Nestled along the Skootamatta River, built 2019 - Peaceful Cozy Cottage on the River. One Room Open Concept 240 sqft, 'NEW' 32" TV for DVDs, A/C & Heat, small Fridge, Sink, Toilet, Microwave, Hot Plate, Private Deck w/2 deck chairs, 4 Lawn Chairs for around Fire Pit, Picnic Table, Propane BBQ, Queen Bed and Queen Futon, Dining Table w/4 chairs, All Cooking & Eating Supplies. BRING YOUR OWN LINENS (available 1x for fee).
Dog Friendly (1 dog max). No cats allowed.
"Suitable" for 2 Adults & 2 small children (4 adults if your comfortable in small spaces).
FREE 1 DAY RENTAL Canoe or Kayak.
We are located one mile from the "Eastern Ontario Recreational Trails" and the "Dark Sky Viewing Area" on Hwy 41.
Located in our Campground, Haid's Hideaway Family Campground along the river; Enjoy the Parks Amenities and FREE Events.
Swim at the Small Beach, Bike, Hike, Play on the Big Bouncer, take a Lazy River ride on a Tube or just enjoy the Song Birds while Reading a Book and listening to the water flow over the Rapids. NO WIFI.
Private Shower Stalls and Laundry facilities available (located steps away @ Main Washrooms). Toilet/Sink in Cottage.
No Tents allowed on cottage properties (breakfast tents only).
NEAR BY: Chip Truck is a 10 minute drive to Kaladar. Towns of Tweed and Madoc are only a 10 minute drive and they offer full services...LCBO/Beer Store, Grocery, Fuel, Restaurants, Live Theatre, Winery, etc. etc.
NO 1 NIGHT STAYS on Friday or Saturday nights or 2 NIGHT STAYS on any Long Weekend (if booked it is subject to an up charge of $50+hst at arrival) .
**NO SATURDAY Arrivals Allowed during the months of July and August.
CLOSED: October Thanksgiving Monday until May Long Weekend.

Fantastic getaway!

My kids, dog and I had a fantastic visit. The hosts were great, our cabin was nice and clean. We loved the rapids and would definitely come back!

Description is 100% true. We family of 3 had a wonderful time! Will definitely recommend if you are planning for a relaxing stay. River flowing right in front of the cottage was all we needed.

Relaxing by the river

Our stay was very nice. My favorite moments were canoeing on the river, floating down the river on a tube, and watching the sunset from the deck of the cottage. The place is very quiet and peaceful, very resting.

Cottage vacation

The little cottage had everything we needed and the river that runs by us was so pretty we had to go canoeing. People went by on tubes and were having a great time. It was very clean and the couple that runs it is very nice. Anyone that is a camper would love it.

Our stay was wonderful. Cabin was like a tiny house. It had everything you need. Lovely hearing small rapids right outside the cabin. Only change I would make is to have windows that open so we could have heard the water at nighttime.

Lovely place!!

Everything was so thought out. The cabin had everything plus more! We were super impressed with the whole setup. Very clean, beautiful view, right by the water and not overly busy. The host was super friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend this place and we’d love to come back sometime in the fall!

Outstanding cozy riverfront cottage

We had an amazing time at Haid’s Hideaway Family Campground. The cottage was exactly as advertised and exceeded expectations. It was a very relaxing stay, great location and amenities, and very nice fishing spots. We had a great host, Elizabeth, who was always attentive and made sure we had a nice experience. Looking forward to booking another vacation at this lovely cottage!

Perfect stay with beautiful falls and creeks

Loved this amazing peaceful and quiet place. You can canoe or go hiking or biking along the trails. We had a perfect getaway for one night.

A peaceful and tranquil gem :)

I really enjoyed my stay at this campground in the cottage we rented. A cozy accommodation with wonderful hospitality. Warm and welcoming greetings during each interaction with the owners, and very helpful. Places to fish, or have a nice stroll and be at one with nature. A wonderful getaway for all :)

Great family Hideout

Really nice place to go with your family. We rented one of the newly built cottages(cabin) which was in excellent condition(as is described). A bit tiny so not recomended for bigger familys. The floor is concrete and no carpet so please make sure bring your indoor shoes otherwise it can be cold... Rather than that it was super clean, quiet and pacefull. My son really enjoyed the "Big-Bouncer".

