We came to Dungeness to relax in this beautiful building with an incredible un-interrupted view. The space is calm and minimal with the train carriage adding nostalgia. Some of the dwellings on the beach still have the carriages as extended homes. These were used to transport the workers who were constructing the power station at the time. The architectural design is perfect living space with the sun patios to escape the wind and the lower bedroom window where you can look out over the landscape from the bed. The windows are heavy to open but this is reassuring as they are enormous and need to be substantial to protect from the weather. A joy to sit in front of the cosy wood burner on a cold, windy rainy day reading a book. Dungeness was a bleak but beautiful landscape in the rain and a cool dry still desert when the sun shone. The fish cafe and pilot pub was all we needed and prospect cottage and garden a delightful distraction. We will definitely come back.
