Room was not nice the all strong smell mot bomb, outside trash full toilet Brooke, the another one not flush we have to upgrade our budge up and moved a different property. Highly disappointed

The perfect stay

We stayed in the wine down for our family vacation in July. It was the perfect pick for my family of 5! We have teenagers ages 13-15,15 and they absolutely LOVED staying here! We used the kayaks provided and my kids did plenty of fishing. My son caught several catfish along the canal. The house was very clean and accommodating. The air works great! We brought extra towels, TP and amenities of our own but plenty were already provided. There is more than enough in the kitchen as far as appliances and dish wear which was very nice. The location is close to the beach, eateries and groceries but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Galveston Seawall area. Pariah coffee became a morning ritual and is a short drive down the road. I love how there was a list of local shops, cafes, bait shops, etc. provided at the house. I found that very helpful. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. I wish I would have booked our stay for a couple more days. Maybe next time!

Renter beware. The pictures were better than the actual property. Should be listed as two bedrooms

This place is a mess. plumber came out to fix commode. Left saying too old and can’t get parts. We entertained 12 people with one toilet. Nasty downstairs. BR downstairs is uninhabitable. If kids stay there it is child abuse. Canoes nasty. Swing nasty. Refrigerator downstairs rotting. Repairs were partial. Tv only had Houston stations and channels off no watch. No sports channels. Rental people know they do not have to listen to any renter more than 5-7 days so they pacify and wait till the next renters. This place needs to be torn down and build a place that gets it into the same decade of rentals. Overall a disaster and waste of money.

Plumber came to the house and was unable to get a part that was needed for a side mounted toilet, which is not a common style of toilet (toilet has since been replaced) - there is two toilets and bathrooms on the main floor, as well as another bathroom on the ground floor. This renter also called claiming we had changed out kitchen appliances prior to his arrival, which is absolutely not true - The same appliances that our in the pictures are at the property. Refrigerator is not rotting and is clean on the inside, with a few spots of rust on the outside (it does sit outside close to the water and is intended for drinks, ect.). This guest also never called and asked about any sports channels, or we would have been happy to inform him of what channels are available at this property.

Our stay at Wine Down

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location of the house was great, layout was good for our party. The downstairs bedroom only had downstairs access. Downstairs bedroom area was unable to use for sleeping due to moldy smell, mold on back of bathroom door and walls, it had a AC dehumidifier in this room but smell was awful even after spraying with frebreeze. We did call the management Company, with no return call or solutions. We did use the shower in the bottom portion of this unit, limited amount of time spent due to smell. Therefore we had to make different sleeping arrangements upstairs for our party. Upstairs main house was clean and laid out as described. Need to remove note from toilet to "wiggle handle" as kids don't remember to do this.Home offered poles, kayaks, life jackets, bait buckets most everything you need for your stay, we did not use these items as we took our own but think this is important information to know so maybe next person won't haul so much.Overall stay was good, but this is only a 2 bedroom house until they get something done with the lower portion of the home.I am hesitant to recommend until the bottom bedroom area is fixed. If you are just able to use the upper unit I would recommend.

False advertisement/unsafe

Save yourself a lot of disappointment, do not rent this property. The pictures and description of the property are totally inaccurate. The 3rd "bedroom" is a former storage room with no central A/C. All but one room have bunk beds. Main house only has 1 shower. Strong smell of mold and mildew through out the property.

