This house is darling! It was a great location, just a couple blocks from the beach. The Fourth of July bicycle parade was right on the street where the house is perfect for our family.
We have stayed on Tybee Island for years and this was our first time at Sea la Vie. The house is in the perfect location with beach access nearby and the ability to walk to shops and restaurants. We loved the screened in porch and spent most nights there. The house was perfect for our family and we hope to stay again soon.
Great location and clean. This house was perfect for our Tybee Island stay. I would recommend an update on stove and add ROKU for easy movie nights.
Thank you- Julie đ
Such a charming house in a great location. The house was very clean and the outdoor patio was our favorite spot for unwinding at the end of a beach day. Easily walkable to the grocery store and beach, and plenty of room for an active family. The kitchen is small but who wants to cook much on vacation anyway? Perfect excuse for sandwiches and game night at the table.
This was our first time in Tybee, and it was over the 4th of July week, so it was definitely busy everywhere as expected! The location of this little cottage, was wonderful as we could get to either side of the island via bike pretty quickly. Biking at Tybee was very enjoyable! Space-wise, the cottage had everything we needed and generally amenity-wise too. Everything was very well-worn, especially the diswasher and washer and dryer (both of which were extremely loud when we ran them at night). We like to cook at home while at the beach with our young children, and the kitchen pot and pan supply was rather slim, but we made it work! There was a lot of peeling paint throughout the house as well as on the exterior, but it felt clean inside despite that. Mary was wonderful to communicate with us prior to check-in and run through all the ins and outs and quirks of the house. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
There's a lot to love in this little cottage near the beach: the check-in process is very easy, the rooms look exactly as described. It's a very clean and comfortable place, with nice linens and enough dishes and cookware if you want to cook (the only? market on the island is very close by). The grill was also great (as well as the communication: we couldn't get it started to begin with, and the owners responded promptly to address our questions). The beach is very close by, an easy walk and the outdoor shower is super useful. We brought our bikes and were able to take advantage of being right on the bike path as well. The only downside was that we need firmer beds to sleep and two were pretty soft - probably one mattress could use replacing. But other than this, it's a super easy and straightforward stay, which helps since that's the point of a Tybee getaway!
This is a smaller cottage with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. There is a back hallway with two bunk beds. The 2nd bedroom is only accessible through either the first bedroom or the bathroom- or by walking around house to the back door. 1.5 blocks from grocery store and 3 blocks from beach access. Bike rentals within 5 blocks. My wife and I stayed with our two teenage daughters and they each brought a friend. It was tight but comfortable. Bring your own essentials like TP, paper towels etc. Beds were clean and comfortable. Pots and pans pretty basic but dishwasher worked well. Located on main bike route for island which was pretty cool.
Although small, this cottage is very charming and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is great, on a quiet little street only four blocks to the beach. The beds are comfortable and the AC did a great job of keeping the house plenty cool. I loved the back porch and the outdoor shower. However, the night before we arrived the owner told me that the bikes there belong to her daughter and are not for our use and that there is a bike rental place nearby, which is true, but they should not list bikes as a part of the rental if that is not the case. There also was not a kayak on the property even though the listing said there was. Both of these were disappointing to us, as we definitely would have used them all, and the listing should be updated to reflect that. If you like to cook, the kitchen supplies are minimal. The only knives were steak knives, so bring your own knives. The coffee maker is a Keurig. The listing says there are spices, but there was only salt and pepper. Of course we got by and enjoyed our stay. These are first world problems. I just point these things out because I wish I had known and would have packed accordingly.
Our family of six enjoyed a week at the adorable Sea La Vie. This little cottage was plenty big for everyoneâŠall 16 yrs and up. The bunk beds were my main concern, but Ms. Nadeau assured us that they were comfortable, and she was right. Two guys (ages 16yrs and 18yrs) were able to sleep comfortably. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the hot water heater held up! Between washing laundry and daily showers, we never ran out of hot water!! There were multiple fans for those who like to sleep with a fan. The AC kept the house nice and cool in the sweltering July heat. The small kitchen was well organized and stocked with everything we needed. I really appreciated a decent supply of cleaning products so that we could keep our temporary home-base clean. This charming house has a wonderful screened in back porch that I look forward to using during cooler months! The walk to the beach was enjoyable, safe, and fairly short, as was the walk to south beach for tourist shops and restaurants. The only things that would have made our stay perfect would be having a vacuum cleaner and a few dish cloths. There is a Bissell Sweeper, broom, and dustpan that I put to good use. We also bought a few dish cloths to use while we were there. I highly recommend bug spray. We âdonatedâ a few pints of blood between the six of usâŠthis is nothing out of the ordinary for Tybee Island; just a recommendation. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Nadeau for renting out your cottage. We plan to return in the future.
We spent a great week in july, 2 adults + 2 kids (3 & 6 yo). House was 5mn walk to the beach (never more than 10 people when we went there, beach is large, sand is great), 5mn to the IGA grocery store. Bike would be preffered to easily test restaurants close by. Be aware that there are 2 real bedrooms, and in between bunk beds but wouldn't recommend having kids sleeping there, unless you don't have the choice.
