We enjoyed our stay at Johnâs property. The location is great, walkable to everything in town. John was a very helpful host, he even helped us to unload the car. It was great to be able to bring our dog with us-she loved hiking.
Had a lovely week at Johnâs charming house. Very convenient for enjoying Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Place has everything you need and John has lots of great recommendations for food and fun. We would gladly return for another week!
Clean, fully stocked, and convenient to everything.
John is a lovely host and has a charming home in which he kindly shares. We had a great time on our first trip to Bar Harbor and look forward to returning sometime soon.
John could not have been a better host! The apartment was spacious and comfortable for us and our 30 lb dog. The location couldnât be better, supermarket around the corner, walking distance to village green, the waterfront and many many restaurants. Off street parking was also a huge plus! I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again.
The house is perfectly located and was well equipped for our family of four and our dog. John was extremely friendly and accommodating, anticipating our needs even before we did. The house is charming and cozy (in a good way). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
John's place was spacious, bright and artful, also centrally located near town. It was nice to have two floors so we could not worry about waking our kids after they went to sleep! John was a terrific host, offering local advice and had a kind approach. We hope to return!
Our stay at John's place was very enjoyable. The location, on a quiet side street, is ideal for walking to downtown Bar Harbor center. The supermarket is right around the corner which is very convenient for preparing Covid-19 isolated meals. Overall, I'm sure you will love the place.
Great house located where all the hot spots of Bar Harbor are a short walk away. So much to do! House is cozy and comfortable. We could not have asked for a more gracious host who provided us with everything we needed as well as great recommendations for a perfect family vacation ! A very short drive to Acadia, the jewel of the North Atlantic. We will be back soon ! Thank you, John.
We had a wonderful week staying in the apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floor of John's house! We loved the outdoor porch space on the 2nd floor, and, better yet, there's a bakery right around the corner! The beds were very comfortable and the house comes with all of the amenities - wifi, TV with HBO, linens, pots and pans, appliances, and all the comforts of home. Just minutes from a grocery store, two blocks from the water, a short, 10-minute walk to the town center, and within bicycling distance of the carriage trails; it's in a perfect location!
This property is so close to the downtown and I was blown away at literally just how close it was. But what really made this such a great stay in Bar Harbor, ME was for sure John as our Host. I've honestly never met someone more welcoming, supportive, full of useful tips and tricks, informative, and overall just kind and neighborly. I feel like we left with a friend. We can't wait to return and stay again! Thank you again John for everything! Max & Sara
We rented this property last week and were so happy to have stayed here. The home was clean, cozy, well stocked and close to everything. We only used our car (maybe) 3 times.
The owners were available if needed. However we didn't need them because they had everything all laid out for us! We loved that!
We look forward to coming back soon.

We were able to spend 2 weeks this summer and loved everything about our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and the location was everything we could have hoped for. It was a short drive into Acadia but was also a quick walk to center of Bar Harbor for shopping/dining or for picking up the Island Explorer shuttle. It's also very close to the sandbar hike out to the island, which was a great place to walk to with the kids (ages 10, 6, and 3). John the homeowner was very nice and helpful. While he lives on the property, we had plenty of privacy during our stay but he was available if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend this home to others and would like to stay here again if we make it back to MDI in the future!
Johnâs Bar Harbor property is a beautiful in-town rental within walking distance to all the restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shops and everything beautiful and gorgeous about Bar Harbor; yet itâs set back on a quiet side street. The deck was lovely for evening cocktails or grilling, the master bedroom bed is super comfy, and the place is bright and welcoming with tons of natural light. John is a kind and sweet host and it was a bonus to be able to bring my dog, who loves hiking too, and this property is a quick drive to Acadia~ Plus...having in town parking is wonderful.
Thank you John! Susan
The location is very convenient for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. There is a bike rental 2 blocks away and the bike shuttle to Carriage road just as close. The twin beds on the top (third) floor were fine for our two young adult children, who could walk into town to explore. Kitchen had everything you needed to cook, and we enjoyed reading on the balcony. Shower is a little tight, but nothing we didn't already expect. The host is amazing with wonderful recommendations, and even sent us a video of parking when our flights were delayed late. Loved the bakery just around the corner (Mount Desert). You don't need a car with the summer shuttle unless you want to explore past 5 or get up early (such as Cadillac sunrise). We had a lovely time!
We spent a week in John's Bar Harbor apartment. The place was just right for a family of four. It was clean and well kept. Window air conditioning units were more than adequate for an unusually warm and humid August in Maine. The apartment is two stories. Our boys (6 and 8) enjoyed sleeping together in the upstairs bedroom. This allowed us to have some "grown-up" time in the main living area without disturbing their sleep. We walked to all Bar Harbor points of interest and restaurants. Mount desert ice cream is a must. The acadia destinations were a brief car ride away. John was readily available and responsive to all our needs, yet respected our privacy as others have commented. We would rent this accommodation without hesitation in the future. Thank you, John!
John was an excellent host! Provided plenty of recommendations during our visit. The property was great and in the perfect location to explore Bar Harbor and Acadia.
Beautiful property, central, but on a quiet street. John was a great host and answered all our questions quickly. We also really enjoyed being able to bring our dog with us. Highly recommended if you want to explore Acadia National Parkđ
The property is quaint and perfectly located on a quite street, yet walking distance from all the downtown restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the national park and highly recommend doing a lobster boat tour - we learned so much about the lobster industry. John is the perfect host - he cared about our experience and had great recommendations for local favorites! The property is well stocked and clean - we had everything we needed.
Johnâs home was a perfect place for us to stay on our 1st trip to Bar Harbor. John greeted us when we arrived and was a wealth of information about what to do and where to eat while we were there visiting. The location was convenient for walking to most of the shops, restaurants, Bar Island, etc. John gave us new ideas of things we might like to do every day. It was a perfect place to stay and John was an amazing host!
Had been coming to Maine since the early 70's . After living in different parts of the island decided to move to Town . I can walk everywhere . I can put my bike on the shuttle and take me to Jordon Pond . Then ride back home on carriage roads . Pretty awesome .
I Love older houses . My realtor called me and said you must see this house . Bought it on the spot . We are close to all . You would literally never have to drive anywhere on the Island . The shuttle 'The Island Exploerer" starts June 23 .