Perfect Getaway on the Water

My group and I loved our experiences at this property. With short notice before our trip, I requested our stay and was delighted when Elizabeth promptly accepted. She sent us the important information online that we needed to prepare for our trip, including what items we should bring and what would be provided. For those with a pet, it’s good to note that there is an additional $20 fee. When we arrived, Wood Duck cabin was exactly what we had been hoping for. It was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and the perfect size for 4 people who were comfortable being in close quarters. It’s clear that all of the furniture, amenities, and items were new and well maintained. We loved having the option of cooking on the fire pit, on the BBQ on the deck, or indoors with the various appliances and cookware they provided. We look forward to staying here again. Thank you!

Well appointed!

This cabin was modern, very clean and well appointed! Can't think of anything they didn't think of. The only thing hard to tell in the pictures the size of the cabin. Very tiny. You need to be very close to whomever you go with as there is no privacy. No sink or shower in the bathroom and the toilet is right by the queen bed. There are showers on site. Futon was not super comfy but the surrounding nature was beautiful. I'm not sure who commented on lying in bed listening to the rapids was heavenly? The only window that is available to open is the bathroom window. Such a shame. The lack of open windows made me feel very closed in. The beach front is small and no dogs allowed. The hosts have put in an off leash enclosure if you'd like your dog to have a run. I think the cabin would be more of a place for a couple to enjoy!

Absolute perfection

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the perfect relaxing getaway. The cottage has everything you need and lots of storage. The owners are so kind and left us a welcome package and wood (maybe because it was our honeymoon.) My husband and I were trying to visit as many provincial parks as we could but this little gem made us want to only go to private parks. Everything is immaculate and so well taken care of. We will definitely be back and we recommend to all. Be sure to try the chip truck right outside the campground - it’s the best we’ve ever had!

Hidden Gem

We stayed in one of the cozy cabins on the river and had a wonderful time.The cabin was so clean and beautifully decorated.The deck overlooking the river was so peaceful and private.The owners were very helpful and put so much care into taking care of this place and the visitors.Will definitely return next year for a longer stay.

Relaxing Vacation,

A relaxing stay, love the sound of the falls.. Private very large sites with lots of trees. The cabin was great with everything you need, with a full size BBQ, and the owner was very accommodating. Thanks for the great Vacation!

So cute

Beautiful little spot, quiet clean space to stay. Brought our one year old to the cottage but didn’t realize it was so close to a cliff edge before the water so it was a bit of a struggle constantly keeping him away from there! Might be better for a little bit older children. Otherwise exactly like the pictures, perfect for a quiet night by the fire :)

Lovely little cottage and campground

I stayed with my 6 year old twins. They had an absolutely fabulous time. Beautiful well kept property with lots of activities for the kids. The cottage was small but had lots of storage and both the mattress and the futon were comfortable. Nice size deck overlooking the river. The only thing I would improve is adding an outdoor shower or hose off station outside the cottage. My kids were always covered in sand/dirt from the beach and it would be nice to be able to rinse off at night before getting into bed as well as help keep the cottage cleaner during the stay. The trip was amazing overall and the owners are great we will definitely be booking again soon!

When we purchased this property in 2018 we realized that there may be people that would like to enjoy this property that might not be 'campers'. So we designed and built 2 Cottages for those people specifically to Enjoy! Now everyone can take in the Sunsets at our little Beach and appreciate what we have here to offer.

This property is about 'Simplicity'. No bells and whistles, just the Simple Beauty and Sounds of Nature. Friendly Atmosphere and Relaxation...whether you want to sit on the private deck and stare at the River/Rapids or take a Walk and talk to others Sharing in the Glory!

We pride ourselves in keeping these 2 little tiny cottages in the best shape possible. They are designed to accommodate those that don't need much space and those that might like to cook and entertain outdoors (supplies available if you need to do this indoors too)!
