This is a super characterful gite. Very well equipped and beautifully decorated with use of a beautiful heated pool. The owners, Shona and Steve make you feel very welcome but also give you privacy. Quick drive away from large supermarket and provisions at St cyprien and close to Beynac. We would highly recommend the gite and this area for a relaxing holiday.
Me and my family recently had the pleasure of staying at La petit baronnie. What a wonderful time we had. The owners were very friendly and attentive without crowding and the views from the gite were wonderful. The gite itself was very homely and most of all, it was clean and very well kept. As for the swimming pool, it was also very clean and it was a very serene relaxing environment. The local food and vineyards were great. We have already recommend La petit baronnie to our friends and definitely intend to return next year if not sooner. Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to seeing you again soon
This is a lovely property with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday. Shona very kindly left some provisions in the fridge for when we arrived - and some wine too! The pool is lovely and has the most amazing view out over the valley. Plenty of space for a family of 4 with older teenage children. Shona and Steve were very hospitable and gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit, markets, etc. We had a great holiday and would definitely recommend La Baronnie Gite. Only thing to mention is that the stairs are quite steep and might not be very suitable for those with more limited mobility.
Superb Gite which was better than the description.
The property was immaculate with all the facilities you could wish for. Despite arriving a day latter than planned we were met with a very warm welcome and drinks with the other guests. Our welcome pack was a delight with all the essentials provided including wine. We will recommend this Gite to all our friends and will return in the no so distant future. Great views, great location with lots of superb resteraunts nearby what more do you need. Shona & Steve were great hosts with a mine of information. Faultless.
We (myself, husband, 2 boys plus Aunt & Uncle) had a wonderful stay here. The gite has everything and more. Shona & Steve are so welcoming but discreet. They had thought of all the little details in the welcome pack. I had no need to worry about breakfast. Pool towels, dishwasher tablets, shower gel, soap etc all provided. The heated pool is beautiful with great views. Plenty of loungers. A very relaxing spot. Our boys loved Shona & Steves cat. The gite is in a perfect location for seeing all the sights and is very close to St Cyprien for shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
A well situated gite for access to local facilities.
Quite well equipped and a supply of basics but with a very steep and open staircase - not good for young children or their aged grandparents!
Apart from our non- welcome on a ten minute early arrival, our main criticism was the tripping of the electricity supply on consecutive days and the process to rectify it. Clearly a supply inadequate for the needs of two GĂźtes and a pool.
A well equipped Gite in a beautiful location. Steve and Shona were the perfect hosts, on hand to give tips on where to visit They were so friendly and helpful and the arrival peach Bellini drinks were a lovely touch. They had thought of everything for your comfort, a lovely well equipped kitchen, good quality bed linen and fluffy white towels. The outside area is lovely and since we both enjoy going to the local markets to buy food, we had some great meals cooked on the barbecue and eaten at the table in our patio area. The swimming pool is so peaceful with stunning views over the valley. In fact we liked staying at the Gite so much we extended our stay. So many things to do in the area, highlights were the Sunday market in St Cyprien, eating fine food at the local restaurant Bistro d'Epicure, visiting the historic town of Sarlat, visting Chateau Millandes and canoeing on the river Vezere. We will definitely be returning.
Heerlijke vakantie gehad
The gite is very tastefully decorated and retains a lot of original features while still being contemporary. A lot of thought has been given to what guests might want or need and this is one of the best equipped gites we have stayed in. The accommodation is on three levels with steps which would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues or possibly families with young children who want to be close to parents. The twin room is in the loft with a large beam across the middle which is low but adds lovely character.
We usually prefer gites with total privacy as we both work hard and need time away from people but Steve and Shona somehow manage to strike a perfect balance between being friendly and approachable but not in any way intruding. They were helpful and gave us some great advice about suitable activities.
Our boys, age 16 and 8, enjoyed the pool which we had to ourselves most of the time and wifi making a relaxing time for us all. They also enjoyed occasional visits from the hosts cat.
The gite is well situated near to lots the region has to offer but in a slightly less touristy area with beautiful views across the valley.
Overall we would highly recommend this gite as it has lots to offer.

Hervorragende Unterkunft
This authentic gite was was clean, well maintained, well equipped with a good layout. Large live in kitchen adjacent to a smaller lounge area with TV. One the first floor there are two good sized bedrooms , one of which is en suite. Both bathrooms have modern shower systems. On the second floor, accessed via a spiral staircase, is twin bedded bedroom. The gite is set in a lovely gardenwith a short stroll to the very private heated swimming pool. Very peaceful location and setting but only a short drive to many of the local attractions and restaurants. Great area for walking, cycling, swimming, chilling by the pool and BBQâing. Shona and Steve are great on - site but discreet hosts who have an in-depth knowledge of the local area. They offer a very welcoming and hospitable reception to guests.
Excellent !
Warm welcome ,
Enjoyable first evening meal with our hosts.
A place to relax in a very clean gite that provided for all our needs.
Well thought out and maintained facilities / equipment.
We hope to stay again.
We stayed for a week and booked both the apartment and gite. Both properties are typically French which we loved. They are maintained to a high standard and have everything you need and more. Shona and Steve were fab even providing information on the area before we arrived. Bellinis and local wine on the first evening and the welcome treats in the property were such a lovely touch. The pool is such a bonus for the children to use after a day exploring all the region has to offer. I cannot wait to go back!
This beautiful Gite is in an ideal location to explore the prehistoric caves, the numerous chateaus, the Dordogne river and the beautiful historical towns and villages.
The Gite is of a high standard with all amenities as well as a wonderful pool with stunning views over the Dordogne valley.
The owners (Shona and Steve) made you feel so welcome and ensured you had everything you required.
I would definitely recommend this Gite.
A wonderful homely gite with everything required to have a relaxed holiday. Very tastefully decorated and furnished. The house is very well equipped and the welcome basket of essentials very much appreciated. After a long journey the supermarket is the last thing on your mind!!
The Gite is in a great position on a hillside with amazing views across the Dordogne countryside. very centrally positioned to visit all tourist villages/sights.
The pool is amazing- very clean, lovely comfy sun loungers, amazing views while you relax and chill out after a morning of sightseeing.
The outside table/chairs & BBQ great for evening meals with food from local markets and local wines to wash it down!!
The local village was minutes away by car for all essentials.
Bikes were available to use, which on this occasion we didn't use.
We will definitely recommend to family & friends and hopefully ourselves be back one day.
The owners are very welcoming and helpful on any local information.
Shona and Steve very welcoming owners nothing was too much trouble. Gite very comfortable and clean as was the pool and outside areas. Had an amazing just out of season stay!! Highly recommend this time of year if you want peace and quite yet enjoying the beautiful countryside!

I left a stressful job as a maths teacher at an academy in Gloucestershire to pursue our dream of a new life in a new country. When we fell in love with La Baronnie we knew the cottage would be perfect for a gite. We hope you love being here as much as we do!
We live on site, keep a low profile but are available if required. Equally, if you wish to be private on your holiday, that's fine too, we won't be offended!
The Dordogne area is just gorgeous with a wealth of history, places to visit and a wonderful climate. We viewed over 30 properties before choosing La Baronnie. Our sunny, south-facing location amongst wooded hills with rocky outcrops is idyllic, with spectacular chateau forts and honey-coloured medieval towns and villages nearby, who could want for more? We love the house and its views, its warm-coloured stone, traditional french windows, shutters and pigeonnier tower, its quirky layout and character, numerous patios, woodland, pool with a view and traditional French cattle-stalls in the gĂźte.
