We loved our stay here. It was the perfect space for us and just had such a peaceful and relaxing vibe. It is a five minute drive to anything you might need, and a 20 minute walk to the "downtown" Santa Barbara area. The location on the hillside made for wide open views and such a light and bright space. We did a lot of relaxing and walking the neighborhood during out stay. We would love to come back stay here again.
This is the second winter we have spent in this Lower Riviera home. The neighborhood has easy access to The Mission, the Riviera Theater, and State Street is not far. Fun for walkers. The view above Santa Barbara is a bonus. Just right for a couple or small family.
We had a great month in Santa Barbara. Dan was helpful and always very quick to respond to messages! Ken, who rents the other half of the house, was friendly and helpful. The view was beautiful!!! It was great to have our own laundry. (The washer and dryer are in the garage.) Parking is available on the street and we were always able to park close to the house. I wish we could have stayed longer. We would stay there again! Thanks Dan!
Unfortunately we were unable to come to Santa Barbara over Labor Day weekend due to Hurricane Harvey, and had to cancel at the very last minute. Daniel was so kind and offered to let us come another weekend or refund our money. He didn't have to do that, but it was such a nice gesture at a time when we really needed it. We will definitely rebook his home when we are able to reschedule our trip! Thank you Daniel.
This is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom, but you can use the futon in the living room as another queen size bed. We had 3 couples during the stay, so as long as no one has a problem with sleeping in the living room it works perfectly. Dining room and kitchen were nice sizes, although we didn't really use the kitchen. There is a patio that you can sit on to relax outside in the fresh air, if you want there is a BBQ that you can pull out and use as well.
Please Note: This is a large house that has been converted into 2 homes, so there is another resident that lives in the back half. You will see this as you walk up to the front door, as you have to walk in front of his patio & front door in order to enter the house. Super friendly guy, he also takes care of the property and if anything goes wrong in the home you can knock on his door.
The house on Grand was perfect for our family of five and our week vacation to Santa Barbara. The location is fantastic, just up the hill a bit to have great views of the city and ocean, but not too far up. It was an easy walk down to State St and the rest of the downtown attractions. It's a small, quaint house, but the layout is perfect and it was well stocked with everything we needed. We'd absolutely stay there again!
My two kids and I took a road trip from Orange County to Santa Barbara and stayed in this darling home. The neighbor, Ken, greeted us upon on arrival and was great to show us around and offered his help, if need be. We loved the location as it was close to downtown and a lovely place to walk. We were comfortable and very happy here, we'll definitely be back!
The riviera can be difficult to navigate but we had an easy time finding the house. Ken, the property manager showed us around and explained the parking situation for 3 vehicles. He was very nice and informative. The views from the deck are amazing. All in all, there was ample space to cook, entertain, and it was exactly what we needed. I would definitely stay there again.
The property was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Daniel was really nice and accommodating with lots of town tips and friendly chat. Luckily we were visiting while the tangerine tree was in season so we had fresh fruit to brighten up our mornings!
Unfortunately, what should have been a really nice stay in a charming older property was marred by the presence of ants in the house.
One of us (in the bed in the living room) was bit several times at night by them, and the ants got into our stuff and were tracked into the vehicle. While I'm sure this isn't _always_ a problem, it was for us.
Daniel, our stay in your place was really a pleasure. The house was very confortable. We enjoyed the terrace with a full moon. Ken who was living next door was really a great host and always ready to help. You were also available by mail when we needed you. Thanks for all.

I can't say this place is terrible, because it wasn't. It was in a cute little area about a mile & half above State St (downtown area). I wasn't really happy with the cleanliness of the place. It was not at all dirty, however little things caught my attention. There was a hair int he bathtub for one. That tells me whoever cleaned, didn't really do a thorough job and made me wonder if the tub was even thoroughly cleaned (that's a huge sanitation issue). I noticed the bed sheets had some yellowish spots on them. There were spider webs throughout the house. Considering that we are charged a cleaning fee, I would have expected a much cleaner place. Since cleanliness is most important to me, I had to take away 2 stars for that.
Other than the cleanliness, the place is neat & has everything you need. Kitchen is a little outdated, but not a big deal. The owner forgot to send me all the information prior to arriving, so on my way to Santa Barbara I had to scramble to search for a phone number (the Homeway application kept saying his email was not working). I was getting nervous, but after looking for a while I was able to find a phone number so the owner gave me the information I needed to get into the place.
Like I said, because cleanliness is super important to me, I don't think I would stay here again, but I don't have any other complaints. The place is well furnished and cute. It was also nice that the owner allowed us to book a two night stay, most other places required a 3 night minimum stay.
The casement windows in the kitchen have a beautiful view down into the city, and the decks are quiet and calming. The beds are clean and comfortable. The neighbor was super friendly and helpful. Everything is a short drive away. We stayed with our 4 year old daghter, and she would help to open (and close) the windows for the br of zen to blow through.
Also, the owner was very accords ring, answering questions before and during our stay.
We are a family of 6. We lived here after we got married and before we had kids. We now live in Huntington Beach and visit as much as we can. We can't wait to move back to Santa Barbara. We are so happy to open up our home so others can take in and enjoy the beauty of Santa Barbara.
