The booking process was quite alright, property was good. My biggest hangup was the fact that there was a 250 dollar hold set on my card that i was not informed of when i booked, only when i was going to check in. I was also told that i would get the hold back once i check out. Well, i go to check out and i ask again where i am then told it would be 5-7 business days. The fact that this information was not relayed to me was extremely displeasing.
The property was in a great location and the grounds were beautiful. Be forewarned that this is a timeshare property so you will be pitched to attend the usual timeshare meeting. And you will get calls and texts bugging you to do so if you decline. The unit and furnishings were great for our needs. Our toaster shorted out and caught on fire (!) but we were able to put it out. We got a replacement but the place smelled of burned toast and electrical fire for the 3 days we were there despite airing it out because there was no vent fan in the kitchen. Pros: on demand hot water, large soaking tub, washer and dryer in unit, adequate furnishings, beautiful property and great location. Hide-a-bed was handy for our adult daughter, although the bed itself was bad, ie: typical pull out. Cons: hounding about timeshare, slow to respond to housekeeping requests. (They did respond re: toaster fire after text and call, even brought a small gift, but never responded to our request for another blanket.) Strange bathroom layout.
Exterior property was in great shape. Could have used a small blower to get the pine needles away from the pool and hot tub. We ended up having to change our room at the last minute due to some unknowns with the owner. Seems like the resort should have been able to let the VRBO property managers know earlier. Unit we got was smaller than original request. It served us ok, but the last minute thing is a little frustrating. The room cleanliness was not up to what I have experienced with VRBO in the past. The furniture and carpet was dingy. There were stains on couch and the carpet. Could use a good shampooing. Coffee pot was missing the basket and I had to get it from the front desk in order to make coffee. The curtains in the bedroom would not stay shut and there were no blinds. We had to use a binder clip to hold the curtains closed for privacy. This is a timeshare style property so we had to sit through the spiel for buying vacation time. Told it would be 90 minutes - it was 2.5 Hrs. They didn't want to take no for an answer. Three sales people later they took the no. Enjoyed the Williamsburg area, so the location served as intended. A lot of frustration along the way.
