Worked fine for our family. Nice to have golf cart. It did backfire at times. Nice deck to sit out on. BBQ did not work. TV in 3rd bedroom did not work.
The house was fine, but when we checked into the property management office, the house was not ready. And when you are waiting all day to get in the house it is frustrating. And was confused which house we were renting. (Upper or lower house) And then gave us the wrong keys. The housekeeper walked right into our house while we were staying there and walked right into the bathroom without knocking. The front desks said she had the wrong day. They are not very organized. And had an excuse for everything.
We had a great time in Catalina and the unit was walking distance to all the Avalon sights and places. In being so central, we had a lot of noise from golf carts on the adjacent street (which happens to be a truck route) late into the night and starting very early in the morning. Not sure there's much you can do about that, but for folks in the bedroom facing the street, it definitely felt like a tradeoff for the great central location.
We had 8 adults, as was advertised the place could accommodate. We anticipated two having to sleep in the pull-out couch. We did not anticipate one of the two bathrooms being through a bedroom, which essentially left 6 adults for one bathroom, and 2 adults for the other. We made do, but this place doesn't feel like it honestly can be advertised to accommodate 8 adults.
In addition, there is only one couch, which seats 3, and a dining table which seats 4. Challenging to do the things that most groups rent a house/unit to do (as opposed to going to a hotel) - dining in together, having lounge space to hang out, etc.
Finally, the unit could use a deep clean and a refreshed stocking of the kitchen. The unit was advertised as having a fully stocked kitchen but all the knives were dull, there was one tiny cutting board, and the cookware was all pretty small - no big batches of cooking for 8 adults could be accommodated. Some of the slats on the blinds were broken and the screen to the deck (hands down the best part of the unit!) was broken.
Extremely hot upon arrival, no ac, which should be noted how hot the place gets in the summer. It never did cool off. There are box fans that are covered in dirt/dust. Overall a very disappointing experience as TWO NIGHTS stay was the price of a house mortgage in California. The house in general was not clean or maintained
Floor is filthy, not recently cleaned.
Listing says it accommodates 8 people. Does not seat 8 people. Dining table seats 4, outdoor table seats 6.
Outdoor glass top to table is smaller than the table
Not enough silverware for 8 people, plates are chipped
Freezer has not been defrosted in a long time, big block of ice in the freezer
No information on bedding for pull out couch, bedding located in bedroom armoire, wadded up hopefully they were clean. Not sheets, a blanket and some form of fitted mattress pad or something, no pillows
Patio was filthy, morning dew would streak liquid dirt as was the grill, not properly maintained, very dirty, grease trap not cleaned and caused a grease fire and smells of propane while using, unsafe
Faucet in kitchen sink doesnât work probably,Shower head installed wrong, can not stand under it. Toilet running constantly, lifted the lid and found the arm held together by tape. Bedroom tv and ceiling fan remote didnât work, Blinds broken, mismatched, window screens had holes in them. Could list more, not enough room in review.
The cleanliness is non existent. Screens broken, mice or rats in house. Towels with stains and the sheets as well. The golf cart back fires and overheats to where we needed to stop and let it cool off. In looking back at some of the reviews now this has been an ongoing problem for the last year or more and nothingâs been done.
Couple of small fixes needed. Coffee maker didnât work and none of the outlets in the kitchen seemed to work. Other than that another wonderful stay in Catalina!
We loved the location. It was great for our family of four. We had the upstairs of a two floor duplex. We chose this rental because it offered a gas golf cart. Having this greatly added to the enjoyment of our stay. We explored all over Avalon! The place was clean. For our several day stay, we needed to buy shampoo (a small sample was provided), conditioner and laundry detergent at Vonnâs. It would be nice to have slightly different seating. Usually one of us sat at the table, two in the sofa and one in the chair. We would still stay there again in spite of that. Golf carts zip up and down the street and can be noisy though this didnât bother us. Great rental. Looking forward to staying there again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The place was located a littler over a block from the main area of town. Great location and really nice it came with a golf cart. It was comfortable and clean. Thanks for having us!
The property is nice and has a great location. The check-in process was messy. Everything I was told had the check-in time no later than 3pm. I called numerous times about an early check-in, but the cleaning crew wasn't notified to clean our unit until much later in the day, which resulted in our property not being ready until 4:45. It was a nice stay other than the check-in.
We come to the island every summer after racing in the Catalina Water Ski Race. Normally, we stay in a hotel right on the water, but this year we decided to split a house with friends. The house was extremely close to the beach, shopping, and grocery store. The golf cart was a HUGE plus in getting groceries to and from as well as hauling luggage for friends staying elsewhere. The beds were extremely comfortable and the patio was such a fun place to sit, eat, and play games.
One thing about the house that we didn't really expect was that there was no A/C. Although there were fans, and we kept the windows open during the day and all night. We had no trouble sleeping whatsoever. And just a heads up, we were unable to find hot pads or a baking sheet. Nothing worth griping about though!
We had a wonderful time and splitting the cost among us all for the three nights was cheaper than one night at our usual hotel!

211 Clarissa, Avalon
Three real bedrooms and two bathrooms, spacious inside space, a fully stocked kitchen and a large deck make this a fun place to spend a weekend.
The provided golf cart made exploring Avalon easy, we rode all over town.
211 Clarissa is two blocks from the waterfront, one small negative is the amount of traffic on the street.
Spacious upper unit was clean, well appointed, convenient location. The full time availability of the golf cart seems like a must in Avalon and makes an impromptu run to the Casino to watch a movie a snap. Deck with table, chairs & umbrella is more inviting and pleasant than the photos might indicate. Very good overall.
We were overall pretty comfortable and while the decor could use some love, our needs were met. Mattress was wonderful! However, having a meal requires invention. We had to serve things in pots since there was one glass mixing bowl for our salad. We had to purchase most impliments, like potato pealer, wine opener, etc. P.S. The picture here is NOT where we stayed. I also suggest getting rid of the knick-nacks hidden in the closets. Especially the Jim Beam antique telephone bottle. The golf cart was not there, and when it came, they forgot to give us a key. So some coordination was goofy, but we worked around it.
We had an amazing weekend celebrating my dad's 80th and Mother's Day. We rented both units and really enjoyed being able to have the 4 families all together. The kids loved the bunk room! As far as I could tell, this property has the best patio on the island. So big! We were able to BBQ and enjoy the beautiful weather. We will definitely be back!
Oh! And the use of the Golf carts was an added bonus!!! We had a great time exploring the island.
