Located next door to The Governor Generals home is this Iconic 200 year old building loaded with History. Considered to be 1 of the 5 most Iconic properties in downtown Halifax. Lucy Maude Montgomery - The Writer of Anne of Green Gables lived here while going to University. The top 2 floors loaded with fabulous trim and woodwork, built in glass cabinets, wonderful exposure with tons of natural light throughout. Hardwood floors throughout with fireplaces in several of the rooms. Fabulous kitchen granite countertop, stainless appliances an island for gathering around. Approximately 2300 square feet on 2 levels. 2 minute walk to the Halifax waterfront, and ferry to cross the water and explore downtown Dartmouth. Luxuriously decorated with 4 poster canopy beds.
We loved our stay in Halifax, the place was gorgeous, the location was close to everything and the history of the building was a nice surprise. Thanks for everything!
we stayed here for four nights with our family event in Halifax. we had a great time. the location is amazing with so much within walking distance but the house is quiet and shielded from outside noise. the history of the home is appealing but it has all the amenities we needed. it is on the second and third floor so you need to be able to do stairs. some of the things important to us: the bedrooms which had air conditioning (3/4) were very comfortable in the summer heat. There were fans to move the air. All the beds were comfortable. The water pressure is good. The kitchen is new and clean with a dish washer. Fabulous location. Easy check in process. Simple check out: Not a huge list of complicated check out tasks like we have had at other rentals. Helpful but non-invasive host.
This beautifully appointed home was exactly what is depicted in the photos and located just 3 blocks from Halifax Harbour. Even though it was located closely to many historical sites, it is located in a quite area neighbour filled with many locally own shops and wonderful restaurants. The home felt welcoming from the moment you walked through the doors. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and beds were very comfortable. The extra amenities that were available for our used were equal to some very high end boutique hotels that we have stayed in. After our daily tours of this beautiful city, we looked forward to relaxing in the large living room and felt like we were returning to our home away from home. Thank you Holly for allowing us to stay in this incredible home.
The property was beautiful, clean and in the perfrct location for being able to walk anywhere in downtown. Close to a park for kids and lots of choice of restaurants too. So much history in the building was an extra bonus!
Beautiful place. Lots of space. Very clean with lots of toiletries handy if needed. Centrally located, which made things a lot easier.St. parking was great and free.Lots of contact with the owner, who let us know if we needed anything at all just to let them know.Would recommend this place to anyone.
This home is centrally located, easy walk 5 mintue walk to waterfront and to Spring Garden Road and close to the Public Gardens.
Easy check-in,
Holly the manager was readily available, responded quickly.
Would definitely stay here in future visits to Halifax.
Lovely accommodation - close to Dalhousie, Spring Garden for shopping, Bishopâs Landing for waterfront stroll. The apartment was quiet and very comfortable. The games and tv options were perfect for relaxing with teens. I would highly recommend.
This was one of the most ideal locations & atmosphere for 6 old friends looking for a calm, relaxed & down-town Halifax experience!! It offered an elegant home-base that allowed us to walk to sites and points of interests as well as giving us the tools to create our own meals and the space where all could sit down together!! It was wonderful!
Thank you Holly for being a fantastic host!!
Potential but bitter aftertaste and should have booked Muir even for double the price.
Old property but as such they need to pay special attention to cleanliness. I ended up with bites on my head and we saw a mouse twice in the kitchen. Stayed at 3 Fairmonts prior to the stay at this charming and historic property which i thought would be a nice finisher and more intimate. Lovely property and ideal location but needs some attention and monies into it. Host was rude when these issues were brought up. We never asked for monies back and dont intend to. Live and learn. Thats the experience and maybe they will rectify for future guests. Give the property some love please and be more courteous at minimum in communications with your guests please.
We stayed at the home over the August long weekend to celebrate my nephews wedding. The house was as advertised and the little extras made our stay convenient. Staying downtown was especially nice for ourselves and our grown children and their spouses. .
This was perfect for our three generations. Plenty of room to spread out and come together. Walking distance to anything in Halifax proper. Just two blocks or so from the boardwalk and another few up the hill to the Citadel and shopping. Halifax is a great town and we would definitely stay in this house again.
We stayed here with 4 adults and two girls 3.5 and 6. It was lovely. Very close to the convention centre where 2 were attending a conference, and close to shopping and many activities for all. A quick walk to the waterfront and many historic sitesâright next door to Government House. It was a bonus that LM Montgomery had stayed here too. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well appointed. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, etc., and it has a full stove, and full sized MW, DW, and fridge. There is also a new laundry set in one of the top floor bedrooms. There was lots of space for all of us with even a bedroom leftover. The large living/dining room was very functional, and we had plenty of room for hosting meals with friends weâd known when we lived in Halifax previously. We had a fabulous time, and Holly was a super host! The only caveat would be this is not an accessible property being 200 years old. We could all negotiate stairs well, but there is a flight of stairs to the front door, and two more long flights to the top floor bedrooms. There is one bedroom on the main floor and a powder room, but the only tub/shower is on the top floor. We did fine here with 6 people, but restricted mobility would be an issue with this property. Otherwise, itâs a gem!
Got there, everything was ok. Moved table over (cause the backside was against the wall) 2 friends arrived to pick us up before dinner. Owners office was below, she barged in without knocking, screamed at us saying we had to many people staying there. I explained that the two people were just there picking us up. She screamed at us demanding we leave for having a party. Absolutely no party. She claimed we had a party because there 2 empty pizza boxes, an empty wing box, empty garlic box. There was 4 of us adults who got pizza the night before. (4 of us were registered guests). There was also a bag of empty water, pop, and beer cans IN THE RECYCLING BIN⊠we never made a mess at all, no damage obviously. Very strange experience. The host left us stranded in Halifax at 5pm at night. I would avoid at all costs.
I have never before enjoyed such a luxurious property on a short term rental. The reality is that I donât own a home with four bedrooms with four-post beds in an historic place in one of my favourite cities. Remarkable furnishings. Fantastic host. My wife canât stop talking about it. Very thankful.
The balance of period furniture and modern appliances was perfect. Beds very comfortable. Thermostats in each room allowed individual comfort. There were six of us, age 18-78. Great location for easy walk to restaurants and places of interest. Host was very responsive and a delight to work with. We hope to stay here on future visits.
This property hosted 7 women with high standards, the property exceeded all expectations! Clean, comfortable beds, lots of room and walking distance to all amenities, everything you might need. Holly the hostess was very accommodating and available. We shall return.
The 4 bedroom 2 bath appartment was spotlessly clean, full kitchen setup, beautiful furnishings including canopy 4 poster beds. The location was great with easy walking distance to downtown Halifax, the boardwalk, restaurants. Holly was very communicative and helpful. I would highly recommend this place and would love to stay there again!
