I booked the cottage for a birthday getaway with family. Cottage is close to lots of hiking which is what I was looking for. Loved the great room at the back of the cottage, my favorite part, it felt like you were in a tree house. If there was one thing that bothered me is that the house is really close to the main road so road noise was a bit loud at certain times of the day. Communication with the owner was fantastic, had a problem with the TV in the evening and he was very responsive even though he was out with family. I appreciated that.
We had a wonderful getaway. Love the history of the bungalow, the great room, and the style/decor. The beds are also very comfortable. It was perfect for a small family of three and our dog was also welcome! The hosts are very nice and communication was great and we appreciated the attention to detail. The backyard and the property is amazingâlove the bridges! We like that you can hike over to Kooser State Park in about ten minutes. Inside and outside, you can enjoy the sounds of nature and the beautiful stream. We were surprised by the close proximity of the cottage to the busy road (PA-31) and the sound of cars/trucks isnoticeable. However, I was able to tune it out and there is a sense of being transported when youâre in the backyard amidst the trees and the stream, and the woods. We enjoyed our stay!
The bungalow was terrific! Full of history and more space than anyone would need. Kitchen fully outfitted heating sources were perfect and the backyard fire pit was outstanding. The backyard Creek and Bridge made for a perfect setting. Road noise was a bit loud went out in the backyard, but you couldnât really hear it from inside. Close to parks, wineries and distilleries.
we enjoyed our little mini getaway very much. the cabin/lodge was spacious and accommodating. we walked the trails and spent time in the back with the babbling brooks and firepit. we enjoyed preparing and eating dinners from the kitchen
Stayed two nights in this lovely vintage lodge. Loved the fire pit with the stream and woods. Hiked to Kooser State Park on a trail behind the lodge. Laurel Hill State Park is nearby and went on 2 beautiful hikes. Please know the front of the house is on a busy road but the back yard makes up for it. The owner was very responsive and friendly.
roamakes up for it. only
House is cozy and conveniently located to see many sites. Hiking, waterfalls, Fort Ligoner and the Flight 93 Memorial are all within an hour of the house. The house has everything you need to be comfortable. There is a bit of road noise at night but there is a white noise machine in the bedroom that helps.
I would stay here again.
The cottage was fantastic and beautiful! Lots of things to do outdoors. The host was great and the process of checking in/out was easy. Thanks for allowing us to stay!
David was a wonderful host and responded quickly to questions. The home is filled with all sorts of well thought out details. The large window room with the view of the creek was so peaceful we didnât want to leave. Iâd come back again for sure.
Clean comfortable home. Nice location in relation to hiking and ski resorts.
Back yard is amazing.
You do hear traffic from the road however it is still a beautiful setting.
My day job is an enginner for a major IT company, while my hobby is historic home renovation. I am married and we live in the Washington DC area with our 2 children.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and I love the Laurel Highlands.
The atmosphere and creekside setting of this property is breathtaking, and has been features in national magazines. It is very close to the largest concentration of Ski Resorts in the Mid-Atlantic, and other attractions in the Laurel Highlands.
-Beautiful setting among the stream and woodlands. - Trail leads directly into state park; makes for great hike or morning jog - 1 mile/5 min to ski resort. Easy for skiers and nonskiers -Walk to resturaunt with good food and great prices - The atomsphere at sunset during the summer on the stone patio and firepit with a nice glass of wine with friends is priceless.
