Our stay at the Hidden Treasures was nice. It was very nice to be right on the beach. The pool was great for the kids to play in. The house was on the older side. The AC unit had a hard time keeping up with the hot temperatures in the upstairs part of the house. The lower bedrooms stayed cool during the hot times of the day. At night the AC unit was able to finally keep up and cooled the house down. Overall it was a good experience.
The location of this house & the private pool were amazing. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, & the pool was an added bonus for when the beach wasn't cooperating. We arrived at the end of a tropical storm, so we weren't able to access the beach for 1.5 days due to the sand whipping, but the pool balanced it out! We didn't necessarily have any complaints, just some quirks that happened....1) The HVAC unit for this property wasn't large enough to cool the downstairs & upstairs. Wasn't a big issue for us because we were rarely inside, but it may be for others. The downstairs always remained cool. The coolest upstairs got was 72 at night while everyone was asleep. As soon as everyone was up & moving, the unit would become overwhelmed, resulting in 78 degrees upstairs (all doors & windows closed per instructions from property management). We opted to turn AC off during the day, & leave doors open for a breeze inside. We would turn it back on at bedtime.2) Pool cleaner showed up unannounced Wednesday morning at 8am. This kind of freaked us out because we thought it was a random person who wandered onto the property. At no point were we informed of someone coming to the house. While we appreciated the cleaning after the storm, guests need to be informed of this ahead of time!3) The listing photo shows a picnic table. The table isn't there anymore. Additional seating & a table on the upper deck would be an amazing addition!
The location was great, the property was nice other than a few oddities. The 2 bedrooms downstairs were nice, I thought it odd that there was a huge gap under the door to enter and there was a window in the door with no curtain or shade. Our 26 year old son stayed downstairs and didnt mind it though. You did have to go outside and upstairs and the ramp by the pool to enter main house or go through the garage and up the front steps. The waher and dryer were in the garage area so you had to go out and downstairs to do laundry, the washer didnt spin out completely so you had to do an additional drain and spin cycle. The main house was nice, the refrigerator is set back so that the doors dont fully open but there was an additional refrigerator in the garage which was nice. The internet left alot to be desired, the t.v.s in the bedrooms wouldnt connect at all and we used my sons xbox for the main t.v. and no t.v. at all in downstairs rooms. It was only really an issue when our 3 year old granddaughter needed a break or in the evenings as most of our days were spent at the beach or in the pool. The kitchen was nicely equipped except not a pair of tongs in the place! Middle of the day, no shade outside on decks and pool deck gets super hot. Noticed that nobody cleaned the pool the whole week we were there and maybe thats done on days people check in/out. Also we had 3 cars and barely had room to park all three cars. The picture in the listing was deceptive, looked bigger.
We managed to book our stay during hurricane Debby. Aside from the timing, we all enjoyed our stay and still managed to spend some time on the beach. The house is a bit older but has that cool beach vibe going on. We all agreed that we would stay there again.
Talked with the host s a couple times and they are both good folks and friendly.
We had a great time! There were pros and cons to this property. The host/owners were very nice & easy to work with. The pool is great & a huge plus for this property. Plenty of seating outside. The house is set back from the other houses & gives more privacy. The listing is not accurate as there is a king and a queen bed upstairs & a king and a queen bed downstairs. 2 bathrooms upstairs & 1 bathroom downstairs. The downstairs used to be outside parking. There is only one bathroom downstairs & the ceilings are low. If you are tall, you will not fit in the shower. Since this is under the house there are no views (the pool heater & the side of the neighbors house). The king room downstairs has 1 of the 2 doors to the outside, which ends up making the bedroom a walk thru for other guests to get outside. Itâs not clear in the listing, but you have to go outside from these two rooms to get to the rest of the house. Not a huge deal, but worth noting. The house does have ramps to get from the ground to the pool and the rest of the house, but there are fairly steep. In dry, bare feet, one of us fell on the dry wood ramp. They are working to get the plastic decking to replace the old wood. The whole pool area is updated with it. The plastic decking does get VERY hot during the day. There are some nails sticking up in the area where the wood is on the ramp. The kitchen is well stocked. The queen bedroom is outside the kitchen, which can get noisy. Overall a great house for a smaller group
The property was a bit cramped for 5 adults and 2 young children. It would be far better to have had a direct connection between the downstairs and the upstairs. We had great weather which put us outside most of the time, which helped to alleviate the overcrowding of the space.
We had a great time at this quaint beach house. No frills, no hassle. The kitchen is well stocked with gadgets for cooking. The beds are comfortable. We used Febreeze for the musty smell in the downstairs bedrooms & it fixed it. The owner was very prompt & kind. Will be back!
This property is exactly what you would wish for. The upstairs is easily accessed by a small flight of steps. The interior is nice and cozy with plenty of room. Beautiful ocean front view from the living room area and master bedroom. The sliding glass back door opens to a shaded porch area that opens up to a sun deck with full ocean view. Then a ramp leads to your pool area with a passage to the bottom floor. The bottom floor is perfect for elderly folks or teens at the age for privacy. Two bedrooms down stairs asking with 1 and a half bath. I give this property 6 Stars if I could. Will definatly request to stay again.
Hidden Treasure lived up to it's name for our family. Size, property owner, condition of the house, pool, and location were perfect for us. The house is older, but in really good condition. We had no problems at all. We hope to stay there again next year.
