Being right on the marsh made it feel secluded then walk a few blocks and your on the strip and then the beach. Absolutely loved fishing and catching fish i have never even seen before.
Had a great family vacation. Rented two of the apartments. Sit in the swing and watch the sunset. Make sure look up at the stars. Canât wait until next year.
Everything was great except the mattresses on beds. Fishing was fantastic and fun, unit was vintage and cute. Care taker is fantastic. But the beds where so hard. I ordered a padded topper from Walmart and they delivered it to help some, but wasn't enough. Other than that we felt it was fine!
My 2 children and I came and stayed in March for Spring Break. Very easy check in, Loren was great and answered any questions we had. We had a great time and would recommend staying. Thanks for the memories.
We have been coming here for years. This trip we had grandkids from 29 to 2yrs old.. it was great to sit on the deck and in the dock house while they fished.
Loren was perfect as aways.
When we get to old to make the trip,I'm positive the grands will keep up our tradition.
This is the 2nd time we have atayed here and it is perfectly amazing. Has just enough for our family of 6. Easy check in and out. Property manager responds swiftly and is super polite. We plan to stay here again next year.
It is on the older side, but its quaint. It was roughly a 10 mins walk to the IGA, a little less to the beach (staright walk and a less crowded area). Our biggest issue was that the lock on the door was worn out and wouldnt lock properly. I ended up meeting Loren who is kind of like the care taker (sweet little man and sweet puppy) who came up and helped us with the door.
dThe upstairs apt 3, was very roomy, 3 separate bedrooms, large living room, and eating area, plus kitchen and bathroom. Outside deck is huge, and BBQs are available for use as well. The path that leads out to the dock and enclosed Porch/House is just a short walk, and well worth it. There was an issue with the AC upon our arrival, and within one hour, there was a brand new portable AC unit brought in. There is a "super" living right at the property, so ANY issue we brought to his attention was handled quickly. The property manager was also very reachable by text and was very accommodating! Beautiful property. will absolutely revisit here again!
The house has been updated. The beds are comfortable but the house has window units which keep the bedrooms cool but not the living areas. One ceiling fan was out so hopefully it will be replaced soon. Overall the house was perfect for us, we just left the bedroom doors open in the day that let some of the cool air into the living area which helped. The beach is about 5 blocks. And it is an easy bicycle ride to breweries, etc. we stayed here about 13 years ago when another owner owned it and boy has it been improved! Perhaps a box fan in a closet might be nice to move air out of a bedroom into the living area. Thx
This was the perfect place to stay if you enjoy quiet and relaxation. The dock house was the perfect place to grill and enjoy with family and have game night. The walk to the beach is about 5 block, and takes about 10 minutes, it is a straight shot, but not a lot of shade. It takes you to a quieter part of the beach. The maintenance person was on sight and was so kind. He let my daughter borrow his boogie board for the beach!
One thing that may deter someone is that the air conditioning is window units. Another is that this unit is up a flight of steps. We did struggle with working the tv, but then decided not to worry about it because we were on vacation and wanted to unplug anyhow. We did not care about those things! The kitchen had a nice array of cooking supplies. The beds were comfortable. The swing set in the back provided hours of fun for our little one. There were lizards and fiddler crabs all over the place. I will be recommending this property! I will also be looking to rent it again when we choose Tybee as our vacation destination!
Weâve stayed here once before in one of the downstairs apartments, we stayed in the upstairs apartment this time. We enjoyed our stay immensely and plan to return in the future. There are a few hiccups that people should be aware of, Wi-Fi was nonexistent for our stay. We were provided 2 different mobile hotspots and neither received signal, so we were without WiFi service for our stay. Our cellphones had coverage and we were able to stay connected but be prepared that you probably wonât have streaming services and virtually no local tv channels.
Upstairs kitchen is small and somewhat cramped but provided tons of pots/pans/dishes/ glassware and appliances for cooking.
Upstairs apartment is cooled by window unit air conditioners in the 3 bedrooms. It can be insufficient to comfortably cool the living area, during hot months.
Home was clean, caretaker on site was friendly and accommodating. The dock house was a favorite place to spend the evenings on the marsh.