I fully recommend this house, thanks again to Mary who seemed really nice, despite the fact that we couldn't meet, she has been great in communication.
We had a wonderful week at Tybee. The house was perfect for us and our three tweens. Great location to the beach, beautiful back porch, and plenty of amenities inside. Laundry, dishwasher, etc. The grill needs propane so we couldnât use it unfortunately, and the swing pictured in photos is no longer there. Other than that, the house is as pictured! Comfortable beds and living spaces and great communication from the owner. Thank you!
This property was way bigger than I had imagined. We had 2 adults, 3 teens and a 4 year old. Everyone had their own bed. 2 full baths were clutch. The kitchen was small but we made it work! The cottage was nice and cool and the water pressure in the showers were amazing. My only small complaint was we could have used some extra toilet paper and garbage bags. The location was perfect for walking to the beach. Less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and right around the corner from the IGA! Overall I highly recommend this staying here! The cottage is so stinkin cute and very spacious! Oh and the outdoor shower was essential to not dragging in sand! The dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were very nice to have.
Clean place. Old house with a bit of and odd layout. Convenient to get to the market and nice walk to the beach. Area is beautiful. My family enjoyed the stay.
Had a great 2 week stay at this adorable beach house! 3 short block walk to the beach. Located midway on island so an easy walk to most restaurants. Quiet street that is designated as a bike path. House is adorable with tons of sitting. Swing in front, ample living room seats and an adorable enclosed porch area in the backyard.. Outdoor shower to rinse off from the beach and tons of hooks everywhere to hang and dry bathing suits/towels. Given a basic starter kit of toilet paper/paper towel, laundry detergent, dish washer soap. Very basic kitchen condiments for cooking. Towels for bathroom supplied (bring your own for beach). No outdoor lights so make sure you leave one on inside the house or you won't be able to see anything when returning later. All in all a fantastic vacation and would definitely return and stay at Mary & James Sea La Vie beach house!
Starting with our favorite aspect... the screened porch....we took all of our meals there except when it was nippy outside. In the evening we read out there as well. The porch was private, mostly quiet (just neighbors next door talking...a lot) and quaint. Quaint is a good word to describe the entire experience in both the cottage and on the island.
The cottage is an old girl spruced up to look cute and perky with those charming vibrant coastal colors. I would have liked a few extras like superhosts provide... maybe more napkins, paper towels, more garbage bags, starter clothes washing powder, salt and pepper, a little oil... even bikes or a beach cart would have been cool. But the basics were nice and with just the two of us it worked. And I was surprised to find a Brita... yaaaaay.
The island was magical, and with very few people this time of year...perfect for getting away from the virus.
I do need to mention the bed. When we sat on it my side made a squeak each time I got up...I'm little. Under my husband's less than 180 lb weight the bed sank significantly. But, guess what!? We slept longer, more peacefully and just as comfortably as we do at home on our expensive firm mattress. I even thought of trying to stick the mattress in our car to take home like people steal hotel towels. But I was afraid Mary might notice. LOL
We have to give Tybee Island some credit for the wonderful nights of sleep. Seems like everybody on the island goes to bed at 9pm!! We didn't even hear ourselves snoring! It's as if there's a real sandman there who sprinkles sleepy dust in everybody's eyes and ears until daybreak.
Bottom line...I can't wait to go back.
We would def stay in this place again, close to beach and clean. Larger Families or longer stays will need to make sure to have extra things like toilet paper and garbage bags. But we would recommend it.
Enjoyed our stay. The house is relatively small, but accommodated our little family well for the week. The location is great, center island right on the bike trail. Thanks for letting us enjoy your beach cottage for the week.
Great house and location. Perfect for our trip, two adults and one teen. Beds super comfortable. House nice and clean. Screened in porch and small table for two perfect in the mornings when temp was a little cooler. Jim and Mary easy to deal with before trip answered all our questions. Very genuine and wanted us to enjoy their home as much as they do! Would definitely return!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Very short walk to the beach. Quiet location. Absolutely loved the screened in porch off the back! Only negatives were they do not provide any staples such as coffee or hand soap etc. very limited amount of toilet paper and paper towels so bring your own. Owners super friendly and helpful. Make sure you go to huckapoos! Best deal and best pizza on the island!
This cozy cottage was perfect for two couples traveling together to enjoy Tybee Island and Savannah.
We enjoyed early morning and evening walks on the beach, the quiet street, the restaurants and sights to see on the island and in Savannah. The cottage is comfortable and well furnished, with a fun island flair. Jim and Mary were very responsive to questions and we felt right at home. The beds were very comfortable and the entire cottage was spotless. You can tell a lot of love has been put into âSea la Vie!â
The only thing I would change would be to change out the hot incandescent light bulbs for cooler and more efficient LEDs over time. A small thing, but it would help on hot days.
