The property was just as advertised. A clean, comfortable apartment that I would love to stay at again. The town had everything we needed and the beach was just a few steps away. Highly recommend staying here. I wish we had stayed longer but we were here only for UCSB graduation weekend.
This is a small, quiet apartment complex near Carpinteria Beach. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenage boys) stayed in an apt in the 2nd (top) floor and it was clean, comfortable and spacious. It's not on the beach but a block away which was just fine for us. It has comfortable beds, modern appliances, and all the creature comforts you expect (internet, TV w/ streaming services, full kitchen). The complex is supposed to have free, shared laundry but we didn't need it due to our short stay.
We have been back multiple times, staying in the larger units. The units are clean, stylishly renovated (all updated), and well stocked. All units open into a central, courtyard (surrounded by all it's 4 sides). When guests congregate in the courtyard for an informal party, the noise reverberates throughout the entire unit. All you need is a few people talking, laughing and having a good time, unaware of the sound implication. Same for pets (barking dogs) that guests let out of their unit into the courtyard or just leave behind (barking just behind the closed door), or young children running around and playing. However, these issues were promptly addressed by the owner when we contacted them for help, as we knew folks and animals were unaware. Each time we did, the owners were responsive, kind, thoughtful and effective. For many of our stays, the entire complex has been quite since many of the guests realize the sound amplification nature of the common-area, central courtyard and respect the noise rules, which are quite explicitly written and placed on the kitchen counter of each unit. Overall, we enjoy returning to this VRBO complex - especially for its excellent location with short walking distance to the Carpinteria State Beach and a walkable location to multiple restaurants and bars in Carpinteria.
We spent the long Thanksgiving weekend here and had a great stay. The complex is literally a block away from a gorgeous beach - we'd grab one of the beach chairs and hang out, or go for a sunset stroll, or head south on a longer walk to see the seal sanctuary. It's also an easy walk to cafes in the town. There is a comfy couch for watching TV, a dining table for eating together, plus a well-equipped kitchen (Vitamix blender + Keurig coffee maker!). The king bed was very comfy; the twin beds for our college-age kids were maybe a bit small, but they didn't complain. I'd recommend bringing your own bottled water; the tap water is very hard/mineralized so I felt better about not drinking it directly from the tap. But great water pressure! We really enjoyed our stay.
Great pet friendly apt. upstairs just a short walk to beach, restaurants, and shops.
Comfortable king bed! Twin beds are standard; extra long twins would be more comfortable for teens and adults. Nice modern deco. Living room comfortably accommodates family of four. Plenty of sitting for eating meals at island bar or kitchen table. Bedroom closets have shelves and sliding bins built in with hanging areas and hangers. Beds and nightstands only furniture in bedrooms. Plenty of storage in kitchen and bathrooms.
Itâs a quiet complex and landlords want to keep it that way. In fact, they live below apartment 10. There are other residents who permanently live on the premises.
First time taking dog to beach! We had a great time!
We had a wonderful stay here. The place was spacious and clean, walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The only confusing thing was on the VRBO site with the description of the rooms. All the beds were listed for Bedroom 1 and nothing listed for Bedroom 2. The unit had 2 bedrooms, one was a master with a king, and the other bedroom had 2 twins. Obviously, we took the chance and stayed here. It was fantastic.
We had a wonderful stay at the apt 10. It is a well maintained, beautiful place.. It's like a home away from home. The apartment is spacious, airy. It has a lot of day light and all the amenities. The apartment is just few steps away from a pristine beach.
Mike and his wife have perfectly set up the place. They are very responsive.
We enjoyed our vacation in Carpenteria! It has become a special place for us. This is going to be our frequent vacation spot.
We had a wonderful stay at apt 10. The home is beautifully updated and had so many amenities we didn't even realize we needed! It was a perfect setup for our family- the 2nd bedroom was set up with twin beds which would be great for older kids but there was plenty of room for our toddler's pack-n-play. The location cannot be beat. We walked everywhere- dinner, the park/playground, the seal rookery- and of course being so close to the beach is amazing. Carpenteria is such a special place and we hope to make this trip a summer tradition! One thing to know (in case it doesn't work for your family) is this apt is on the 2nd floor with no floor coverings so you need to be light-footed for your neighbors' sake, with a toddler we tried our best but felt so guilty for the pitter-patter of little feet that our neighbors heard.
Gorgeously decorated, spacious and extremely well equipped apartment literally steps from what we think is one of the best beaches in all of SoCal. Our stay was outstanding in every respect ,and we will be back! Thanks, Mike and Elena, for providing such an excellent home away from home.
Perfectly clean apartment in a residential area of Carpinteria.
This was a great apartment, well located in a residential area. This apartment was without a doubt, the best outfitted apartment ever. Coffee, creamer, cereals, eggs & Milk. They aim to please. Very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
The unit was newly remodeled, modern and comfortable. We loved the location within walking distance of the beach and short easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Fully stocked kitchen including Keurig machine & coffee pods a plus. Nice BBQ available for guests use. Nice amenities and personal touches made our stay very enjoyable.
Our stay was fantastic. From the moment we opened the door we were treated with fresh fruit and other goodies as well as a beautiful Inviting apartment. Very close to the beach With all you need such as beach chairs and towels. We will be back!
Our 2nd stay in the last 3 months and it was great! Great beach access, fun little town of Carpinteria, 10 great surf breaks within 15 minutes, super tight accommodations, and great service from Mike and Elena who live on site! We'll be back soon.
Carpinteria has been our family's favorite vacation destination since I was a small child in the 1950's. After several years of camping at Carpinteria State Campgrounds, our parents decided to build Tropic Shores Apartments and make this our second home. A few years ago, our parents both passed, away after a full and long life, leaving Tropic Shores to the four brothers, Tom, Richard, Mike, and Jeff. Since we all feel a very special connection to Carpinteria, we decided to remodel the building from ground up, and keep it in the family for our children to enjoy.
Tropic Shores is a small building of 16 units, all located with a center courtyard of lush landscaping...some of which were planted by our father over 50 year ago. The building is very quiet and your are sure to find it easy to relax and re-energize. While we're not right on the beach, we are located so close that you can hear the waves crashing at night. 200 steps and you're on the sand. Directly across the street is the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, which is basically a bird sanctuary. You may enjoy quiet walks through the Salt Marsh watching for birds or other animals while watching the sun rise or set.
Carpinteria is one of the last remaining small beach towns founded during the mid 1900's, essentially unchanged over the last 5 or 6 decades. It's a town where you may feel safe allowing your children to walk or bicycle through town on their own. Named "The World's Safest Beach" because of the protection of the Channel Islands, the surf rarely gets very large...but still large enough to enjoy the waves. When you're ready for something more exciting, there are dozens of wineries, golf courses, movie theaters, and restaurants in nearby Santa Barbara and Ventura.