Cleanliness was our biggest concern - and thatâs from folks who love the salt life in Georgia. This was our fourth trip to Tybee and fourth place we stayed at - this is the only one we knocked for cleanliness. Towels, pillows and comforters were dirty and stained. The shower drain was visibly clogged full of hair (also, the shower curtain liner was torn in half and a shower knob was missing). I had read in the reviews about it being warmer in the common area than the bedrooms - this was noticeably true. We kept the hostâs box fan blowing in the common area to help circulate air because one of the two ceiling fans did not work. Window units in the bedrooms made temperatures able to be adjusted to comfort. Communication was also lacking with the host. I waited ~3wks then had to follow up - the host finally responded. Weeks in advance, I asked host if we could check in at 3p instead of 4p, and the host said that can be accommodated. However, when we arrived at 3p, the cleaning crew was still working - the host had told them 4p. We waited until the cleaning crew told us they were done. With negatives aside, the place served its purpose for our family. It was an easy walk to the beach, the marsh view was nice, and it had space for our kids to play outside.
This is my new favorite place to go. It is centrally located to everything, and spacious. The back deck over looking the marshland and creek is breathtaking.
I almost want to write a bad review so no one will go so it will always be available for me. But no, if you are looking for a place to stay while in Tybee. This is the place. I wish I could live here.
We were very pleased with our stay & hope to stay again. Tybee Island is really nice. This house is close to everything & having the back unit there was lots of privacy. It was so relaxing we will definitely be back.
We had a good stay with our family of four. This is tucket away off the beaten path, has a nice dock house, and offers a nice respite from the busyness of the rest of the island. This would have been a five star, great stay, if there would have been little things like hand soap, dish soap, and Kleenex. We ended up going to the island grocery store and grabbing them, so it wasn't a big deal. Overall, we had a nice time.
We began staying at this property over 10 years ago. We sort of lost track of it during Covid and were thrilled to see it was again listed albeit with new owners. It was available and we snapped it up!!
So what to say.......first of all I absolutely don't get the negative comments in some of the reviews. We arrived and were able to check in with no issues. The place was spotless. Contrary to what others have said, there was no odor (NONE), no bugs and all was clean. In fact, we were amazed at the improvements that have been made on the property. There's a new stove and fridge, new flooring and furnishings and it was nicely decorated. We had plenty of towels although we brought our own just in case. And I always bring extra dish towels as we cook while there. There were dishes, utensils, pots and pans. I typically bring my own napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap and foil just for convenience.
The property is on a beautiful marsh with a sweet boathouse. Fishing is lots of fun. Bring a minnow bucket and trap and hot dogs to bait it with and go for it!! You can't beat the views. There's a 5 minute walk to the beach. If you choose to drive, there's paid parking available. The beach is just gorgeous.
I can't say enough about this particular location and Tybee as a whole. We love it there for family vacations. The one down side from previous trips is that you MUST make dinner reservations at almost anywhere you plan to eat. We made the mistake of going to A J's for dinner. There were zero seats in the shade. We were able to do a take out which I definitely DO NOT recommend. 3 of us ended up paying $85 for a cold and mediocre meal after waiting nearly 1/2 hour to get it. Will skip this place and return to our favorite, Sunday's.
Otherwise, this was a great time away. I highly recommend this location. We had the upstairs. I was able to check out the downstairs unit where I've also stayed and was amazed at the improvements made there also. Although the views are not as spectacular, you don't have to traverse the steps! Can't wait to return!!
The history behind the home: Several years ago, my husband and I purchased this home. The previous owners had divided the site into 4 separate spaces complete with separate entries. Our initial thought was to convert the property back to 1 whole space sans the divisions. We however soon found that to do so would involve essentially tearing the structure down and starting over as these renovations would require that we bring the building up to current code. This home is pre- 1970's and because of the nostalgia and charm of the place, we decided to leave it as is for now. Having said this, there are quirks to the property including slower drains, and some nostalgic flooring dating. to the 1970's. We personally. love the. character or the place and hope you will enjoy it as well!
