Bootham Row Hideaway - a couples retreat that sleeps 2 guests in 1 studio
A superbly presented studio apartment set just a stones' throw from York Minster.
The ground floor property is brand new and benefits from professional interior design throughout. There is also a fantastic 'L' shaped outdoor space with hanging chair and bistro seating for 2. Just perfect for summer evenings with a drink and a good book.
Inside the open plan layout of the bedroom and living area doesn't disappoint. All stylishly put together and topped off with a wall mounted LCD TV.
There isn't any parking with the studio but paid for parking is available very close by - please enquire for details.
The location is excellent and well equipped. Shops and restaurants nearby and close to major attractions. However, there were some problems with the visual doorbell, which was not conducive to accepting deliveries, and it was not repaired until the time of departure. Overall still highly recommend staying here.
I stayed for just a little over 3 months and it was great from the get go. A few small issues but all dealt with very quickly and efficiently even at the weekend. The emergency contact is not just a false reassurance on paper, it does work and was appreciated.
Clean, safe, perfectly functional and very comfortable (bed, replaced pillows and the armchairs). Great shower and towels. I found the bar was set too high for my liking but it was functional. Kettle could do with a replacement, itâs a bit worn. The induction is very fiddly to work and have used induction many a times before, but ok once you get the hang of it.
Deceptively spacious and very quiet considering itâs so close to everything. Loved the outside space, very private.
Local Sainsburyâs is literally around the corner, M&S is some 10-15 min walk, both really well stocked. The shambles and the Minster are some 10 min walk.
Iâve already booked another stay. Would highly recommend!
Thanks Stays for a fantastic stay!
The property was ideally located in the City centre, a short walk from the station, very near the Minster and many restaurants. It is very comfortable with all the facilities we needed.
One correction needs to be made to the entry as it says 'Dryer' when it is actually a washer dryer'.
The only complaint we had is the shower has a fault in that the seal on the door lets much water through. It needs the seal to be replaced as we had to mop the floor each day and dry the items (eg shower mat) we used.
Overall a great little studio which has all you need including an iron and ironing board which would be great to add to the directory check-in details as we spent time ironing pre-holiday thinking there wouldn't be one. Greatly equipped with hairdryer, straighteners and welcome back with some tea and milk which was very appreciated.
We stayed for 5 nights, the last day or so we found using the same towel difficult and no fresh bedding. I believe it's every 12 days to have new bedding and towels so something to keep in mind. They supply one washing tablet but may be worth bringing more so you can wash towels aswell as any clothes you may have if staying for a longer period.
Great studio, nice to have the patio and it was an enjoyable stay. Some extra clothing storage or draw would be nice in the living room area as the cupboard with the clothing rack in wasn't very big to store 2 suitcases worth of clothes. Perfect for a 2-3 night break!
Had a lovely stay at the property. Only issue was, the shower plug was blocked with hair. This caused some water going onto the bathroom floor. All OK when I cleaned the plug. I not5this mentioned in a review before,. This needs cleaning after every stay.
The welcome pack wasa very thoughtful idea. Throughly enjoyed my stay.
Very convenient, only 5 minute walk to York Minster. There is a small Sainsbury's shop at the end of the street for essentials.
Apartment was excellent with everything you could need. Instructions for entry and also appliances were all easy to follow. Welcome gift bag was a nice surprise.
Wall cupboards were quite high for me to reach but I am only 5 feet tall. Thankfully there was a footstool I could use in order to reach the shelf with the plates and cups.
Two suggestions would be for the courtyard to be brushed and debris/weeds removed and for the floor underneath the bed to be swept prior to guests staying. It wasn't bad but it would be an improvement.
Would stay here again.
Well what can i say beautiful apartment safe & secure, location is fab plenty of amenities around the area. 5 min walk( if that ) to the minster.
The staff at York stays were second to none. thank you Molly for helping me with the cooker.
Also the out of hours staff when i thought i couldn't work the TV , turns out just me not been so up to date with technology.
The staff at York Stays were truly amazing nothing was too much trouble & they dealt with any issues swiftly.
I really enjoyed my time here.
Just a couple of niggles ( clear instructions how to use the induction hob) even though i have one at home I struggled with it.
The shower is great however a rainfall shower is not good if you dont need/want to wash your hair & dont have a shower cap.
The cleanliness and quality of bed linen and towels were exemplary.
The welcome pack was a nice touch and all the contents were delicous.
Would definitely recommend & more likely return.
We have stayed in 4 Bootham Row from 20th-23rd August and genuinely have really enjoyed ourselves. The location was perfect, literally a 2 minute walk before you find yourself in the main area of York. The apartment itself has everything you might possibly need, really lovely outdoor seating area. The room was super clean and really well presented. We canât thank you enough for helping us when we needed you to and helping us to find this place under the circumstances!
The ONLY thing I would possibly comment on is the pre-set thermostat was a bit annoying because it was a really warm night and it would have been nice to turn it down to cool us down a bit, but I am reaching there!
Thanks again!
