The cabin was clean, dog friendly, and as you can tell by the pictures, has a spectacular view. Really takes your breath away. Communication was quick and easy. Our original code to get into the cabin wasn't working so we called and they gave us the master code. Only took a few minutes. As others have stated, you can hear the traffic from the road but it didn't bother us at all. There are lots of hiking options and attractions nearby. There's also a Lowes Foods just down the road for groceries. Everything was perfect. The only thing that was a little nerve wracking was getting out of the driveway and on the road. There's a sharp turn at the driveway and people are flying around it. There was a few times we almost got hit, but it's nothing to keep us from coming back. We absolutely loved it!
This beautiful property is situated on a mountain side with a beautiful view of grandfather mountain. We enjoyed the side porch picnic table and rocking chairs every morning and evening. The recliners were awesome to lounge as a big group in the evenings. Other reviews mentioned the driveway entering a busy highway. That is accurate however manageable. The driveway is steep but in the warm weather we did not have any issues. Those points were worth the incredible view and number of beds! Other reviews mentioned noises from neighboring animals. We absolutely loved the rooster giving a little crow every once in a while. We could NOT hear him inside the house. We also enjoyed the occasional baying from the hound dog next door. We felt like the local sounds added to the whole mountain experience. We enjoyed the house for a friends trip to Grandfather mountain and local hiking.
The location and property were amazing! The only downside was the driveway is scary to pull out of because itâs on a wooded corner. We loved our stay and property management was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Great view of the mountains right from your front porch!
This property was everything we hoped it would be. Great location close to everything, Banner Elk, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Sugar and Beech Mountains! Hot tub was very nice. The only drawbacks/negatives had nothing to do with the cabin or property managers, the neighbors left their dog chained up outside and it barked and howled a lot. Word of caution, leaving can be a bit tricky because there is a blind curve on the highway to the left right before you would pull out and traffic comes very, very fast.
We had an amazing stay. The cabin is easy to find (the driveway is very steep so be prepared for snow with AWD/4Wd). There is ample parking available and check in was super easy. Communication with the host is fast and thorough. The cabin is very spacious and we really appreciated that there were sufficient furnishings as well with a table that can seat a large party, comfortable living area seating, night stands and lamps in all the bedrooms, etc. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with every pot, pan or small appliance you could need. Plenty of towels, cozy beds/bedding and full laundry room, too. We cooked lots of meals together, played games (there is a nice supply of games provided), and enjoyed the hot tub. The provided binder of local attractions and restaurants was also very handy. I would absolutely choose this property again for a return trip!
Location is outstanding, home is cool! Needs to ge maintained! A/C did not work, compressor does not function! Reported with no response. Refrigerator didn't work, replacement also was non functioning. Property and Location are amazing. Ive never had these issues with one of your properties before.

Noisy but Pretty
Our stay was good overall, the loudness of the highway from the house was noisier than we anticipated. We did have trouble with the lights staying on and with the AC circulating properly. The code did not work upon arrival (with 3 kids and 2 dogs at 9pm) and the second code given did not work either. The cabin company was very helpful and quick to solve the issue. It was not the cleanest property (a lot of stains on downstairs carpet) but it is pet friendly. Overall we had a good time and the view was pretty!
Itâs was a quick trip as we had tickets to Grandfather Glows and the kids (teenagers) wanted to come along. It was close enough to grandfather that we didnât worry about leaving them behind during the event. They each had their own room always a plus. Everything worked like it should. Nobody ran out of hot water. The wifi ran all their gadgets and Xboxes without any lagging. I donât know what else to say I knew it was an older house. There was a neighbor close by we never heard or saw so we tried to do them the same courtesy.
I have never traveled and stayed somewhere for Thanksgiving, so this was really exciting for our family. I have always loved Grandfather mountain and Banner Elk, so this was the perfect place when we found it. The cabin is very cozy and comforting. There was plenty of space for all of us. Other than the food and a couple other minor things, we had everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner. It was full of household items that you would need on a regular basis (pots/pans, Pyrex, silverware, dishes, coffee pots, etc). They were plenty of towels and washcloths. The hot tub came in handy a few nights. If you were to ask me for any constructive critique's, I would say that the kitchen lighting could be a little better. Unfortunately, the lights above the island kept going in and out and the cabin sits down a small driveway next to a house ( the neighbors were very quiet with the exception of their dogs but we didnât care because we all have dogs). Other than that I have no complaints and would definitely stay again!
Upon arriving to the house we noticed a lot of ground trash, We pulled vines off the house and picked up trash before the arrival of our main guest! The refrigerator went out and it took them three days & we lost tons of food but we eventually got a new one after replacements that did not worn but they were very gracious and giving us a food credit! House was somewhat dirty with dog hair on the furniture
And the house was located on top of a very busy highway⊠Jacuzzi looked dirty and cover doesnât work plus Lots of trash on the ultra slick wood deck! House really needs to be deep clean but overall we had a good stay and the location is central to everything just felt the pictures over sold the property vs price ! Itâs very charming and management responded quickly and over all fun town and decent house ! Thx
* outside of the house the land canât be used itâs so steep and the one hammock was broken which was a bummer
I will not be returning to this Cabin. Besides the many safety hazards for children and dogs. There was a mean neighbor yelling at us. Safety issues; debris covering back yard, old extension cord hanging from TV to run, massive unsafe bundle of cords not only in visual site, but also in children's reach, and the stair railing screws are pulling away from wall.Within the first 2 hours, we found thick layers of dust on all surfaces, on bathroom wood walls, on all shelving, and on ceiling fans. There were food spots on kitchen window shade, several hairs found on pillow case, and mice dropping on the spare bedding. There was no way any cleaning was performed prior to arrival. We were excited about the hot tub until we looked at it. The wooden structure ceiling was falling down right on top of hot tub. Then there was the neighbor yelling at us to get off his driveway (which a shared driveway). Then accused my dog of killing their free range chickens in his front yard. My deaf 14 yrs old dog, did not kill a chicken, nor at her age could even run to catch anything. To top this trip off the refrigerator was dying. Our ice cream was soup and the refrigerator was not holding a cold temperature. We notified the management company on day one. They provided a refund of less than 1/4 of rental rate, and required us to waste our vacation time to allow a used refrigerator be placed, and provided a quick cleaning surface during stay. Save yourself self the hassle and donât stay here.