Great location, excellent communication, needs work
First of all the property owner/manager was great, fast to respond and helpful. This property was beachfront, and in a nice uncrowded area. 5 stars for management & location. BUT, this property was overall in pretty bad shape and in need of alot of minor repairs. My wife almost got locked in the bathroom because the doorknob was practically falling off. We did not shut the door the rest of the stay. The patio door did not lock, only with a 2x4, and the door was extremely heavy. Everything inside was very outdated and just seemed to be neglected. We own a couple rentals also, and I would personally be embarrassed to rent out a property in this condition. It was not terribly dirty or unsafe feeling, just not what we expected the condition to be. Also, another big issue for us was the other 2 bedrooms downstairs could only be accessed by walking outside down stairs to a separate entrance door. Very musty smelling as well. We decided not to use those rooms because of these things, so I had my daughter sleep on the master bedroom floor so we could have my mother sleep on the main floor with us in the 2nd bedroom, and not downstairs. The pool wasn't big, but worked well and was clean, and we had the heat turned on for an additional cost. Was great to jump in the pool after a long day on the beach. The outdoor shower knob was broken/rusted so you had to use pliers (my mother and wife could not really work it). The hose on the pool deck was almost as bad, and you would cut yourself on a rusty deteriorated knob if not careful. Just little things like this were a slight let down. I don't want to go on and on about these little things, because we all had a great vacation for my birthday weekend, and there were not any major issues. The lower rooms being separate from the rest of the house was inconvenient, but there was a washer and dryer downstairs that came in handy. Regardless, it was a beachfront home, with a pool, in a great location. Classic old school beach house. I would not stay there again unfortunately, unless there was some repairs & upfitting done
Our stay was wonderful for the older family members it was hard for them to get in out of the pool it needed a hand rail . One of the tiles fell on the bed it was downstairs there was a water leak from one of the bathrooms upstairs that caused it but it didn't take no time for someone to come out to fix the problem . I'm going to say this it just like your own house things tear up things happen it will not prevent me to not rent this property again it was very convenient to the beach it kept the kids happy with the pool we loved it
This traditional beach cottage was perfect for our small group. It wasn't anything fancy but was clean and had a wonder location! Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
This is a great little beach house. The kitchen is stocked with enough pots and pans (even a slow cooker) so you can easily cook meals instead of going out. The house is in a great location and the pool is always a nice option to have for when the ocean is too rough.
we really enjoyed our stay at the "Hidden Treasure." Absolutely loved the pool to just float around in and relax after fighting the waves in the ocean đ Just a really relaxing week. The owner was very easy to communicate with and got back to me with any questions. Only had a small problem with the back door doorknob not wanting to lock because it was loose. Beth had somebody out right away to fix it. Overall it was a wonderful experience âș
We were so looking forward to our first vacation in almost 2 years over Motherâs Day week. The house seemed to be falling apart, we saw multiple bugs, the downstairs smelled strongly like pesticides, and there was a mouse trap underneath one of the beds. All of this we would have overlooked. We knew the house was dated and werenât expecting anything fancy. But the pool was supposed to be heated, and I even asked about it before we left and they said everything would be good. As soon as we got there we noticed the pool was ICE cold and after we sent multiple messages, we did not get a reply until the next day, after we had called the property management company (they tried to charge us a large fee to use the pool, which we had already paid). The homeowner came out to check the pool heater for 5 minutes, said he would call someone to come fix it, and in 7 days no one ever came to fix it. I asked multiple times over the next several days and emphasized that we had two little kids that really wanted to swim, and the ocean is cold in early May and that the only reason we spent so much money to rent the house was because of the heated pool. Although they apologized, there seemed to be little to no concern on their part to fix this important issue. It seemed like they didnât even care at all. And apparently this wasnât the first time that happened because they said that this happens sometimes after storms, yet no one made an effort to check it the day of our visit to make sure it was working. It was extremely disappointing and frustrating to say the least to spend a week with a pool that we could barely even use. Every time the kids got in for a minutes, they had blue lips and were shivering. If they wouldâve just made a little more of an effort to make it right, it wouldâve made such a difference. It really put a damper on our vacation and I would definitely check to make 100% sure the pool heater is working if you go outside of the summer months. :(
Owner was extremely helpful during the rental! The property was well maintained and the amenities were unbeatable for the price. Will definitely rent again!
Absolutely the most perfect little spot for the off season when the ocean is still too cold to enjoy swimming in. The pool was warm, clean, and inviting! The house had beautiful views and everything we needed! So great, wish it was mine :)
This was hands-down one of our favorite vacations with friends and kids. The location couldnât be betterâthe private pool was amazing (once we figured out the heating temp features) and you are steps away from your own private beach access. We had two families, each with two kids (ages 3-6), and because of the pool and beach access, it made it easy to enjoy the outdoors, kept the kids busy, and allowed grown-ups to relax! The inside space is nothing fancy, but that was perfect for us. We would recommend having a few more hooks or shelves in lower bathroom for towels/kits. The neighbors on both sides were so friendly and gave great fishing tips! The host was so responsive to our questions. I would also recommend they have a guest info book or something to explain WiFi, pool instructions, maybe best restaurants nearby, etc. I felt like I was pestering the host with questions, but like I said, she was always quick to respond! We will definitely be visiting this place again!
We really loved this place and look forward to renting again! The only suggestion is that you all update your listing and add more pictures of your property. You really have a perfect place to stay! We hope to book again with you all soon!
