Studio apartment perfect for couples or single professionals over the road from Tooting Commons and just a five minute walk from Tooting Bec Underground station. Only 16 minutes on the Northern line to central London,
This place is great for those on a budget and in good health. My husband and I are 56 and 60 years old respectively, and found the process of getting and returning the key quite cumbersome. It was located 4 tenths of a mile from the Tooting Bec Station, then back to Tooting Bec and another 7 tenths of a mile to the apartment. 1.5 miles of walking with luggage was no easy task-fortunately we are both in good shape and were able to make the trek, but we were VERY tired when we finally arrived at 41 Macmillan Way. We are from Louisiana and are used to hot weather, so not having AC nor a fan in the apartment did not bother us as much as it would for those not acclimated to the 85 degree F high temps we experienced. There was no hair dryer provided, either, so I bought one to tame my wild hair for my day at Wimbledon and left it there.
Beyond these shortcomings our stay was very pleasant and the walk to Tooting Bec Station was fine without toting baggage. The local food shops were great along the way and the neighborhood felt very safe. The apartment was clean and very functional for a 4+ night stay. Tom was very clear in his correspondence as what to expect and directions for getting about the area.
Tom is an amazing host, perfect instructions and help given in advance. Very quick responses and everything was ready for our arrival. Collecting keys from the shop owner was interesting but a smooth process.
Location is lovely. 10 mins walk from Northern Line links to central London and surrounding neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful.
The property itself reminded me of my University accommodation. Some of the fittings/windows are a bit worse for wear and the shower curtain rail seems rusted. Spots on the ceiling have clearly had leaks and been repainted to not a great standard.
Unfortunately lots of the glasses/kitchenware did not seem clean and needed to be washed before use. The kettle was leaving dirty limescale in any drinks so could not be used. The cleanliness is not ideal with COVID still around.
However, the bed was comfortable and bedding clean. Kitchen facilties were very handy and fridge freezer was a great bonus. It does not seem identical to the listing online.
Overall it was a great stay for a really good price for London. I was not expecting a 5* hotel but some of the basic cleaning could definitely be improved.
Great location for access to the tube, restaurants and stores.
Small accommodation but perfect for my daughter and myself. Price was definitely within our budget and all basics were provided. You canât go wrong staying here! Highly recommend this cute little flat!
It is a small cozy appartment, everything you needed was included. I loved the bedroom attacted to the living room as an ensuite and the bathroom sepperate for more privicy. The person for contact was very friendly and open for contact and questions. For us it gave a feeling that we were well prepared for what was coming and it felt safe. Beside the appartment the neighbourhood seemed good, and it is near a bus station and underground. Overall its a perfect stay for a vacation in London
Check in was very easy, Tom contacted us in time. We had to wait about 15minutes to take the key at the shop because they had to charge the device for the key first. Apartment was very clean, just the dishes and baking tray werenât.
Thanks a lot!
