We brought our 87-year old mother to Europe, so we needed a place where someone with mobility issues could walk to the beach. Plus, we had family and a couple of friends who were traveling with us. This home in Maoiri was perfect!! You can walk down the central pedestrian street in town, on flat ground, a few blocks from the beach. Restaurants and shops line the pedestrian street, which is open to cars for a few hours in the morning and afternoon so you can get close with a car for packing. I paid for an extra parking space for my rented van, which was a locked garage a couple of blocks away, which allowed for an easy drive to Pompeii, Paestum, and other destinations.
This home was originally designed to serve as several apartments, so there are two different kitchen areas, three different washing machines, and every room has its own air conditioning. Very comfortable. The owners are builders by trade, and it shows because the home is very well maintained. Their son owns a restaurant across the street, and you get the feeling that everyone knows everyone in the area, which is nice.
We hired a small boat and captain from Samboat.com to pick us up at the harbor in Maoiri and take us to the Blue Grotto and harbor in Capri. There is also a public ferry that leaves from the harbor in Maoiri to go to Capri and the other towns along the Amalfi coast. We also brought along an inflatable kayak, and paddled 1 mile southeast to Pandora Cave and a cove. Awesome!!
