Pros: Well-equipped kitchen, nice grill, and located in VOC
Cons: I can't even go into the nightmare that was the pool, pollen/tree debris, and management company.
Useful to know: One of the "additional fees" is to heat the hot tub only, not to heat the pool. This is an additional fee per day, which we were not told until we inquired after getting there and then we were reprimanded for not letting them know ahead of time. When the heat was turned on, it didn't work most of the time; at least, that was the case for us. In fairness, they reimbursed the pool heating cost, but it certainly did not make up for the ongoing aggravation and ruining our trip. I have never been so happy for a "vacation" to end. Tip: Don't rent in May when the trees are exploding. In 4.5 weeks, landscaping came one day during week 3. If I wanted to spend my days landscaping, cleaning out pools, and waiting for repair people, I would have stayed home.
Oak Creek Haven II is ideally located close to the Village of Oak Creek while being in a quiet part of the area. The Village has all amenities. Clarks Market is 20 mins walk (if you like to walk) and provides for all grocery and pharmacy needs. Cucina Rustica Italian Resturant is excellent. Major hiking trails (Bell and Courthouse Rocks) are 10 mins drive, get there very early (especially Cathedral Rock), car parks fill up quickly (by 8-8.30am). The local neighbor hood is a pleasure to walk around, with intermingling golf courses. Cottonwood and Jerome 40 mins drive. Flagstaff via Oak Creek Canyon is a wonderful scenic drive. West Sedona and Uptown Sedona can slow driving but worth the effort, especially Uptown, but it can be very busy. Talaquepaque Arts Shopping Village is lovely. Grand Canyon village is a couple of hours drive but go early morning, visitor car parks fill up quickly. Sunset Crater and Waputaki Ruins north east of Flagstaff are easily reached in a hour's drive, lovely vistas and the Ruins are spectacular. We spent nine weeks in Oak Creek Haven II and loved every minute. The house is well set out and you'll want for nothing. Mobile phone coverage is a bit of a challenge (being on the fringe of all four major service providers in the area), no problem once you get into the Village itself where signal strength is very good.
The home was immaculate, beautifully appointed and settled in a quiet neighborhood.. I really appreciated the attention to detail; amenities, brochures of local activities, toiletries, and a welcome binder. It was exactly what I was looking for and would love to sray again.
This is our second time staying at the home. That alone should let you know that we would recommend it. Itâs location in Sedona is ideal, close to the Oak Creek Golf Course and the best hikes Sedona has to offer. The home is extremely comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked and clean. Since we were last there there were some new appliances installed in the kitchen, new beds in one of the guest rooms, new furniture in the dining area, and generally new decor here and there. Really nicely done. There is a gas fireplace to add ambiance to your movie watching (Roku TV) in the living room, BBQ, refreshing pool and jacuzzi in the backyard. Bikes are available to use. Everything that you would need or want is available. Would come back again.
Great location in Oak Creek Village - close to all hiking. Amazing view of the red rocks from the front yard. Waterfall at the pool and birds chirping was the key to relaxation. Indoors was spotless. The bikes were a great touch! They have all the amenities that you could need. Just an overall fabulous home, destination, and vacation!
We were there for six weeks in February and March, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house is clean and comfortable. Two surprises were that the pool is not heated, and therefore not useable in the cooler months and that the lifts on the garage doors did not have remotes or external keypads. Also, when we were there only one garage bay was usable. The other two bays were occupied by a truck, and bicycles.
We spent six weeks at this house, and definitely enjoyed our stay, The home is comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed, and the appliances did the job. Given COVID, we did a lot of home cooking!
We can definitely recommend this home for an extended stay, but we can also identify several ways the guest experience could be improved.
First, it is important to note that the pool is lovely, but not heated. During the time we were there in February and March, its watertemperature never exceeded 50F, so it was effectively unusable. I would recommend that either the use of the heater be allowed (even at an additional cost), or that the listing make clear it is an unheated pool. The spa, however, was heated.
Second, the listing identifies garage parking for two cars, and an additional space for a third car on the driveway. During our stay there was a truck in the garage, and only room for one car. The third garage bay was devoted to five bicycles for guest use, which is a great feature. Also, the garage doors have lifts, but remotes are not provided and there is not an exterior keypad. This requires going into the house through the front door and into the garage to open or close the door whenever you exit or return. This gets old.
Third, there was no free shelf space in the pantry when we arrived. Before we could go shopping for food items, we spent about an hour clearing and cleaning off one of the shelves so we had somewhere to put things.
Finally, a few minor repairs are in order that we shared with the property manager.
We stayed in this home from March 2020 to August 2020, during the period of time when everyone was asked to stay home due to the pandemic. We had no reason to leave! The home was very clean, spacious, airy, nicely appointed, the beds were exceedingly comfortable, kitchen was very well stocked. I cooked every meal over these months, and I was never missing anything! The fireplace in the living room made our Netflix binge-watching there very cozy, the pool and jacuzzi made our days fun. The neighborhood is very safe and the location in Oak Creek is perfect -very close to some of the best hiking in Sedona, as well as the Oak Creek golf course. The renters were very nice and responsive. We would highly recommend this place to others.
