The housecwas as described and as shown in photos. Nice location on the beach, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. All the amenities we needed, including beach chairs.
The house is mexico all the way complete with cracks and holes for cockroaches and geckios to run throuvh. Open lightbulbs make you feel like a local in the ac less enviroment.
If your traveling to spend time at the beach this
is the place. The surf is LOUD but you should expect that being that it crashes 10' from your pillow. City foks should be accustomed to though. We lived the crappy out door furniture in yhe shade and the PERFECT PRIVATE BEACH. Only a few locals would wonder by buy for the most part its yours. In a safe neighborhood with friendly locals. We will deffently be back again.
Im even thinking of contacting the owner to buy it.
This is a large, well-designed house only 12 meters from the crashing surf. Very bright in the day time, but could use more lighting at night. The wifi was excellent and both bathrooms have been upgraded with nice, new fixtures, but most of the house is showing it's age --- it could use some plaster patching, painting and some new furniture. It would also be nice to have places to hang clothes, towels, etc., and some drapes or blinds on the south aspect windows would help keep out the heat. There is a sandy beach right next door, and although the waves are a bit dangerous, it doesn't stop some of the locals from swimming and boarding. Restaurants and small grocery stores are all within a few blocks walking distance.
In 2018 we stayed at this house for several weeks. At that time we had access to the entire yard and enjoyed the privacy of the walled yard. We were interested in renting it again but oh my were we SHOCKED at the poor state of things this year. The grounds were deplorable with dry, crisp grass, flowering shrubs which had been hacked back to the ground, animal feces laying about, & many mysterious holes in the soil, where previously we had enjoyed lush flowering shrubs, beautifully trimmed palm trees and soft green grass. The house itself was crumbling and decrepit, 4 clean double beds, 2 clean bathrooms with old towels, one automatic washer providing only cold water, a meager supply of dishes and cutlery, few rolls of toilet paper and 6 bar soap and 1dish soap. The wall of windows facing the sea was so dirty it was hard to look out of and only 1 window & 1 (poorly sliding) door opened to allow sea breezes in. The kitchen was FILTHY and it took several days of toil to get it safe. Sink drain didn't empty well, plumber unsuccesful. Frig has broken and missing shelves. The gas stove stands on a pedestal making cooking a safety challenge. 2 balconies which were easily accessed and useful. Dining table and chairs were plastic. Pots and pans were very large and not suitable for 2 people's cooking. We asked for many things for kitchen, they were provided. Language barriers created frustration. Hostess was very ill and in hosp, asked mother who did not speak English nor able
This is our third time staying here and although there were issues in the past, I asked the owner that upgrades could be made to overcome these in the hope that the place could be safe and clean this time. These were not done. Here is what happened:
CLEANLINESS
1. The unit was NOT clean. Children's fingerprints all over the windows. Dirt in all of the corners. Dirty sheets. (We bought new sheets and towels for our use while there)
2. Stains all over the mattresses.
3.. Large chunks of ceiling falling off including over one bed.
SERVICES:
Since a caretaker lives in the unit below, we assumed that the unit would be cleaned, trash removed etc. during our stay which was for more than 4 weeks and for which we paid under the "services" fee. I asked the owner if this were the case and he never responded. For this reason we left the unit as you would a hotel room, expecting the caretaker to clean it after we left.
ASSISTANCE::
When we arrived the caretaker showed us the 5 gallon plastic water jug to be brought upstairs for clean water. We are elderly people and cannot carry that upstairs. My husband even has Deep Vein Thrombosis. The caretaker was NOT happy that she had to carry it upstairs.
SUPPORT
The town was fixing the wifi when we were there and we lost a week waiting for them to rewire it. (We were working online). The next week we asked the caretaker several times and she told us that the internet company was still repairing the lines. We found out that this was not true and that she actually had taken the "good" modem into her unit and.even though the internet company told us that this modem belonged in our unit she refused to give it to us and told us to call the owner. The owner's phone number is in Spain so we emailed and owner told us that caretaker would schedule an appointment to fix the modem (while she kept the good one and we waited another day). So we actually lost a second week while we could have had the "good" modem which she kept.
The unit could be magnificent as it is actually sitting on the beach. But the services are sorely lacking, it is NOT clean, it is in need of repair, the caretaker is NOT helpful or positive in any way.
I use VRBO all the time and have never had a negative experience. After this experience I received a letter telling me that the owner would not rent to us in the future. I assume he was trying to set the stage for this review which he knew could not be positive.
Lovely property but needs work. huge cracks in the walls. hot water in only one shower. flimsy sheets. substandard pots and pans
very unreliable internet. could be beautiful
