What a lovely place for a getaway! We enjoyed our two days at the Nest. Very close to wineries for wine tasting and in a quiet neighborhood, perfect to come home to at the end of the day. We made coffee in the AM and had wine in the evening. Such a cute little bungalow for a short or long term stay! It was very clean and easy to find. We will be back!
Tough to beat and also tough to live with. It's complicated!
5 stars to the owner, Peg, as she seemed to be available 24/7 which was really appreciated. Also 5 stars to the location (right off Hwy 12) and stones throw from Oliver's Market. Also 5 stars to the quiet neighborhood and 5 stars to the water heater which provided an abundance of hot water.
The 'tough to live with' issues were as follows.
1. The inside cottage temperature hovered in the mid 50's. At issue was the tiny vent (only 1) would emit almost no heat when on and was regulated by the person living in the main house. That meant if they went away for a period of time or were too warm themselves, the heat was turned off. There was NO way to rectify this other than using a space heater. I purchased (and was reimbursed) another space heater to cover the small living room area. But between the two space heaters the temperature inside was just livable/ok...as long as I was wearing a fleece jacket.
2. WiFi. Never kept a continuous connection for more than 10 minutes before disconnecting. Really frustrating to lose the connection over and over and over again. Thank goodness for phone hotspot!
3. Neighbor's (person in main house) cooking wafts through the one and only vent into the cottage, so hope you like garlic and bacon on occasion.
In life everything, usually, has a trade off...so the trade off with this VRBO location is the price. That one is really tough to beat!
Peg was very communicative and welcoming. She let us know that there was going to be a neighborhood music event on Friday evening; while it didn't happen, it was kind to let us know and would have been most welcome. Great, quiet location.
Pegâs cottage was pristine and equipped with all the essentials. Tastefully decorated and thoughtful. She was a true pleasure to book with in terms of communication. All directions were very clear, making the process simple and enjoyable. I highly recommend this space.
This is my second visit. Everthing is close by for me. Peg is an extremely gracious host. Her property is immaculate, quaint and her communication fast. This is my favorite spot to stat when visiting.
This space is perfect for 1-2 people. Kitchen and bathroom fully stocked with comfy bed. I'm staying again in Nov. I really enjoyed the location. Area is quiet.
Very clean and well maintained. It was nice to he able to check on without having to arrange meeting anyone there. I appreciated the quick responses to all inquiries.
Pros:
- close proximity to downtown Santa Rosa, wine country, etc
- very comfortable bed
- clean
- no host interaction needed to access vrbo
Cons:
- I read "cozy cottage" and assumed this was stand-alone. It is important to note that it is a converted side of a residence, so the bedroom shares a locked door with the kitchen. Expect some loud mornings if you're there during the school year
- street parking only that resulted in our rental car getting scratched
- late night check-in is difficult with the side gate, maybe just needs more detailed instructions on the little pull string!
- door has to be lifted up within the frame to lock and unlock
Overall a good place to stay. I would especially recommend as a place to experience the Santa Rosa craft beer scene, which was an unexpected bonus for us!
I highly recommend the Cozy Cottage. Peg, the host, was very easy to work with and was able to accommodate me for my summer internship in Santa Rosa. The place has everything you need and would be a great home base for any Sonoma County trip. It is located in a very nice neighboorhood as well.
Wonderful cozy cottage for a weekend getaway! Close to wineries, hiking & restaurants. I really enjoyed myself. Thank you for sharing your home with me!
Perfect in many ways!! Great location, comfortable, clean, everything you need, a perfect little cottage for wine tasting in the Valley! The steps up to the bathroom a bit scary in the middle of the night, but that was no big deal!!
Easy accessible. No interaction necessary with property manager. $11 Uber to downtown Santa Rosa, $30 Uber to Healdsburg common. Worked perfectly for a wine tasting home base.
We bought this property to be able to enjoy the wineries and beautiful weather of Sonoma County. It was also a stopgap for families that lost their homes in the 2017 wildfires.
