entre Whakatane (20 minutes en voiture) et Papamoa (30 minutes en voiture), il existe une multitude d’endroits à visiter ou à faire vos emplettes si vous le souhaitez.
Matata est à 5 minutes en voiture et fournit les dépanneurs les plus proches, une station-service, une aire de jeux, 2 petits cafés, un pub local, un magasin d’alcool et des plats à emporter

**Notez s'il vous plaît:
- La piscine n'est pas utilisable en hiver (avril / mai jusqu'à fin novembre)
- La réception pour téléphone portable (Spark) est limitée mais est généralement disponible sur la pelouse avant (parfois par la fenêtre avant) de la propriété mais il n'y a pas beaucoup à l'intérieur de la maison **

Excellent holiday stay

We had a lovely family holiday returning to this home. The pool is great and the separate living areas give plenty of space for young children to play. Stunning views out to the ocean.

Peaceful Pikowai

For our family of 4 adults and 3 children this beautiful home was perfect, with plenty of rooms to sneak away too and many little nooks in the whare where was always somewhere to go for a bit of peace when needed hehe. The humongous dining table was a favorite feature, the heart of the home that allowed us to share many scrumptious meals over and indulge in a very loud night of family games lol Although the typical Aotearoa weather and rain was almost a constant throughout our whole stay the pool was still a hit and kept our tamariki busy throught our stay. One recommendation I would make though is to perhaps get a dryer or have an inside line so guests can dry washing if it's raining, luckily Whakatāne is just a quick trip away and we could pop over there to do our washing. Overall our stay was beautiful, peaceful, the views were amazing, Pikowai's very own gem x

Beautiful spot, perfect for family holidays

What a gorgeous spot overlooking the sea. The house is just perfect for big groups of families and friends. We enjoyed cooking communal meals in the big, well-equipped kitchen, and enjoyed swimming in the big pool. This was one of the best rental experiences I’ve ever had - lovely interactions with the hosts and groundskeepers, the place was clean and cozy, and the location was just what we wanted. The beach across the road is not safe for swimming, but gorgeous for walking, and it’s only a short drive to whakatane and ohope. Thank you so much for having us, Cathy, Mark and Jordyn! We hope to return soon.

Family get away

Cathy was amazing to deal with and very helpful. This place is perfect if you want to really get away from it all. Very quiet and private. The beach is a small walk across the road and over the train tracks. The view from the Pa site is awesome too and a nice little walk up the hill.

This place was the perfect home away from home. Hosts are very easy to communicate with!! Pool was perfect for our getaway and the view was everything. Wish we stayed longer but would definitely visit again!!

Great family spot

Beautiful view and amazing warm pool with big front yard made for a lot of fun! Nice big place meant multiple families stayed together and had a great time. Kitchen had everything we needed and toys for kids, kids plates etc was nice too. Would definitely stay again, was a real home away from home feel. Thank you!

Amazing stay

A huge thank you for letting us stay in your holiday home. What a Fantastic view and great pool- the kids loved it. The house was Nice and clean, kid friendly and house had everything you need. Wonderful house, but not "beachfront"

The property is wonderful, with great view, but is definitely not a "short stroll from the beach" in fact we had to cross the highway and a railway to get there. The house itself is very spacious, well maintained and clean. We've been two families with total of 4 adults and 5 children (6-14) and had a great time. The pool was great but it would be nice to actually have the lounger seen on the photos.

Review

Wonderful property, spacious and safe for young ones. Really handy location too. A real gem for a relaxed stay. A bit of a surprise to find that there was a main road and a railway track to cross for beach access, but this added to the adventure and the kids got a kick out of watching the trains from the safety of their lofty perch on the front lawn. Having the pool available really added to the enjoyment. Thank you for sharing !

Stunning home, land and view

This property was everything we wished for and more. Stunning huge house with everything needed for great family meals, children’s entertainment, toys and books, beautiful views to wake up to and fall asleep to. Mark and Cathy were kind to let us rummage through the orchards and pick fruit. We loved our stay.

What a lovely place to enjoy a family getaway!

We stayed over during the Oxfam Trailwalker weekend. Although it was a short stay it is the ideal size for a family getaway with all the necessary creature comforts. The view of the sea from the dining room table and the bay window is stunning. We even had fresh figs from the very big tree in the garden! A highly recommended place to stay if the family wants to explore the district and come back to a peaceful place at the end of the day.

Home away from the terrible cold in America

This was our very first trip to New Zealand, and what a wonderful trip we had. One thing that made this trip so wonderful was the beautiful home we had to rent for a week. The home was quaint, clean, and perfect for everyone in our group to spread out and have their own space. Another plus was the sweet couple (caretakers) who lived in the back yard in their own separate home. It was nice to know they were there in case we needed any help or questions answered. They were always very accessible. We are the type of people who like to stay in and cook our own meals when traveling, the kitchen was very workable, and was stocked with many items that helped to prepare our own meals. We also travel with a toddler, and there were toys, and books for him to play with and keep him occupied. The beds were amazing, and so comfortable after a long day of traveling/site seeing. Lastly, the location was absolutely gorgeous. It's located at the top of a small hill over looking the vast ocean. There is green grass to run and play on, and the pool was an added plus. My one little concern/complaint is that it wasn't really a place to let a toddler run around alone, and someone needed to be with him at all times. I wouldn't even say that is a complaint! The pool is locked up and completely idiot proof - so much so, that we had to walk to the caretakers and ask for help to open the gate. But that is a good thing! The location is very close to the city of Whakatane, but was a bit of a drive to other hot destinations throughout New Zealand. If you are just staying on the east coast of New Zealand then this is the house to rent. It truly was a home away. And a home away from the bitter cold we have this time of year in America. If we ever get back to the north island this will be a place we stay again, and again. Thank you so much for opening up your sweet home, we truly enjoyed our time here.

Beautiful views, close to the beach, surrounded by pohutukawa trees and a lovely feel to the property. The house had a nice relaxed bach feel, the beds were super comfy, showers were amazing and the pool kept the kids and adults entertained for hours. Would love to come back :-)

Eight of us - four adults and four children - had plenty...

Eight of us - four adults and four children - had plenty of space and plenty of comfort (with space to spare). Wonderful setting, great views, great facilities.

The house is the original farm homestead for an old dairy farm, which was subdivided around 30 years ago. It then became an organic Angus stud for a short period of time then turned into the 'Pohutukawa B&B' which operated for a number of years. We purchased the property in 2016 and love sharing it with others to enjoy over the summer