We Made It Work

We had a great weekend, the house location was great, the size of the house was perfect. But it was supposed to be a 3 bedroom and it ended up being a 2 bedroom bc the third room downstairs window unit was only blowing hot air and it's 90°+ here in Texas. Other than that we had a Jam Up Time!!!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We truly enjoyed our time at Wine Down. We had several family members and friends that came and went and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked (though randomly organized). I would suggest bringing more towels as we were there for a week and had wash and share the ones available. At first we couldn't find the washer and dryer, but did eventually when we went on the back balcony and walked between the two rooms. (We called the rental agency and they told us they'd been sold :-)) I couldn't give the rental agency 5 stars because we had difficulty getting answers to questions, however, it was a busy weekend/week so that may have been the reason. Overall extremely happy and would rent again. One thing I would hope is that if a family wants to rent both Wine Down and Wine Time, that a discount could be offered. We wanted to rent the smaller unit next door as well, but the price was just too high. On the last day, another family stayed there and it was too close. If we didn't choose this location in the future, it would be for that reason.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year staying here. We came last year when both wine time and wine down were one rental. This year they split it but we liked it so much we rented both units even if we did have to pay double the fees. Sadly, we were very disappointed with the maintenance this year. Both houses are infested with huge roaches, spiders and ants. The roaches were everywhere, they even crawled on my baby when one ran across the bed. Also, one of our toilets was broken. The tank took almost an hour to fill up with water. When I called the after hours for a service call, I got a voicemail, so I left a message, but nobody came or even returned my call. I think if they increase the fees, increase the maintenance along with it. We were eating at the dining table, and I almost fell out of a chair that’s being held together by a piece of rope. Too bad this place has gone down, we really enjoyed it last year.

Each has amazing balconies and views. Two boat docks, a kayak you can use, very nice furniture everywhere outside! You get the whole corner lot so you have plenty of room to fish. They have 2 underwater lights to use that we caught lots of fish in. Inside the houses, they are decorated very nicely. The beds were all super comfortable. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. We will be back next summer for sure!!

April Getaway

We stayed at the smaller house on the property before and decided to rent the larger one this time. Just a quick getaway to do some fishing and relieve some work stress. It was a perfect weekend, great weather, great fishing - caught lots of fish. This house isn’t super fancy but for what we needed we didn’t want to pay for a $400 - $500 night house so this was perfect

BFF getaway with our families

Guests: Me and my best friend (31 and 36) and our families. My parents (in their 50s) and sister (17), plus my bff's boyfriend and children (13 and 14). It was absolutely perfect!!! We enjoyed every minute. We had beautiful sunsets, and also a view of the full moon. I love the open concept living room / kitchen. We prefer to stay on the bayside because it is cheaper, and also you can kayak or swim in the canal. The 3rd bedroom is downstairs, almost like a separate apartment. Also, the bathroom upstairs is jack and jill, with two toilet rooms and one shared shower, which was perfect. We loved the downstairs area with the outdoor kitchen and sitting areas. We also loved the kayaks and the floating foam platform -- so much fun! Next time, we will rent the property next door as well (it's a studio) and bring more people. A few minor issues: low water pressure, wood deck is old and has splinters, the stove was hard to cook on because it didn't heat up well (but def still useable), and they did not provide very many bath towels. The upstairs deck is also very sunny during the day and a bit of shade would have been nice. Also 11 am checkout is a bit early for us... All in all, it was such a fabulous trip. We would come back for sure. Thank you!

Don't waste your money on this house!!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is not as advertised. House smells of mildew and mold. The second room downstairs is not livable and they have bunk beds in it. I would never let me kids stay in a room completely detached from main house. The second room had a dehumidifier in it to try and remove the mildew and mold smell. Walking in it takes your breath away and not in a good way. Staying in that room would probably put you in the hospital. All the outlets in the main house are worn out and won't even hold a plug in them. Most of them shoot sparks out when you attempt to plug into them. The house looks nothing like the pictures and hasn't been keep up at all. On our second day a storm blew over a glass table on the deck and shattered everywhere. Yes they had a glass table with a 6 ft umbrella in the middle of it on a deck. I'm not from the area but even I know they get very high winds and should never have glass on a deck. The management company did come clean it up kinda after a few hours. We still had to clean glass up the entire trip. I know I'm forgetting something we just had the worst vacation ever in this house and hope this saves someone from making the same mistake we did. When you get 1 vacation a year and waste 2k on a house like this it's hard to let go. Please beware
