What a lovely and relaxing place to stay! Centrally located but just off the main drag enough for it to be quiet. We found the apartment to be fully stocked for cooking or any other needs and the entire place was clean and comfortable.
This was our second time staying here, and we were delighted again! My husband, our daughter, and I spent a week here and had a wonderful time exploring the city and relaxing in the rental unit.
The owner was prompt and friendly when answering questions and providing information, and we hope to stay here again in the future.
Easy to walk and drive to restaurants, etc. In Santa Barbara. Great and comfortable bed with nice bathroom and shower. Fairly quiet accommodations with some atreet noise, but it was ok at night. Kitchen very nice. Host was well at communication. Front door needs a bit of work foreasier entey, bit no big seal.
The property was exactly as advertized. It had a great kitchen set up- enough storage and everything you'd need from opening a bottle of wine to cooking. We also appreciated the bigger shower. It was a wonderful short distance to every place we needed. It was super convenient!
This is a sunny, comfortable apartment in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and activities on State Street. It is well supplied with everything you need. Parking on the street was never a problem. Rachael goes above and beyond as a host to make sure you have a successful stay. She even came over to the apartment - twice - to make sure we could use her television with its gazillion channels and streaming services, all included. Our 17 days in Santa Barbara were delightful!
My husband, our daughter, and I spent a few days here and had a wonderful time. This is a beautiful unit with new, high-end appliances and gorgeous surfaces. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, and tools, and has plenty of counterspace. The bedroom is quite and comfortable. In addition to a large living room with a spacious couch, there's a covered patio that makes a wonderful spot to sit and read. We highly recommend this rental!
We have stayed at numerous Vrbos throughout the years with mostly great results. This particular stay was an exception. Succinctly follows the problems we encountered.
1. The lock box was broken. Once we were able to obtain the key the dual lock entry was a Byzantine exercise in unlocking. This problem presented itself at every future entry.
2. You enter through the âplant room.â This could be a nice little room if the plants were watered and pruned.
3. General maintenance, doors donât close, drawers wonât open, ice maker doesnât work etc.
4. The heating system needs a person with a HVAC background to operate. During our entire stay could not get primary heating system or gas fireplace to operate.
5. The information book for the property was less then helpful.
6. The on line description is misleading as to the outdoor area or lack there of, available at the unit.
All and all a chilly and challenging stay.
The first house rule âNo Cleaning- you are on vacation!â exemplified the graciousness we experienced from our host and the home. It was comfortable and cozy and we were encouraged to relax and enjoy our holiday. Lovely neighborhood and easy walking to shops and restaurants.
Looks like VRBO overbooked our arrival day. Our host scrambled and found us a nice replacement for our 1st night of 3.
She could have not been more accommodating. We will be repeaters for sure.
Thanks to our hostess.

This unit was very lovely. It was upstairs and had great lighting and be eh comfortable bed and couch. Easy location and we had no trouble parking on the side of the street while there.
In general the description of the property and the online photos were accurate. The host, Rachel was always available. It was the lack of information given that was the issue for me prior to booking. I did not know until 2-days prior after receiving location information from Vrbo that this was an upstairs unit and built on top of a garage on a very busy street. I contacted the host, Rachel and she has since added that this is "upstairs" to the description.
I missed that the unit did not have AC (my bad). It happened that it was hotter than usual for the area and the temp reached 82 degrees in the unit almost every day for a week. The fans; one ceiling in main room and one portable in bedroom helped move air but you had to keep the windows open and there were no screens and this unit is on a busy street so the car noise was very unpleasant. I booked for 19-days and am a senior so the heat was difficult. The host said she was going to fix this situation after I left which of course made me feel "less than". I told her I couldn't take the heat and I was offered a very small refund to leave immediately. I still had 8-days that I have paid for so that was not a good deal for me.
The place was very clean with one expection and Rachel took care of that right away. The seating was not comfortable, a tall table meant for eating at with chairs that were too low to be able to use it. There was a desk with a small wooden bench to sit on. I had work to do and Rachel had an office chair brought right over which was terrific. The "patio" was a plywood floor room with plants that were less than taken care of...not a place to hang out in at all. Directly below this patio was a small backyard space for another guest with a jacuzzi and when kids used it (there were several while I was there) it was noisy. The entrance door from the stair entrance to this patio did not lock. This space was highlighted in the description so it certainly did not meet my expectations. The ceiling in the bathroom was in need of repair, again I was told it was going to be fixed after I left..."less than" feeling again.
The kitchen worked wonderfully. Very well equipped. The bed and towels were terrific.
Bottom line, I learned a few things about what to look for and make sure I ask more questions.
I have stayed in many vacation rental properties and this has absolutely been my favorite. The location was perfect, it was very clean, the bed and couch were so comfortable, the shower was beautiful, the kitchen is well stocked and the owner's communication was excellent. I highly recommend this property and look forward to staying here again for my next Santa Barbara getaway!
This cottage is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. It is close to several tourist attractions. Rachael is a very attentive host. I highly recommend staying at this cottage.
