House is great and the lake access and dock to swim from cannot be beat. Had a great few days away from the city. Owner was very responsive and assisted with everything we needed. Overall excellent stay!
Old-timey, country cottage, with everything you need. (NO T.V. kids,.. sorry !!) This was a great quiet get-away for us. Beds were very comfortable. Great place !
Our family had a great time relaxing and enjoying the water at the Caslin Cottage. The kids enjoyed the swimming and kayaks and enjoyed having their own big bedroom to retreat to for quiet time. The firepit and seating on the shore was great for Smores in the evening and the views are beautiful day and night. We cooked almost all of our meals at the house and had no issues with finding everything we needed. Checking in and out was easy and seamless. Thank you Caslin family for the great stay!
My husband and I, and my sister and brother-in-law stayed at this lovely, rustic cottage after a day of being chauffeured by a friend to a number of wineries. We, unfortunately, weren't able to enjoy the waterside because of high winds, but we enjoyed playing cards on the enclosed porch for the evening. Every possible amenity was provided - many thoughtful touches. Very quiet area - we walked the road in the morning. We'd stay again - seems like a great place for families as well.
Our family had a great time at this cozy little cottage! We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, playing games and fishing off the dock. We visited 4 state parks while there and saw so many waterfalls and gorges. We also walked to Thirsty Owl one afternoon for lunch. The cottage was clean and had the amenities needed for our family of 5. Kerri was responsive to all of my questions and made us feel welcome. This was our first time visiting the finger lake region and we canât wait to come back!
Very comfortable stay, the weather (heat) was very uncomfortable on the lake when we werenât moving. For two men 74 years old the steps to bedroom and bathroom were a challenge. But overall it was a great beachfront rental with very nice neighbors. If there tie up lugs on the dockit would have been better for our boat. Thank you Keri and Nic
We had a great stay at the Caslin cottage! The cabin is very rustic but was clean. The shower is not the greatest and could have used a little bleach on the seams. A new shower head would make a world of difference. The rest of the cottage was spotless and comfortable. Beds were firm and comfy, kitchen had everything we needed. The view from the front porch and the dock were unbeatable and we enjoyed a lot of time spent outside.
This rustic lake house was perfect for our family gathering. Everyone was very relaxed and pretty comfortable. The lake front was perfect, shade and sun, wonderful swimming for little ones, and adults, porches great for eating outside or in. Great fires st night. Downside, could not use oven, smoked when turned on even after cleaning and granddaughter stung by bees from ground bee nest in from of house. Would book again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Caslin Cottage. The owners are very responsive to any questions you may have. The porch overlooking the lake was perfect for morning coffee, and while enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. Beds were comfortable, and you could see the moon over the lake while sitting on the bed. The shower was a bit rustic, but served its purpose. We loved having access to the kayaks. Thirsty Owl Bistro offers a lovely lunch overlooking the lake, and it is right down the street. We hope to return to this lovely cottage next time we are in the finger lakes region.
The location is ideal for exploring wineries, going boating or fishing swimming, just hanging out or visiting local parks. Everything thing you need. Steps to lake with nice fire pit and dock. Inside space is more than ample and although rustic is really charming. We loved having our coffee on the deck with choice of comfy seating. The inside has a nice sized dining table we also used for game night. The larger of the the two bedrooms is spacious and the other has a queen bed and fine for two. My only complaint is that my time went too quickly. My daughter and partner loved to kayak and we all loved hanging out by the fire pit. We really do d not need to bother host because instructions so clear. Thank you!
My friends and I had a lovely time here. The front porch and screened front room were perfect for early morning views of the lake and bug free evening views. Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed to cook with. Would re-visit.
We were so lucky to wake up to a beautiful lake every morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. We visited all around: Ithaca for lake trout fishing, Seneca Falls for a late-night dinner, wineries, beers, and hiking. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the house and its simple and lovely comforts. We had great weather and loved our stay. Thank you!
This was our second time staying here and it was just as wonderful the second time. We splurged and rented a boat for a few days and the kids loved every minute of it. The house is perfect for a small family and being able to just run out the door and jump off the dock is priceless. We enjoyed paddling, swimming, hiking, and biking the area. A last day highlight was lunch at the Thirsty Owl. We already know there will be a third visit at some point. Thanks to the Caslin family for opening up such a special place to us.
I canât say enough about this location! At first I was hesitant about the road between the house and the shoreline and asked Kerri about the traffic. She was right.. very little traffic and limited to residents. Iâd guess ten vehicles passed by in four days, and there are speed bumps so they travel at a snails pace. The reviews are correct in that the house is on the ârusticâ side, but it has all the amenities and had plenty of room for our party of four. The flow from the back door was the kitchen, to the living room, to a nice enclosed patio/dining room, to the open front porch where the views of the lake are incredible! We used the two kayaks several times a day.
Although the kitchen was fully stocked, we used only the stove top and cooked all meals on the nice grill in the backyard. The fridge/freezer had food already in it, assuming that the house is used by the owner when not reserved, but we neatly moved things aside to give ourselves a dedicated shelf in the fridge and used the door of the freezer so my family knew what foods/drink I brought. It wasnât a dealbreaker, truthfully.
Iâve stayed on Seneca Lake which is more commercialized, more traffic and more wineries. On Cayuga Lake, we traveled to about ten different wineries/distilleries all within about a 12 mile stretch. The views of the lake along the way made the ride worth it. There is even a winery not far from the entrance to our quiet street if youâre up for a walk (up a hill) when traveling from the house.
Booking was easy, communications were clear and the cancellation policy is very generous, too. Highly recommend for families with children, quiet girls getaway or anyone who is a water enthusiast!
Oh, and the walk out onto the private pier to view the skies at sunrise and sunset make for some beautiful pictures! Truly is an amazing location. Weâll be back - 100%!
It was great for seeing the area - State and National Parks (waterfalls and hiking, seeing where the women's movement began in Seneca Falls, locks on the Erie Canal), wineries, college campuses of interest (my husband a Cornell grad and my mother a Wells grad). And good local restaurants (let me recommend the Hazelnut Kitchen in Trumansburg). And cheese! And did I say wineries?? But, the cabin is a cabin. It's comfortable, with everything you might need. We're older, so didn't make use of the water sports. We just loved the view!!!
This rental is located right on Cayuga Lake. Perfect location and close to some excellent wineries. The house has a cozy feel and everything you would want for a lake experience.
The hosts were very accommodating and provided excellent recommendations. Kerri went above and beyond as the host. Our daughter left her iPad and she immediately mailed it back.
The master bedroom is spacious with two beds and has a great view in the morning. The fire pit (free wood) makes a night in front of the lake very enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this rental and the hosts make the whole experience even better.
Great little spot for a get away. Cute little camp with lake frontage. Within walking distance to a winery and short drive from many others. Enjoyed our stay.
This is a wonderful cottage with great lake access in a quiet community. My stay was relaxing and stress-free. Everything was perfect and the hosts were responsive, helpful, and sweet. Can't wait to return next year.
Location! In the heart of wine country, two wineries within walking distance. Private. Beautiful, unobstructed views of the water. Amazing sunrises. Located in the middle of the Lake so we don't get heavy weeds or algae at our beach like the North and South ends of the Lake. Great swimming. Large covered, open front porch.
Quiet Road off the main drag. Private beach and dock. Additional deck, hammock, and fire pit located on beach. Upgraded kitchen. Brand new dock in 2022. Family owned for 4 generations. A lot of TLC at this property!
