Harken back to the true spirit of the Adirondacks hy roughing it with no ac or microwave but modern communication- wifi and television. Steep walk down the hill across the road to a wonderful, private dock on the pristine, clear water of the Sacandaga lake.
This was the perfect place for our long weekend getaway to the lake. The house was clean and well maintained. The owners were amazing; easy to communicate with and also shared events we could attend locally during our stay. The walk down the hill to the dock takes some effort, but once you cross the street and get down to the water it was beautiful. Dock was perfect for our 2 waverunners and the the firepits (plural!) were the best place to relax after a long day on the lake. Would definitely stay again~!
The property was comfortable for the family and the dock was upgraded and made it easy having the boat there for the stay. Lots of things to do from a fire pit and games for family.
Relax in S. Adirondaks on best deck on Lake Sacandaga
Rustic but charming camp on ridge above the big lake. All as described: bring your basics and prepare to relax, swim, fish, cook and firepit it. Giant deck is spectacular. Had a great few days with all of the above. Close to Cooperstown and HOF as well.
The place was great, just what my friends and I were looking. Being on the water is great and Ashley and Josh were great hosts and super responsive. Would recommend to others and would stay here again.
Beautiful large deck with table and lake view, indoors had a nice rustic cozy feel. Great commonal firepit. Enjoyed the nice dock for swimming and provided kayaks. Only challenge was the short steep pitch of gravel driveway to park, advise visitors to get a "running start".
There was plenty of space to hang out inside and out on the deck, and it was great to be able to walk down to the lake to swim and lounge. The house was well equipped and the beds were comfy. Ashley was very responsive and a great host.
Came up with friends for our yearly weekend getaway, the place was really nice. The view of the lake was beautiful, fishing from the dock was fun, great firepit, lots of wood avail. The neighbor was great, super friendly, he gave us the low down on the area. All my questions prior to the stay were answered very quickly. Definitely a great find.
A group of friends seeing a band we all love at SPAC! This house was exactly what we needed. We gathered! We eat! We hung out on the deck! We sat by the fire and getting to and from SPAC was super easy! The house was more spacious than we thought. We hung out on the deck most of the time because weather was never an issue but if we needed to be inside, there was more than enough room to hang out! If we stayed an extra day we would have taken advantage of the lake for sure! Many of us took the walk down to check it out and realized we were out of shape on the way back up, but it was worth it. The house has life jackets and a fishing pole if you need them. The only issue, and it has nothing to do with the house, is the drive way is really steep from the road and then levels out in front of the house. It easily fits 4 cars, but if your mini van is anything like mine, you need to gun it from the road to make it up to the flat part. I realized this after not making it up the first time.
The house is simple but had everything we needed! I hope others enjoy it as much as we did! Thank you Ashley!
We enjoyed our stay at the house the lake is beautiful. we didn't expect such a long steep incline from the dock area to the road. The driveway also posed some issues with deep gravel ruts which made for a rough ride up and down. The bathroom could use some work chips from the bath tub pealing kept clogging the drain. We knew there was no Air conditioning but it would make a huge difference in the comfort of the stay. Ahsley was very prompt with any question we had.
Property is a basic North Country vacation camp structure.
Pluses include a very nice gas BBQ, large flat bonfire area with chairs and a stone firepit, and a huge, lighted lakeside deck. There are three bedrooms (one really tiny), plus overflow sleeping on a double futon in the living room.
Downsides: Very steep terrain, from the main road up to the parking area, and again from there up to the house. It's similarly quite steep from the road down to the lakefront. Mobility-challenged folks should look elsewhere. It might not be possible to carry a boat of any size down to the property's own lakefront (we drove to a public boat launch to put in our long two-person rowing dory).
Our casual fishing efforts yielded a good-sized smallmouth.
Some of the local eateries are closed, or are having difficulties, because of a lack of help (early August 2021) . We were able to find a good meal by calling around.
There was a cleanliness issue with some louvered windows. We found accumulations of bugs and webs between glass and screens.
Owner was very pleasant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This property offers the perfect blend of nostalgic, Adirondack charm and creature comforts. The listing was an accurate description so the property was just what we expected. There was plenty of room for 5 of us to hang out indoors and outside. We enjoyed the view from the deck, the dock, 2 great fire pits, and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy nature. There are some great local restaurants and shops in nearby towns and plenty of hiking spots nearby. Ashley, the owner, was very helpful and quick to respond to questions before and during our stay. We would definitely book here again.
The main door didnât lock. Missing screens on windows, no light over dining table cabinets were cluttered and doors were sticky windows missing hand crank had to plunge the toilet several times main bed was too hard living room furniture was dirty. The views were nice the hill to the lake is difficult put owner did state that bird/goose poop made it difficult to sit and fish on dock. A good cleaning is called for
Amazing view of the lake. Comes as advertised. The inside is not with the most up to date features but the outdoor area is really nice. Nice dock, deck and fire pit areas (multiple). Communications with property manager very easy.
We thought that the property was a great value and it was even larger than it looked in the pictures. Ashley was extremely quick to respond with any questions along the way. The lake view is gorgeous and we had a great time.
This cottage was very homey. The decor was just enough. They had the basic essentials to make the stay comfortable. The firepits were cool we only used the top one. The walk to the dock was steep but thats how most are. Didnt stop us from hanging out on the dock and getting beautiful pictures. We would deff stay again if available!!
Perfect vacation for us!
Two fire pits in two locations!
All outdoor needs provided.
Plenty of space in the cabin for poor weather days too!
Definitely hit the vacation bug spot.