This cabin had the most well appointed kitchen Iâve ever seen in a vacation rental. My kids have food allergies so we tend to cook on vacation and I was so blessed by the numerous baking pans, measuring cups/spoons, pots of every size, cutting boards, and tons of kitchen tools. Thereâs plenty of cutlery, dishes and enough gadgets for a coffee drinker. I thought Iâd have to mix my cookies by hand but there was a handheld mixer to use! Such a great surprise. The kitchen dish towels were very water repellent (maybe the housekeeper needs to use less fabric softener) and really didnât dry the dishes.
There was very little hand soap in the bathrooms considering we had nine people staying for a week. Thatâs just not the kind of thing I think to pack on vacation. We just barely had enough.
The housekeeper left an envelope asking for a tip, which irked me considering we paid a cleaning fee and the floors werenât clean. They were free of debris but when we wiped up something we dropped on the kitchen floor the first night, the paper towel turned dark grey.
The driveway has a blind turn and the mirror at the road for it is very difficult to see. It was quite dangerous and nerve wracking each time we had to leave the cabin. The fire pit is lovely, AC in the cabin works really well, and itâs a nice place to stay but the road noise made sitting outside less relaxing.
We were extremely dissatisfied with the cabin.
- The description states it sleeps 9 guests, it does not, it sleeps 8. Sofa is not a sofa bed. One of our guests had to sleep on the couch.
-The cabin was dirty. All the glasses and plates were dirty. When we tried loading the dishwasher to clean the glassware the dishwasher fell out of the cabinetry.
-Went to use one of the extra towels and it was stained. I have pictures.
-The extra blankets smelled moldy as if they had not been washed in months.
-The worst part though was the roaches in the kitchen. We had to buy roach traps and lay them all around the kitchen. Horrible!
-The place is very outdated. Lost power in the kitchen on the second day we were there because we plugged in a toaster in an outlet we shouldn't have! The shower on the first floor was either scalding hot or cold. I mean these are not the conditions you keep a rental property in.
-The only positive thing I can write about the cabin is the view. The view is pretty.
Needless to stay we will NEVER stay here again and hope the management company/owner updates and exterminates the place.
After much debate on which place to stay, given the pictures and description, we thought this place looked the best. We were sadly mistaken. They wait until the period in which you wonât get your $$ back for you to fill out an additional lease agreement and emails that request the full names and ages of everyone in the party. Nothing makes you feel more on eggshells then signing your life away before staying somewhere.
Upon arrival, the place wasnât cleanâ crumbs on the table and kitchen, deadbolt wasnât working on the door, 2 cockroaches in the kitchen, and as we were bringing our items in, our elderly dog fell down the steep wooden stairs to the basement. A few bumps and bruises he ended up being okay, but it worried us with a toddler and 9 year oldâ we reached out to the property manager asking if they had a barrier or baby gate for safety purposes and they directed us to rent or purchase one. We purchased one and left it at the property out of good faith for anyone else traveling with little ones or fur babies. No soap to wash your hands, the bathroom smelt like urine (the shower curtain was saturated in stains), and when we went to go shower after a long day of travel, the shower was completely broken and the downstairs toilet wasnât working. Apparently the cleaners flush old soap in the toilet. 7 people and only one working toiletâ not ideal. It took them over 48 hours to fix it. No offer of a refund for our inconvenience. Worst place weâve ever stayed.
It is a well built and generally well-maintained property, spoiled by being so close to NC 105, from which truck noise and truck fumes make it impossible to enjoy the outside facilities in the middle of the day.
The pillows need replacing as they are dirty and old.
It was our very first Wood Cabin Experience and I want to say that the view from the cabin of the mountians was awesome. Proximity to nearby Banner Elk town for grocery, eateries & local stores was a very convient factor from this cabin. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good safe time in a wood cabin in the mountains without being too secluded.
The cabin was clean and comfortable.
The noise from the road was a bit more than we expected when we booked it, but after reading some of the reviews we knew to expect it.
The views made up for it. Lots of hiking trails, getting into driveway from the direction of Boone was a little tricky but better from Banner Elk direction.
Would rent this cabin again.
Thank you for your hospitality!!
Stayed in banner elk for my daughters wedding with my whole family
The house was very cute. However the furniture needs some work and the dishes were all chipped. I was disappointed in the stocking of the house. 2 rolls of toilet paper for a house that sleeps 8 is clearly insufficient. And many of the things such as lights and hair dryer did not work. The peppery was beautiful but do wish there would have been some forewarning about the road noise. The hot tub was fabulous. Overall our experience was nice but we would not rent that particular house again.
