Located near a superb typical village, this villa is very well equipped, quiet (except the alarm clock in the rooster song) and allows you to quickly access the many wonderful places of the island.
Essential car.
Great private location, beautiful home and property. Fruit and flowers everywhere! Was hard to peel away from the spacious Lanai where we enjoyed many home cooked meals. The house had everything we needed, from grill to rice cooker to snorkel gear. Really appreciated the kitchen knives being sharp, too! Similar to other reviews, roosters were a thing but its part of an authentic experience! Diane was a great host.
We loved our stay at Hale Kipa. The house is airy, breezy, plenty of room. Well-equipped kitchen to cook at home and save some money for Kauai adventures. The screened-in lanai was our favorite part. Views from the lanai are beautiful. This is what paradise looks like. The early morning rooster is a thing. He gets up around 3:30 am! Get some ear plugs, set your phone to background sounds, night setting is good. The house is in a semi-rural neighborhood yet the tourist area of Poipu is a quick 3 mile drive away and Old Koloa is right down the road. For us it was the best of both worlds. If we ever get back to Kauai we will come back here.
Diane is a great host. This is our 2nd time returning to this little slice of heaven. Its quaint, rustic charm makes for a great getaway and memories. Place is spacious and easy drive to all the southern Kauai locations
All the amenities a family could need were found in this house! The house does not have A/C but with the ceiling fans and beeeze at night we stayed the perfect temperature to sleep. We loved the location (the neighbor cows were our favorite) and the roosters became our morning joke (they are quite vocal but we enjoyed these locals waking us up). The owner left us some fresh limes and they were the best Iâve had in a long time. The views from the porch where we enjoyed morning coffee were breathtaking. The old town is a must visit and itâs so close. Puka dog (yummy) and Poipu Beach (we saw turtles both times we visited) are a short drive too and so worth it! We cannot say enough wonderful things about this house!
We had an amazing time at this beautiful, peaceful property. It's even better in person :) Great location! The owner was very responsive. Fresh mangos & limes awaited us upon our arrival. Wish we could have stayed a couple more nights!! We would definitely stay here again. We left some earplugs behind for those sensitive to the rooster's crow in the early morning
We were surprised how big and awesome this home actually was; the pictures don't do it justice! Immaculately clean, a lot larger than we expected, especially going in through the double glass doors and into that high-ceiling foyer (no pics of that!). Everything that you need to enjoy the house was supplied, from the kitchen to the bathrooms. The best thing was the peacefulness and quiet. No road, people or traffic noise. The only thing you could hear were the birds and cows. If you like crowds and lots of noise, this is not the place for you. But if you revel in soft, beautiful nature sounds and soothing breezes, this is definitely the place for you. We spent many hours relaxing on the large lanai. We will be returning the next chance we get!
The cottage was super nice. It was clean and is in an extremely convenient location. The only difficulty for us was that each night we were there we were woken up multiple times by various animals around the house. There was a rooster right outside our window that was crowing very loudly for a lot of the night. We were also awoken by what seemed to be a wild pig right outside our window. If youâre gonna stay here consider bringing ear plugs for sleeping.
This was the best vacation home ever. We most of all enjoyed sitting on the lanai and enjoying the view. The house is spacious and very well equipped. Itâs only a short drive to Poipu Beach and a 10-minute walk to Koloa, which offers some nice souvenir shopping, restaurants and grocery store. The roosters woke us early every day as they live right outside the master bedroom, but we didnât mind that too much. Definitely recommend this place!
Weâre from FL and we felt like we were at the tropical version of home. We throughly enjoyed the setting, the yard, the screened porch, all the wonder plants in the yard, the cows across the fence, and the convenience to town! Itâs definitely great to have a host next door to help with anything. Weâd love to come back!
Residential property, just what we were looking for in Koloa
We loved the cottage, location, fact that was in a residential neighborhood was a plus. Weâve stayed in the resort areas in the past and nothing compared to the location. Extremely quiet, clean, peaceful. Will return
Want to get away from the tourist hustle? This is the place. About a mile from Koloa town with shops and a full Save Big market,
The cottage is well furnished with comfortable quality pieces. All rooms have generous windows to admit the refreshing trade winds day and night. The kitchen is well equipped, though most of the frying pans have rounded bottoms that are incompatible with the induction cook top. Lots of clean towels for use in the house plus some for the beach. The house even has a fire sprinkler system!
We spent our time on the large screened porch, listening to birdsong, trade winds rustling the trees, hearing rain showers approach, an occasional neighing from a horse in the adjacent pasture. Never hear traffic or loud voices. Watching clouds scuttling by, changing the color of the forest on the mountain. We can only see a bit of two other houses so very private.
The host is thoughtful-brought over battery powered lights when the power went out island-wide.
What a gem! I enthusiastically recommend Hale Kipa!
By far, one of the best places weâve stayed because of its rustic charm, ample space, good cozy vibes. This place was a wonderful experience to disconnect from it all and have some tranquility. It is a great property for families, and fairly close to a lot of the great hotspots, but without the crowds. Would definitely recommend anyone and look forward to returning soon.
We have a 20-month old and were looking for a place with more space and amenities than a hotel and this was perfect for our budget. Our daughter slept in the provided pack n play in the second bedroom while we occupied the primary bedroom. Each evening we enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch feeling the breeze, listening to the sounds of the night (including the wildlife), and watching the geckos climb around. In the mornings we enjoyed hearing the roosters and other songbirds. The house was extremely clean and very well stocked with all the necessities: coffee maker, cookware, Tupperware, etc., cooler, tote bags, even a plethora of toiletries and bug sprays, and many beach items. Having a washer and dryer in the house was perfect. The fans were powerful and worked very well. We were comfortable here and made ourselves at home! The location is very convenient for quickly getting to the beaches or shopping in Poipu or dinner in old town Koloa, and the house itself served as a great base for our longer days of driving to the north shore and to Waimea Canyon. We mostly kept to ourselves but when minor questions arose, the hosts were very communicative and helpful.
Property was as described. Very charming cottage with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The enclosed patio was so awesome. Amazing view as you sip your morning coffee. Was easy to find and close drive to beach and town. Kitchen was well stocked with essential cooking and cleaning equipment. Property manager was responsive to a couple requests. Would definitely stay again.
Situated right outside of old Koloa town and away from the hustle and bustle of all the resorts made it the perfect place to stay. The cottage was stocked with everythjng you'd need for your vacation--full kitchen, cookware, beach towels, goggles, etc. Highly recommend and would book again when I the island dueing my next visit.
