Tons of space!! Decently appointed. Priced right! Quirky location behind Mittersal resort. Super interesting multi level design. 5 star 2 night stay!!
Only complaint was that the gas grill hasnât been cleaned this millennium. We tried to use it... big fire inside (we were trying to cook chicken.. nothing fatty). Had to use stove to cook the meal! The fire was very off putting!!
The house was very spacious and accommodated our large group of people effortlessly. The loft bedrooms were a huge hit with the 7 and 17 year olds. The kitchen had all the basic pots/pans/plates and this was very helpful. The kitchen floor however seemed to not be mopped, and walking barefoot with our feet getting dirty was an unpleasant experience. The bathrooms were stocked with towels, which was useful. The location of the house was great in terms of Franconia State Park being very close by. The pictures in the listing look brighter and perkier than how the house feels in person. The house has a small clearing outside where we were able to play some badminton, which was nice. The area does get a lot of insects come evening and night though, so come prepared. The screen door to the main living area is in need of repair, with a small tear in the screen, and some difficulty opening/closing. As mentioned in the listing, the house is not air conditioned. Due to poor air circulation, the house also feels very muggy in hot July, and sleeping at night was difficult in rooms that did not have window/ceiling fans. The ceiling fan in the main living area doesn't work, and the bbq grill was very dirty as well as disconnected from the gas supply, so we couldn't use it. The furniture and carpets in the house are past the need for renovation. Like a previous reviewer, we also burnt our hands trying to heat coffee in the rooster cups in the kitchen. It is disheartening that despite negative reviews, most issues with house are repeat offenders. However, if none of these seem like a problem, this is a spacious house, with a very nice layout, albeit in need of some TLC, that is conveniently located near Echo Lake and the Franconia State Park, and available at a reasonable price point.
Comfortable, spacious home with gorgeous outdoor deck with fire table overlooking trees and well manicured lawn. Cozy living spaces. Beautiful Mountain View.
We book vacations in New England very frequently and rent homes for our stay with 8-10 people. This house was great and had a lot of amazing features. The wrap around porch in the back, 4 bedrooms and 2 extra den rooms that our kids really loved. Kitchen is fully equipped as well. There's a lockbox at the main door that made things so convenient. SO MANY amazing things to do just 10-20 mins away. Grocery stores are 20 mins away. Vacasa contact rep was on text for anything we needed.

There were a few things that I do want to mention as it can be a dealbreaker for some folks. The house had NO AC. There's a fan at the entrance but the switches didn't turn it on. Not that it would have helped cool either as it was away from the sitting area. We stayed in June (this past weekend) and the temps were only in 80s and it was quite unbearable to be inside. It was hot, humid and muggy and we ended up going to Echo lake to cool off. It stayed quite hot at night as well. One of the Nest thermostats had the cool option that we turned on and it didn't work. Next day the Cool option disappeared from the thermostat altogether. The coffee mugs in the kitchen with the hand painted roosters on it ARE NOT MICROWAVE safe. We burnt our hands when we heated water up for some tea for just 60 secs. The mug was too hot to handle and the water inside had not even heated up.
Property and area are great. Only complaint was we were greeted by a mouse within 5 minutes of entering the house. I have an autistic daughter who had a rough time with this. Itâs obvious the owner knows of these pests as things in the kitchen are covered in plastic. Think they need to set some traps
We had such a wonderful stay at the Alpine lodge. There was plenty of room for our large group - a great place to enjoy a vacation with our children and grandchildren. I found the carpeted floors and minimal amount of stairs to be a plus, since we had a toddler rambling around the house as d it was blessedly safe for him. There were plenty of comfortable seating areas, comfy beds, ample large windows and light...And that heavenly mountain air that we wanted to pack up and bring home with us. The property had so much privacy, a large yard surrounded by trees, a few deck areas to sit out on and watch the kids play. THe decor was elegantly rustic. We all loved it. Two of the bedrooms had lofts , each leading to a bedroom area with an extra bed. We went in the heat of the summer, so it was a little too hot for us to use at the time, but during other times of the year it would probably provide a fun and cozy additional place to sleep. (Maybe fans in these areas would help in the summer). All the other rooms had that wonderful breeze running through the house at night. We were also close to the Franconia bike trail, hikes, water holes, and more. It was a short trip, but we would have loved to stay even longer! THanks for lending us your lovely home!
We loved the location and the size and layout of the home. The carpet was a little dated/old and the kitchen was missing a few essentials like salt & pepper and a large cooking pot. But overall we enjoyed our stay.
This house was very big, in a convinient location and the amenities like the wrap around deck and grill were perfect for family dinners. Very happy with our trip can't wait to return!
