Nestled along the Skootamatta River, built 2019 - Peaceful Cozy Cottage on the River. One Room Open Concept 240 sqft, 'NEW' 32" TV for DVDs, A/C & Heat, small Fridge, Sink, Toilet, Microwave, Hot Plate, Private Deck w/2 deck chairs, 4 Lawn Chairs for around Fire Pit, Picnic Table, Propane BBQ, Queen Bed and Queen Futon, Dining Table w/4 chairs, All Cooking & Eating Supplies. BRING YOUR OWN LINENS (available 1x for fee).
Dog Friendly (1 dog max). No cats allowed.
"Suitable" for 2 Adults & 2 small children (4 adults if your comfortable in small spaces).
FREE 1 DAY RENTAL Canoe or Kayak.
We are located one mile from the "Eastern Ontario Recreational Trails" and the "Dark Sky Viewing Area" on Hwy 41.
Located in our Campground, Haid's Hideaway Family Campground along the river; Enjoy the Parks Amenities and FREE Events.
Swim at the Small Beach, Bike, Hike, Play on the Big Bouncer, take a Lazy River ride on a Tube or just enjoy the Song Birds while Reading a Book and listening to the water flow over the Rapids. NO WIFI.
Private Shower Stalls and Laundry facilities available (located steps away @ Main Washrooms). Toilet/Sink in Cottage.
No Tents allowed on cottage properties (breakfast tents only).
NEAR BY: Chip Truck is a 10 minute drive to Kaladar. Towns of Tweed and Madoc are only a 10 minute drive and they offer full services...LCBO/Beer Store, Grocery, Fuel, Restaurants, Live Theatre, Winery, etc. etc.
NO 1 NIGHT STAYS on Friday or Saturday nights or 2 NIGHT STAYS on any Long Weekend (if booked it is subject to an up charge of $50+hst at arrival) .
**NO SATURDAY Arrivals Allowed during the months of July and August.
CLOSED: October Thanksgiving Monday until May Long Weekend.

Stayed in the Wood Duck cottage. Clean and everything you needed inside. Hosts were very accommodating. River and rapids right outside the door was heavenly.

Mid-week Respite

Although there were a lot of RVs on the sites, most seemed to be empty waiting for the weekend when their owners arrived. It was very quiet and peaceful being by the rapids. The property was very well maintained and the cabin had everything you'd need. The bed was really comfortable too!

AMAZING spot!

This was the perfect getaway for my partner and me to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors, but still have all the conveniences with this great one-room cottage. We absolutely LOVED swimming in the river, canoeing, walking, playing horseshoes, BBQing, having a fire... And all the people we came across when walking around or at the beach are super nice and respectful of the chill vibe. Nearby are some fun things to check out, like the Potter Winery and the chip truck! Understand that you're mostly going to be want to be outside as the cottage - though very beautiful & functional - is more like a place to sleep, change, store stuff kind of thing. But that's fine because the deck and the picnic table are just perfect for relaxing, reading, BBQing and playing games while you listen to the running river .... Also the hosts are so nice and helpful!

Very Clean. Loved our Cabin is was so cute, I only wished you could open an window or at least have a screen door for air flow because there was a nice breeze coming from outside. It's unfortunate that we couldn't do that as it felt stuffy at times. other than the relentless, crazy, zombie flies it was a great experience, I wish I could stay one more day.

Pleasantly Surprised

When we rented this cottage we/I had no idea what I was getting into. I was not comfortable with a communal type shower arrangement or the fact that cooking equipment was at a minimum. I must say after our first day there it was great. We found some very nice resteraunt"s in the area also a beautiful winery just down the road. Truly a hidden gem. The wines were world class. The setting for the cottage was beautiful, the running stream and little rapids was very relaxing and just great to sit and watch/listen with an adult beverage. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a little get away for a few days to relax and recharge your batteries, S.Lyons

Functional and calm

The place has all that we needed. The space is small, but we never felt cramped. You are close to other campers, but we never felt bothered. The river is right below and our dog hung out there most of the time. It rained a lot while we were there, but we always felt comfortable. Its a nice walk around the campsite and there is a beach. The off-leash dog run is a nice touch. We took a short canoe ride down the rive until trees stopped us. Perhaps I didn't read the description well, but I did not know it was part of a campground. But this changed nothing for us. All in all a nice comfortable stay. Would recommend.

Beautiful property and every detail was thought of. Even the seasonal campers were very friendly. The water was beautiful also and the property is quiet where you can hear the water while you’re enjoying outside. Will definitely be booking again.

So we designed and built 2 Cottages for those people specifically to Enjoy! Now everyone can take in the Sunsets at our little Beach and appreciate what we have here to offer.

We pride ourselves in keeping these 2 little tiny cottages in the best shape possible. They are designed to accommodate those that don't need much space and those that might like to cook and entertain outdoors (supplies available if you need to do this indoors too)!
