A perfect little condo right by the beach! It was just as pictured and so conveniently situated. Just as its name, one block from the beach, but itâs also a quick walk or bike ride down Linden street where there are lots of restaurants and shops. We chose it because it was a short walk or bike ride to the state park (camp grounds) where our family was. Super easy to go back and forth! The kitchen is extremely well stocked and there are extra blankets and pillows which I appreciate. There are lots of hooks on the walls, so you can hang up towels. Lastly, it was quiet and peaceful. You can hear the ocean from the bedroom window!
We were looking for a place where we could just relax and I could prepare some Thanksgiving extras for a feast at our daughter's house. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The kitchen worked out well for me and best of all the beds were very comfortable. Emily was an awesome host. When I had any questions she replied immediately. We didn't take advantage of the beach because of the time of year but if you are a beach person it would be a great place to stay.
The Property description DOES NOT represent the actual property. We were lead to believe, from the VRBO listing, that there were 2 rooms, 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, and one Double pullout sofa. We found only ONE bedroom, with a King Bed. There was NOT a 2nd bedroom. The pullout sofa was NOT a double, it was actually smaller. When we contacted and complained to the owner, she said that there was an inflatable Queen bed in the closet. Our family had to move the whole living room (which made the living room unusable) to put up the Queen inflatable mattress. VERY unsatisfactory conditions.
The property was perfect for us. Walking distance to everything. The condo contained all the necessities and even beach items like lots of chairs, boogie boards, and even a little wagon to tow it. If we come back to Carpinteria, we would definitely stay in this condo again!
We come to this lovely town and gather with extended family every year. We have stayed in many different places over the years and this condo was by far our favorite. Location, cleanliness, lovely host communication, you name it, it was superb
We couldnât have asked for a better location for our week-long stay in Carpinteria. The condo is comfortable and welcoming. Perfect walking distance to the beach (barely a block) and to the shops and restaurants on Linden Street. Easy access to the 101 for adventures outside of Carpinteria as well. Emily is a wonderful host, even down to alerting us to an internet outage (brief) - an important detail when traveling with teenagers. We agreed weâve found our spot and will definitely be back!
Hubby and I loved it so much that we are already planning on returning every year! This was our most relaxing vacation ever. We loved that you could walk everywhere (we averaged about 20,000 steps a day).
Things to do:
Carpinteria Bluffs: make sure to see the seals (walking distance or short drive).
Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Preserve: be sure to find the creek and look for leopard sharks just below the surface of the water (walking distance).
Walk into town and eat. We loved Pizza Man Dans (awesome salad bar) and Teddyâs by the Sea.
Take the train into San Diego (train stop is walking distance).
And of course walk on the amazing beach, which was about a short block away.
One of my most important criteria for a vacation is the quietness of the place, as I am the worldâs lightest sleeper. I give this place 8/10 (10 being impossibly quiet). We rarely heard the neighbors. There only appears to be about a dozen units, unlike the larger complexes nearby. The train runs nearby, but it is a passenger train track only and doesnât run overnight. The only noise issue I had is that the bedroom is directly over the complex laundry room. Despite a very large sign stating that the laundry room hours are 9pm-9am, I did hear it being used outside of those hours on more than one occasion, but I was still able to sleep quite well.
Host was very helpful and responsive.
Only criticism: some touch ups needed (bathtub could use a new faucet), but 10/10 would stay again.
It was a pleasant stay. My daughter and befriend stayed a few days. We loved staying so close to the beach. Also easy access to explore other nearby beaches. I love this small low key town. I live in the S.F. Valley, and itâs always a pleasure to come even if itâs for the day.
Thank you!
Walking distance to everything in center of town. Well seasoned apartment, with most of what you need for a short stay. It does get warm inside, luckily nights were cool enough that we were comfortable when windows were opened.
Host is very responsive via email.

With retirement looming, we wanted to be able to spend some of the year in a beach town and searched the California coast. When we found Carpinteria, we knew we had found the perfect place. We wanted a quiet complex at the beach and easy walking distance to town. We have friends and family in southern California and we wanted to be able to take the train to visit them and to take advantage of all the region has to offer without having to drive.
After two years of looking for a place to buy, we fell in love with this condo. It is the only unit in the building that has a full bedroom as well as a loft bedroom. Since we stay here several weeks a year ourselves, the condo is a home, not just a rental property. We want our guests to feel the same way.
