Kind hosts, beautiful property, and a great town, all minutes from real Acadia hikes or the coffee shop (which even has gluten free whoopie pies). The weather is perfect for hiking, even the kids didnât complain. Canât wait to go back. Thank you!!!
Quirky was good and wash/dryer was a plus but information was lacking - where were the bins for trash and recycle The bathroom, particularly the shower was a major drawback and no workingnight lite was a problem. Outlets were not convenient Would not rent it again.
Comfortable, light and airy in nice setting with everything you need to cook in or close enough to walk to SW Harbor restaurants. Nice outdoor space and easy walk up to Main St to catch the Island explorer bus. Great hiking nearby. Hosts very responsive will definitely stay again.
A cozy, comfortable place with an incredibly well-stocked kitchen in terms of supplies for cooking. A great home base for exploring Mt. Desert Island. We loved it.
This little cottage is adorable and in a great location.
Although it's off a well-traveled road, it's tucked away in nature. Sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife every morning and evening was a highlight. The kitchen was easy to work in and the bathroom had great water pressure. We really enjoyed our stay.
Little house is perfect! Charming, comfortable and had all we needed. The green space is beautiful! It was wonderful to watch the deer in the morning and evening hours. Very peaceful and relaxing space. Highly recommend!
We loved our time at The Little House. The location is stunning, it is right by Acadia but also close to the shops and restaurants in Southwest Harbor. We were here for the MDI Marathon and really enjoyed the stay. The house is clean and very cute with everything you'd need.
Beautiful property in a fantastic location! We loved being able to walk to town for breakfast and easy access to all of the sections of Acadia. Elena was a wonderful host, we loved the insider tips. We will definitely be back!
Loved the Little House! Great location in Southwest Harbor, lovely garden (lupines were amazing), super clean, comfortable beds, well equipped, and tons of charm! Elena is a wonderful host as well as Pip, the dog! Highly recommend.
Elena, Terry and Pip were great hosts and the Little House is a wonderful place to stay. Easy access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. After a day spent outdoors, it was nice to come back and be able to relax. The Little house is very peaceful and well kept. We really enjoyed sitting out in the garden area and reading or talking about the day. Wonderful place, great vacation.

Very convenient location in close proximity to Acadia Nat'l
Park sites, Southwest Harbor Main Street and to all of Mount Desert Island. Lovely garden to relax and read after time spent hiking or biking. Pip, the owner's dog, is a friendly added value benefit.
This was a 5 star experience. The house was comfortable, clean and cozy. The decor was so cute. The outdoor space was so inviting. I would rent again in a heartbeat.
What a wonderful home base for our week in Acadia. The house was sparkling clean and very comfortable. Terry and Elena were very helpful and provided all the info we needed prior to arrival. The location was central to everything in Southwest Harbor, yet very private and perfectly quiet at night. Beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets for cooler evenings. We highly recommend the 'Little House' and would definitely stay again.
We had a great stay in a perfect place and fantastic location. We had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped with all the kitchen tools you could possibly need. I brought my popover pans to make popovers and had access to all the necessary kitchen gadgets. The location is close to hiking, biking, restaurants, shopping and really anywhere you want to go on MDI. So nice to come back to a quiet, peaceful place after days filled with adventure. We would definitely stay here again!
Perfect location to experience Acadia away from the crowds
This is a wonderful property for 2 adults and our 2 dogs. With Southwest Harbor only a mile away and Bar Harbor only 20 minutes away, there were plenty of dining options after a long day of hiking but the property is set back on a beautiful private road for peace and quiet. Elena made sure we had everything we needed and the house was spotless when we arrived. We had a fantastic time in this house and on Mt. Desert Island. Highly recommend.
Our family of 4, and our dog, had a wonderful week at the Little House. The house is so comfortable, very nicely decorated, with nice bed linens and comfortable beds and places to sit. The kitchen is very well organized and we appreciated being able to have some meals "at home" rather than always going to restaurants. There is a nice dining area inside as well as a lovely yard with picnic table and chairs. The gardens and open space surrounding the house are so peaceful and perfect for relaxing, or for kids and dogs to run around in. There large windows throughout the house provide great light and ventilation and it was so peaceful and quiet at night. Very close by there are some shops, including a wonderful coffee shop, liquor store, movie rental store, etc. The charming Southwest Harbor town center is just a short walk away, as are many beautiful hiking trails and swimming spots. We hope to return again very soon. It was a perfect vacation!
The Little House was everything I was hoping for, and honestly more. The house is so comfortable and homey - it really feels like a home away from home. Everything we needed was there, and Elena even left us a little welcome basket! The yard and porch are quiet and private, and although the owners live next door I never felt like we were being watched over. The recommendations and tips left for us were very helpful too.
The location is great, it's away from the crowded parts of the island but not far from any of the things you'd like to do while you're there. It was a quick drive to Bar Harbor, places to park and meet up with the carriage trails and hiking spots. We even biked from the house to Echo Lake for a swim!
We LOVED staying here and using it as a home base for hiking, biking and exploring. Even on the one rainy day it was a pleasure to spend time at the house just reading and relaxing. We would definitely recommend staying here, and are already trying to plan our next stay!
This was our first visit to Little House and we were very comfortable from the moment we arrived. A welcome basket on the kitchen table was an unexpected surprise, but truly appreciated. We loved the exposed wood beams in the cottage, the ample windows and the amazing perennial garden out back. Also loved being so close to the village of Southwest Harbor but still far enough away to be in a setting of fields, trees and gardens. The master bedroom was very comfortable as was the bathroom, provided you are able to carefully navigate getting in and out of the shower in the porcelin tub. The kitchen storage and prep spaces are quite tight but adequate, and some of the pots and pans have reached the end of their "sell by" date, but we still made several delicious meals at the cottage with all that was provided, plus some wonderful fresh produce provided by Elena straight from her veggie garden. A very special place and we hope we'll be back soon!
For our first trip to Maine, we wanted a charming cottage with a great location. I really hit the mark when I found this place. When you stay here, you really should read the article in âOâ magazine about the renovations. The cottage is so charming and we were met with a sweet welcome basket. Ample windows allow natural light into this unique place. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic table in the flower garden while eating our breakfast before heading out on our dayâs adventures. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. If we could make one addition, we would suggest a comfortable sofa for the front room.
Our favorite hiking trail was at Long Pond, just minutes away. Southwest Harbor has some great places to eat. Milagros Coffee became a favorite spot. And do go to Charlotteâs Legendary Lobster for late-night blueberry pie!
If you are looking for a charming, quiet, cottage with a great location for exploring everything this magical island has to offer, this place is for you.
Surrounded by Acadia National Park. Easy access to lakes, the town of Southwest Harbor, lots of food and shopping destinations without the hassle of bumper-to-bumper traffic in Bar Harbor.
