We stayed 4 nights in July and had a great time. The cottage was complete and beautifully decorated. The grounds were amazing, so much color and light. This was by far the best place we ever stayed at in Ashland, hope to return soon
Our stay was amazing! This house is so comfortable, beautifully decorated and our hosts were great. We wish it wasnât so far from us or we would definitely be back visiting all the time!
Our stay at High Street Cottage was wonderfully relaxing. Elizabeth and Mark were welcoming and kind. The cottage is just lovely- the decor is warm and homey, the furniture is clean and comfortable, and its kitchen is well stocked. The grounds are beautiful with a stunning deck, koi pond, and abundant fruit trees, plants and flowers. Our stay was wonderful from beginning to end. We hope to stay here again.
This place far exceeded my expectations. The location is fabulous; the backyard and front yard are peaceful, beautiful, and inspiring. Everything you could need is provided, and the hosts are charming and welcoming. I can't wait to go back!
The cottage was perfect. Beautifully decorated, cozy and a great location. Mark and Elizabeth were wonderful hosts. I highly recommend their cottage. I will definitely be back!
We spent 3 wonderful days at the cottage and had a fantastic stay. The cottage is immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. We highly recommend this little gem.
What a beautiful place to spend 4 nights. Peaceful and tranquil setting with loads of hospitality. The hosts Mark and Elizabeth pampered me throughout my stay. and couldnât have been any more kind and gracious. Would stay there again without any hesitation. Wonderful place to stay !
A charming house, less than 15 minutes walk from the stunning Lithia Park and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Theaters. The hosts were very friendly and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. The home is filled with lovely pottery and art. We had a great time.
The cottage is tidy, well maintained, and within easy walking distance to downtown. The hosts are polite and attentive and have worked hard to think of everything a guest might need. The back yard area is clean and well-maintained, providing a lovely outdoor experience. Highly recommended!
My partner and I stayed for four wonderful nights at the High Street Cottage. It was a lovely experience, hassle-free, super-clean, and very comfortable. We so enjoyed the large back yard, the grden, and flowers, as well as the friendliness of our hosts. Lots of room, and just like being at home!
We recently spent a lovely four days at High Street Cottage. It has been carefully and artfully restored and decorated. Everything imaginable is there for the comfort of guests with many surprising and delightful extras. Elizabeth is eager to provide anything that could possibly be missing. The neighborhood is quiet and a comfortable walk to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the heart of Ashland. Our experience there was exceptional.
There were 3 in our party for our annual trip to Ashland's Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This was the first time we stayed in a house (previous trips we stayed in a hotel). We wanted more room, quiet and the ability to prepare some meals. The High Street Cottage delivered everything that we wanted. We could walk to town and the theater. The cottage was so comfortable we found ourselves spending more time relaxing there each day. Taking our time over our morning coffee and breakfast. I think we did a lot less shopping this year and we liked having some easy meals and snacks whenever we wanted. Mark and Elizabeth are fantastic hosts. We felt very much at home there. They have a lovely back yard, gardens, lots of areas to sit outside. The neighborhood is quiet and very charming. The cottage is exceptionally clean and well stocked. Definitely a winner for all of us.
The columnist Herb Caen wrote of the San Franciscan native who died and went to Heaven. Saint Peter met him at the Pearly Gates and gave him a tour of his new eternal home. When they finished, Saint Peter asked, âWell, what do you think?â âNice, but it ainât San Francisco.â
For fifteen years, we have stayed at vacation rental homes throughout the west and overseas. We have had no bad experiences. All our hosts have been friendly and helpful. All the homes have been pleasant and homey. And our judgment never varies. âNice, but it ainât the High Street Cottage.â
Each year, we arrive at the cottage to find something new. Understated and subtle, or major. Landscaping, interior upgrades, porches. Always changing yet never changing. The comfort of the familiar. We walk through the door and weâre home. Back at our cozy High Street Cottage, with Mark and Elizabeth.
My sister and I came to Ashland to attend a couple plays. This cottage is in a perfect location for a short walk to town. The hosts were fantastic and the cottage had everything we needed. We highly recommend this place, and if we are ever back in Ashland we would not hesitate to stay here again.
This is one of my favorite getaway spots in the state. My friends and I have stayed here MANY times. We love everything about it, from the adorable home, the personal touches, the proximity to downtown, the lovely yard, to the pottery studio. We look forward to a relaxing visit and leave rested.
Excellent location in quiet neighborhood less than a mile from the theaters. Comfortable beds and well-stocked kitchen in charmingly furnished cottage. The large back deck is delightful, with cushioned chairs under umbrellas, and lots of plants, including lettuces we could pick to eat. The hosts are next door and very helpful.
The High Street Cottage is absolutely wonderful. The interior is clean, and the furnishings and artwork are comfortable -- with the creative addition of vintage pieces mixed with modern convivences. The 2nd bedroom is nicely located at the back of the house, creating a nice separation from the living and main bedroom. The front yard has 2 beautiful old trees for shade, and lawn for sitting. The back yard/deck is an absolute oasis, with outdoor sofas, chaise lounges, and a bubbling water feature. Just walk High Street to the downtown and Shakespeare festivities. Highly recommend!
This was a beautiful, cozy, and exceptionally clean cottage. The perfection location for walking to Lithia Park, downtown shops, restaurants, and the Shakespearean Festival grounds. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Ashland!
Great place to stay. Very nice, well maintained. Full kitchen is very nice. Outstanding location, easy walk to downtown. Hosts are very nice and engaged.
I agree with the other reviewers. Elizabeth and Mark are wonderful hosts, and their little slice of heaven was perfect! We had everything we needed and then some. And the patio and garden were lovely. We will definitely be back.
Mark and Elizabeth Schoenleber are artists (sculpture, pottery, drawing and painting) Mark taught art at Ashland High School from 1983-2013 and Elizabeth has been creating beautiful hand thrown stoneware pottery since 1988. We enjoy traveling and meeting people from all over the world. Being hosts allow us to work at home in our art studios and meet guests from all over the world. We love finding a place in our travels that exceeds our expectation and we love being able to be that for others.
After the favorable response from guests in our Terra Cottage Inn (vrbo #65608) (2005), we decided to create a traveler's accommodation from our home of twenty years (2007). The High Street Cottage is a lovingly refurbished 1931 cottage that is tastefully decorated with just enough modern touches to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
beyond the 'park and walk to everything' location... the High Street Cottage sits on a great piece of property. The kitchen is white tile and marble counters with an O'keefe Merit gas range, hand thrown stoneware dinner, kitchen and bake ware; set up with cooks in mind. Koi pond, Gardens (flowers, herbs, salad and vegetables (in season)), decks and patios to relax and enjoy your stay, a great laundry facility and a full outdoor kitchen. At the center of the property are our art studios and too many great amenities to list.
