Great location within walking distance of lots of Lisbonâs attractions . Struggled with the elevator which didnât work well at all. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
It was a wonderful flat in the best of neighborhoods! The property manager could have been a bit more attentive to our check-in needs re: the lift and hall lights.
Check in was super easy and they were readily available if I had questions or concern. The apartment was as shown in picturesâŠ. Spacious and bright. It could get a little noisy in the back at night but the shutters helped. Overall great stay.
This apartment was so gorgeous, drenched in natural light and was so roomy. The pictures donât do it justice! ample space for me and my 3 friends, perfect for a group of 4. Could definitely fit another person in the office space. It was a little loud at night being near the bars but with the windows closed it was no bother. If it is really hot and you want the windows open it could be a little annoying but that's just the nature of the neighborhood. Its an amazing central location near to amazing restaurants and sightseeing. The owners were incredible and very quick to respond to any questions we had. Our check in partner Renaldo was very sweet and offered several recommendations for Lisbon. Do not count on the elevator, it is strictly for baggage - which was more than fine with us. Lisbon is full of hills so get used to climbing! Check out was so simple, everything was handled for us, we just left the keys and took out the trash. Thank you for our beautiful stay!
Misericordia Is a lovely neighborhood in the midst of many shops, boutiques, bakeries, and restaurants but still gives one the feeling of being in a private, cozy neighborhood. Yes, you have to walk up three flights of stairs but when you arrive at Tracy and Neill's flat you enter an Oasis and it prepares one for walking up the many hills which define the dramatic topography of Lisbon. There is a lift to transport your luggage up and down. French doors line the wall in the living room mimicked by large windows in the bedrooms and kitchen with old-world solid plank shutters for privacy. The effect feels like you are aloft above the city with light everywhere. The kitchen is very well equipped with a modern flair. The bathrooms are equal to any five-star hotel. The high-ceilinged flat is spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with a bohemian flair. Any questions we had were punctually answered by the very accommodating representatives of the property management. No question we would stay here again and recommend it to any of our friends traveling to Lisbon.Thankyou Tracy and Neill for a memorable experience.Marianne&Michael
First the pros:
The location is fantastic. Lively, vibrant, energetic. The proximity alone to Miradouro de SĂŁo Pedro de AlcĂąntara, GlĂłria - S. Pedro AlcĂąntara, and the lively restaurants and bars of Bairro Alto make this spot perfect travelers looking to experience some of the best Lisbon has to offer.
The flat itself is very spacious, and modern. Quite comfortable.
Cons:
No air conditioning. This was not an issue for us because we visited in late March/Early April. However, even with outside temperatures around 70f/21c we still felt the need to open windows and doors every time we entered the condo.
The only issue with keeping any doors or windows open at night is that Bairro Alto is full of bars that are open late. Late meaning you can hear people in the streets till sometimes 4/5am⊠every night. If you are a light sleeper, and planning a trip when the weather is such that a window would need to be open, this is not the condo for you.
Also it seems the building is in need of some plumbing work. Occasionally we would have to flush the toilets in order for the showers to drain properly, and thereâs definitely a peculiar odor around the front bathroom. Again this seems like a building issue and not a unit issue.
Ultimately we loved the unit and would rent again/recommend to friends.
First the good. The location is great; right in the heart of the city and near many great restaurants and bars. Now the bad. The owner and/or management company have chosen to skimp on furnishings and basic amenities. The pillows were the worst Iâve ever slept on. Impossible to get a good night sleep when sleeping on the rocks they call pillows. And they provided a single small âbathâ towel for each guest that was so threadbare it belonged in a junior high school locker room. No soap, no shampoo, and no dish detergent. And the ceiling fans in both bedrooms did not work. Instead they provided noisy electrical fans. There also are no screens on any of the windows, which you have to keep open at all times because the flat lacks air conditioning. So flies were a huge problem. And because there are several nightclubs on the street right behind the apartment, you canât sleep with the windows open in the bedrooms because of the noise from the clubs. This was not a huge problem in May because the weather was not too hot, but I would avoid this place at all costs in the warmer months. All in all a very disappointing experience, especially in comparison to the many other great places we have stayed.
First, I want to thank Tracey and Neill for letting us use their apartment. There are core things that really matter, and this space has all of those. The two bedrooms were well appointed with ample space and the beds were quite good. Not that this is a surprise, but the master bedroom is much better than the second bedroom. As we were two couples traveling together, I just wanted to note this obvious distinction. The bathrooms were functional with no major issues. The kitchen was adequately supplied with equipment. For Americans â the stove top has induction heating and we found ourselves looking through the web on how to operate it.
I cannot say enough about how great this location is in terms of Lisbon geography and topology. We received many unsolicited comments from guides and taxi drivers about how fortunate we were to be in such a spot.
Now to the nits â as others have said, the elevator works, but you should just count on climbing up three flights of stairs. As with all small elevators retrofitted into an old building, it has its limits. Use it for luggage and you will be fine.
As stated before, this is a great location and everyone knows it. Expect loud crowds at night that will be up until 4am on the weekends. Just be prepared.
Donât expect much from the company that manages this property. We were there for 10 days and they left us about 3 dayâs worth of toilet paper. Upon bringing this to their attention, we received the following email - âOur apartments are self-catering, we do supply a starter kit per bathroom and not per person. Although we leave some shampoo, hard soap, body wash, toilet paper and a few capsules for the washing and coffee machines, this is as a courtesy and during the stay if the guests need more they need to purchase these items themselves.â Then a day later they sent us an email asking if we needed anythingâŠ
Later in the stay, the management company sent us an email saying someone would be stopping by to drop off an extra set of keys, could we be available at a particular time? We waited for them to show up, and they never did.
Bonus tip â the neighbors upstairs offered to help us with any problems we might have. I suggest you contact them, not the management company if you need help.
Lovely, light filled and spacious apartment in a location central to enjoying Lisbonâs sights. Comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms. Easy check-in and check-out and good communications from Portugal Portfolioâs throughout. Only downside is the noise from the streets front and back until the wee hours of the morning - the price you pay for being in the middle of the action!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the only caveat being the very unstable elevator which conked out one day, preventing us from returning home until the evening after it had been fixed. There was also a problem with the hot water that was fixed partially as one of the bathrooms had no water pressure and took forever for the warm water to come in.
