Welcome to Hale He’e, a perfect little slice of Hawaiian beauty.

Enjoy the best of what Hawaii has to offer in our completely updated condo at Kona Makai - an oceanfront complex complete with tennis courts, pool, spa and exercise room.

This rarely available 798 sqft, 2 story unit is a well decorated 1 primary bedroom with an upstairs loft, 1 bath condo with a view. Soaring high ceilings throughout the living area and elegant furnishings and decor are just a few of highlights.

He’e, which is Hawaiian for Octopus and also a major decor for the condo, can be found throughout in the artwork.
The fully stocked kitchen with an eating bar area allows you to easily prep your meals before exploring the Island or sunbathing by the oceanfront pool.
The comfortable layout accommodates 4 guests. The main bedroom has a king size bed and it’s own lanai. Upstairs loft area is furnished with two twin size beds.

Unit is located on the top floor so you can enjoy the ocean views from the living room lanai. Sip your morning coffee or spend your evenings appreciating the ocean views.
For the hot summer nights, turn on the window AC units located in the bedroom, loft and living room area.

We offer everything you need to enjoy your vacation: Air Conditioning units; wifi, cable, washer and dryer are in the unit as well as cooler, beach chairs and beach towels. All the comforts of your home, except for one thing…. You’re in Hawai’i.

Kona Makai is a wonderful oceanfront complex with a heated oceanside pool, spa, tennis courts, exercise room, large lawn, BBQ area and pavilion for gatherings all on beautiful & lush tropical garden grounds! Perfect for an unforgettable Kona Vacation.

The place was generally clean, but I think the cleanliness could have been improved a bit. Seems like deep cleaning is overlooked somewhat. The property where this unit was located was absolutely beautiful. We very much enjoyed the pool and barbecue area. All of the beds were comfortable, and though the unit is small, there was ample room for storage. The only negative comment that I would have is that you had to have all your towels washed and dried before departure. I have not had to do that in any of the other VRBO properties I have rented, which I have rented many. It makes it difficult to do when you need to have a shower and catch an early flight. It just seemed a bit excessive to me. Otherwise, everything was really great.

We loved all of the Kona themed decor! The condo was clean and well stocked. There weren't any boogie board like advertised, but we found a cheap one at the ABC store that my son loves. We would definitely stay again.

Great stay, nice complex, convenient location.

Family of three with a teenager. We really enjoyed this place, nice view from the lanai, well furnished and equipped. Be prepared to walk up three flights of stairs. Pool and clubhouse with grills, great ocean side spot with chairs to watch sunset or have morning coffee and watch for whales. Our neighbors two nights were unfortunately loud, but they were not residents, just our bad luck. Great location convenient to everything along Alii Drive.

This is an incredibly quiet community. I was playing music on my phone and received a phone call, email, knock on the door and a notice on the door. Then when drying laundry at 10pm a neighbor angrily knocked on the door. I felt so uncomfortable with the snobbiness and unwelcoming environment I left 2 days early.

Girls Trip

This unit is as described and that the pictures show with many accessories that you need for the beach. Having hooks everywhere was so great and helped to keep everything in place and organized during our stay. The loft was perfect for providing separation, but should note that the spiral staircase is pretty narrow and the stairs are a bit tricky to navigate for adults, and I would imagine if there were any mobility issues it would not be a good fit. Some of the beach items are in need of replacement-umbrella and chairs. There are also a lot of rules-some are of the HOA and there really is not the issue of the unit itself, but all the signs reminding of the rules everywhere around the unit made it feel a bit unwelcoming. It would also be nice if some starter items for the kitchen were there-only salt and pepper. A little package (one pot) Kona coffee and maybe sugar would have been a nice start as we arrived late and did not have energy to go to the store after a very long day of travel and maybe some other staples like olive oil and some other spices. The bathroom door did not lock or even latch so that needs some maintenance as well. In all, we enjoyed our stay and the location, set up and price were great.

Fantastic Condo & Great Location

This condo worked perfectly for my family of four with two boys ages 14 & 18. The condo is furnished as described and seen in the photos. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was nicely stocked with cookware/dishware. Boys used the little nook in the loft to read and play card games. Stairs to the loft are steep and narrow, not good for little kids or older adults; just fine four our the boys. Wonderful having fast wifi, washing machine/dryer, dishwasher and air conditioning. Used the coolers (in bedroom closet) and beach gear (hall closet) several times. Location was within walking distance to coffee shop and poke shack; even walked into town. Although only ~5 min drive into town or to White Sands. Also walking distance to several different Public Access points to the beach, including one at there at the condo complex. Pool was perfect and views from the lanai were amazing. While not on the water, there is a small view of the water with perfect view of the sunsets and the tree/park-like setting in the courtyard was so peaceful. The grounds at the condo complex were very well maintained. At first we thought the HOA had a lot of strict rules for the pool and on the lanais, but seeing how peaceful it is there, I see why and was glad the rules were in place. Parking was never a problem. Had a couple questions during the stay, but Lorena was quick to respond. Overall a lovely experience and would absolutely recommend.

Great location and sunsets

We had a great time during our visit. The property grounds are beautiful. The condo very clean and had all the beach and swimming gear needed. We will definitely be staying here when we return. Great location. Good amenities. Ocean “toys” are in need of replacement. Many positives, would return, but not before the place has had a deep clean. Too many “decor” pillows and bad smells. Sad to say, the showers curtain could stand on its own. Otherwise, cutely decorated and great location with wonderful amenities and balcony. Parking was an amazing plus! Thanks!
