We rented two of the apartments and took the whole family. Have stayed here 5 years now. Will come back. Make sure to watch a sunset in the swing. And look up at the stars.
Absolutely enjoyable vacation. Stayed at the dock and fished. Grandson caught and released at least 50 fish. Caught several stingrays. Saw a manatee, very close. Canât wait until next year.
This is absolutely perfect location. Perfect for fishing and kayaking! Serene marsh with beautiful sunsets, low and high tide, swing and fire pit. Short walk to the beach (10 min) to a perfect location on Tybee. Property itself is not for fancy lovers, but has everything we needed. We loved our stay, and planning on coming back next year!
We had a good time, and it is in a neat location for our kiddos. We could walk, fish off the dock and play on the playground. However, overall, this unit needs a lot of maintenance and a deep clean. The most bothersome part is that we stayed with my 10 month old who was crawling on very dirty floors. I almost bought a mop and bleach to scrub them. They need to be steam cleaned or bleached, but all that was in the unit was a swiffer. We stay in Tybee every year. Most of the rentals are older, so we are not just being picky. We can deal with old, but not dirty. There were rusted door stops and toilet paper holders. There is no central heat and air -only 3 window units that were oddly spread through the unit. The primary bedroom doesnât have an AC unit so stays quite hot. The chairs and pillows in the living room were dirty and stained. There was no hand soap and only 3 wash cloths. There were coffee grounds left in the bottom of the water reservoir of the coffee maker. Overall, the entire place needs a really good scrub and repairs. We had family staying in unit 2, and it was a bit nicer because it has new floors. The internet also doesnât work well enough to stream anything on the TV, which is all that is available. If the Roku TV was set up to allow guest accounts people could at least air play to it. Again, we did have a nice time, but these things matter. I want to leave an honest review so that the rental can be improved for future guests.
The property was clean I enjoyed my stay the kids loved the playground/swing set. It could have had a few more items like washcloths in the bathrooms as there was only one per bathroom and hand towels in the kitchen
This is our favorite family vacation place. We rent two of the apartments. Everyone has their hang out spots. The kids love the playground and adults love the dock and screen house. A nice 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach.
Many little quirks. But I didnât pay for the Taj Mahal. I paid for family time.. Love this place.
We brought kayaks and it was a little hard getting them in the water at the dock, but loved the dock house area every night for sunset! Beautiful - needs more supplies in kitchen- there was a note about the cold water in the one bathroom being replaced but we basically took cold showers - the other bathroom has no outlet - but for the price and the quaintness of this old home, we overall loved it !!! Short walk to beach , and short drive to anything-
We really liked the open living space, two full baths (one in one of three bedrooms), and convenience to beach. Kitchen not appointed for meal prep, lacked basic items I am used to seeing (toilet paper, trash bags, beach items and dish towels). Wash machine broke on second day of nine-day stay and not fixed during visit. Internet very weak and couldnât be used by our group of six; worked fine for one person. Thanks for the chance to give feedback. These are very fixable things.
Nice property but needs some updating and better accuracy in description
Arrived and found that the central hvac hasn't worked for multiple years. Cooling was only done by window units in some of the bedrooms. House was comfortable but it was mild temps while we were there.
As for accuracy, there was not a washer and dryer for the unit, but rather one was 'available' to use and shared by all units and not in a convenient location.
the marsh dock was very nice, and enjoyable. I think the property owner needs to invest a bit into the property to make it more acceptable. Considering the price was comparable to others we've stayed at, we would choose the other separately.
Mold stains around the rub, dirt in the corners, mold on the dishes, no dish cloths, one dish towel hanging, but we weren't sure if it was clean or not. No trash bags, no dishwasher pods, on hand soap in one of the restrooms. No dish soap. The bedroom with the bathroom had no air-conditioning. Window units only. The wi-fi never got above two bars so you couldn't use the TV or laptops. Cell service was spotty at best. The Keurig was missing a part, so no coffee. There's a terrible smell in the kitchen that smells like a dead mouse or something. There were two massive cockroaches that we had to kill. The place itself is kinda cute, but is in desperate need of a deep clean and needs a lot of repairs. Communication with the owner or host was the most aggravating part. I sent emails asking about coffee makers, etc. And I got zero response until 2 days before we were to leave and my questions still weren't answered. I wouldn't recommend this place. They need a new housekeeper.
This is by far one of the worst VRBO experiences I have had.
When we arrived on day one, someone was in our rental. They were supposed to be in unit 2 but somehow gained access to our unit. I understand that is a mistake but the response from the host was the most unprofessional. We called the number on the sign to find out what was going on. She seemed confused as to how we got her number. Told us she doesnât normally conduct business on her personal phone but would call Loren, the maintenance man, who lives on the property. Loren was great and very helpful. Priscilla, on the other hand, was not. She never picked up or returned any of Lorenâs phone calls or ours after we found out what happened. So Loren was left to do all the work in getting the people into the right unit and finding a cleaner last minute. We had to stand outside in the heat with all our groceries in the car for this duration. The house was finally ready at 6.
Priscilla never called back or responded to any other messages sent throughout the weekend.
If you do plan on staying on this property, realize you will need to pack a lot of extra stuff like hand soap, linens, paper towels, cups, measuring cups, trash bags, etc. The house does not offer much in amenities.
The dock was very nice and that is definitely their selling point. But would not stay here again.
It was our third time coming to Tybee, and it's only because we love this place so much! Walking distance to the nice part of the beach, easy access to excellent kayking in the marsh, perfect for fishing! If you are a nature lover you will be in love with this place!
First, let me start by saying it was a really nice stay. However, there were things that definitely could be improved upon. To begin with the main bathroom did not drain properly and you were showering in ankle-deep water; the 2nd bathroom was fine. There were no wine glasses available, so evening glasses were coffee cups. The red chairs (which was how we identified this property) need a good scrubbing. The extra toliet paper was not stored in a cabinet but on the TPstand and the extra rolls were dirty and stained from floor cleaning. Not very pretty to look at or use. Finally, there were no towel racks in the bathrooms, so towels were hung on door knobs or the shower rod. There were a few other things but I stress again, it was a nice stay, clean and a beautiful location. But the little things do matter.
The property was excellent, some plumbing issues, leaking faucets.
The communication with the host was horrible. We were never told our unit # so we waited for a while to check in. In trying to call the mailbox was full, a lot of unanswered questions. When you logged into the WIFI you were notified of weak security.
The history behind the home: Several years ago, my husband and I purchased this home. The previous owners had divided the site into 4 separate spaces complete with separate entries. Our initial thought was to convert the property back to 1 whole space sans the divisions. We however soon found that to do so would involve essentially tearing the structure down and starting over as these renovations would require that we bring the building up to current code. This home is pre- 1970's and because of the nostalgia and charm of the place, we decided to leave it as is for now. Having said this, there are quirks to the property including slower drains, and some nostalgic flooring dating. to the 1970's. We personally. love the. character or the place and hope you will enjoy it as well!
