Very cool house with unique designs! The road right before the house was a little washed out so our small car was a little tricky but a truck or SUV would be fine!
We enjoyed the space available inside for my family of 5. Older home but clean, outside space overgrown and not usable but the location was great for going to Six Flags and the Arch. Was close to many attractions.
A little hidden back off the trail but the place was very spacious and had everything we needed. Only down to the weekend was that the yard area was not cut so we didn't feel comfortable doing a fire or adventure through the area. All and all we truly enjoyed this quirky little place
This place was hard to find. Upon arrival we notice the grass was so tall that the picnic table area was unusable. Inside was spot cleaned but could use a deep cleaning. Vents and fans were covered in dust, cobwebs in corners, tv didn't work. There is or has been recently a leak in the roof.
This property was so whimsical and fun that we would totally stay again. We came for a soccer tournament. My 4 kids loved exploring all the nooks and hidden corners! There was a kind sized bed that my husband, myself, and our 4 year old slept in, two twin beds in the top room, and two full sized pull out couches. Every room is on a different level. The moose head added a wonky charm! We loved the fireplace! This by far has been one of the most fun and charming places that we've stayed!! We will book again next year for this tournament!!
Big beautiful home with coutry downhome feeling. Very spacious large decks many entry and exits. Scenere is definitely outdoor woodesy. Very functional with all accommodations. Will be back hopefuly longer visit next time.
We had a fun family vacation here. The cabin was fun and in a great location (30 mins to downtown St. Louis and 5 minutes from a state park with fun hiking.)
We really enjoyed our stay. This is a unique place to stay for sure, but the house was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with what you need. Two negatives: there is a picture of a white neighboring house associated with the listing when you look at location, and the gravel part of the road could really use some repair. If we did not have a truck to navigate the snow we got while we were there, it could have been a real problem. We would stay here again.
The place definitely has character and is quirky and kitschy. I really liked its unique layout. I did not like the bugs. We killed more than a few big spiders, like larger than a quarter, several millipedes, and countless ants in the kitchen and living room with the moose head. Weâd be sitting on the couch and then feel something crawling on our armâŠants! The musty smell is a bit overwhelming when you first walk in, like an old damp basement. If anyone in my group were immunocompromised, I would not have stayed. The floors are very uneven with lots of stairs and poor lighting. Do not rent this place if you have mobility concerns. There are a couple of soft spots in the flooring that felt like they were ready to buckle. Not to mention the floors being filthy and turning the bottoms of our feet totally black. Apparently there were guests that had checked out the morning before we checked in, but the cleaning between guests did not seem very thorough. The garbage from the previous guest was left under the carport instead of the garbage bin. We found a marshmallow stuck in one of the stove burners and the utensils were not completely clean. Lots of cobwebs and dust in the vents and on the ceiling fans. Strangely no curtainsâŠ
There were 2 negatives, but the structure of the house made you forget them. Outside could be trimmed up better, seemed a little overgrown and the bedroom you 1st walk into had a little musty smell. The bed was super comfy and there are lots of nook and crannies to explore. I would sray again for sure.
the homethe home.
Nice place, lots of rooms! Loved the location. Only suggestion is more curtains to help with a bit of privacy when changing clothes. đ
Loved the moose!!!
The cabin was amazing. Wasnât quite prepared for all the stairs it made it very unique. Loved all the characters that the house has. We will most likely be back.
We were in town dealing with family issues, the properties proximity to nature & to town was awesoâŠ
The only thing I would say is this property is not handicap accessible, so if you have issues with stairs this is not the place for you⊠Otherwise âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž across the board⊠Would definitely recommend and stay againâŠ
Itâs not a cabin. Lots of stairs, lots of exterior doors. Had a musty smell that was difficult to get used to.
Was ok for the purpose we used it for. 4 guys going to Metallica concert. Probably wouldnât be great for a family trip.
The cabin is fun but has several quirks that would have been nice to know about before booking. Like the main door into the cabin going through the primary bedroom, all the levels from room to room, or the lack of latching or locking doors into any room.
Those things could be lived with but I reached out apologetically when our plans changed and the host was rude.
We were obviously bummed that the Cardinal bs Yankee game we traveled to see was postponed, but thanks to this fantastic property our group still had a great time and a relaxing evening! We had a couple groups who stayed in hotels downtown that left the stadium and went to bed to complete their wasted experience, while we came back to the Vrbo, and just spent time hanging out in the different and awesome gathering areas in the super unique layout - drinks under the moose, a fire (not really because we didnât start one, but the dormant hearth was good enough for June) and some tobacco pipes on the deck under the stars. Topped off with a great comfortable nights sleep for the whole crew. Would love to come back again and highly recommend the property and manager!
The place was filthy when we arrived, we spent time cleaning ourselves just to feel like we could sleep. We could hear mice in the walls at night. We ended up leaving early, we just couldnât take it. The home was in disrepair. Communication with the owner was poor, he did not give check in information until we reached out the day of scheduled arrival and when we reached out regarding the mess and unkempt conditions he claimed the house was clean and accused us of spamming him when we stated weâd be leaving early. We have submitted a request to VRBO customer support but based on this experience we will never use VRBO again.
Really fun place. Lots of room to entertain, lovely views and as everyone says, quirky. We are low maintenance, and itâs a low maintenance type of place. If you just want to have a fun place to stay that isnât just some boring antiseptic housing development, youâll like it.Very close to Castlewood Park, where I was hoping to get some hikes and running, sadly, it was flooded out, but itâs a great park Iâve run at before. We come to STL a lot and we will return.
