Luxury detached 'Kuschels Cottage' - set in countryside location with great view
Kuschels Cottage is often described as a tardis. It is much larger than it looks and purpose built from new 5 years ago with offering a quality holiday cottage in lovely surroundings in mind. The large open planned lounge dining area shares the same stunning views to the rear of the property, with the well equipped kitchen and downstairs double bedroom. There is a large wet room with shower, double basins and w/c next to the bedroom. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer is on this level. Up-stairs are two 4x4.5metre (aprox) twin bedrooms with TV points. There is a family bathroom with bath with shower over, w/c and basin. There is also a small office space with desk. Wireless broadband is included. There is a private fenced garden to the rear and private off rad parking for 2 cars.
Lovely property and very quiet. Spotlessly clean too. Would have given it top rating but just few minor things - no washing up bowl or plug in kitchen sink, all tv remote controls didnt work, dodgy upstairs shower and would have been so good to have a welcome pack there wasnt even a pint of milk to make cup of tea on arrival.
This cottage is well placed to visit the surrounding area and beyond. Peaceful surroundings as long as you don't mind the dawn chorus or mooing cows - only to be expected! Very comfortable and pretty well equipped.
Lovely cottage, in a beautiful location, local amenities only a short drive away. We had a nice, peaceful week.
The cottage could benefit from some upgrading, e.g painting, and the kitchen units replacing. The cottage was clean and tidy, and well equipped.
The cottage is very well equipped and the layout suited our family group very well - grandparents with their own facilities downstairs and parents and children sleeping upstairs. So many interesting places to visit within a reasonable distance.
Minor issues, neither of which bothered us unduly, were limited outside space (we were aware beforehand) and creaky floors.
The house was just the right size for us 4 adults and 1 child. The downstairs bedroom and wet room would be suitable for disabled users if a ramp into the property was supplied. It was clean and suitably furnished and a fantastic amount of coat hangers. The fridge and freezer were large, and the oven and hob worked perfectly. It was very quiet and relaxing.
We throughly enjoyed the cottage as a home base for our holiday visiting friends and sites in Kent. Very clean, comfortable space we all enjoyed and felt very relaxed. While clean and comfortable, having stayed at many other VRBOs, we found this one to be a bit sparse on some basics (hand soap, toilet roll, minimal towels, drinking glasses) for a family of 5. Plenty of other tableware and cutlery, washing up liquid, and mugs. Nothing intolerable or terribly inconvenient, but just a heads up for future guests staying more than a few days (we stayed 10nights). Plenty of other nice amenities to make up for what was (in our opinion) lacking. Highly recommended!
Great stay the property has everything we required. The wet room especially good after a day in the heat.
Local pubs served great food at reasonable prices
The national trust properties in the area were easy to get to as was Canterbury and the coast.
Oysters fresh from Whistable Bay were superb.
We stayed here for a week over Christmas on our trip from the USA with our two grandsons and our daughter. It was well located being an hour from Gatwick, for visiting family in Essex and Kent and for Dover Castle. Tim, the host had a Christmas tree in the cupboard for us to use and we really appreciated this.
The cottage was spotless and well maintained with everything you need in the kitchen, including a beautifully quiet dishwasher. The view out to the sheep in the fields is lovely and our grandsons enjoyed visiting them daily.
Tim was very accommodating in letting us leave some bags behind in the laundry to pick up later in the afternoon.
It was very comfortable and cosy and felt like home from home.
We would definitely stay here again!
Hard to fault. This was somewhere to stay between moving out of a house and waiting for the new one to be finished. All mod cons especially good internet l, dishwasher and dryer. Only negative was it was 300m walk along a busy lane until footpath but then the walk from there was very attractive
At the very last minute due to the government's latest covid restrictions we were unable to go and have xmas at this cottage. The owner understood our dilemma and has agreed to defer our visit until it is safe to travel
Great stay, we travelled around Kent and found this a fantastic place to come back to. Lovely quiet retreat, great downstairs shower room, good speed WiFi for the kids and washer/dryer facilities. Much bigger inside than it appears from outside highly recommend.

A fantastic stay in the perfect setting
Situated in the picturesque village of Bethersden, Kuschels Cottage suited our needs perfectly. Our children enjoyed looking out and seeing the sheep in the fields, and us grownups were in awe of the bucolic scenery â brilliantly green trees and undulating fields as far as the eye can see. We had easy access to Ashford and Tenterden on the A28, for shopping and visiting with family, and loved walking into the village on the public footpath. (N.B. The local butcherâs sausage rolls are life changing!) We would absolutely stay here again...

This summer I had an opportunity to take the kids on a vacation of a life time. My wife has a slight fear of flying but the kids do not. We used this cottage as our home base while we toured Kent. It was fantastic! The pheasant in the back field was a fine morning companion while we (I) drank morning tea. We visited several castles, cathedrals and other tourist stuff. I chose the area knowing I had family from generations ago interred within the churchyard. We had an opportunity to visit Smarden and find two of their gravesite. This cottage was plenty big enough for the three of us and outfitted with everything we could ask for, including several pamphlets, flyers and menus for almost everything in the SouthEast of the UK.
I am hoping I can convince my wife to join us next time. There will be a next time.
Thank you for the use of your cottage in was fantastic.
Greg and kids.
