This was our second stay and we choose to return, because all 5 of us love this house and the surroundings. The weather wasn't great, but the house was cosy and we used the fire-place. Sarlat is at a good distance to do the shopping and sightseeing. We went to Beynac castle this time, went canoeing and walked in the area.
Ariane was lovely and very welcoming.
Our kids have already told us they want to return.
It's a lovely house - best equipped house we've ever stayed in.
Very clean and owner was so helpful and any problem quickly solved. It's in a wonderful setting surrounded by trees and wildlife.
The pool was a blessing and so clean. What's not to like!!
We booked a year in advance and was our first post covid holiday. The accommodation was in very good condition with everything you needed and plenty of space. Arianne was locals and available but we didnât need her help as everything was obvious. The pool was the main feature and was very welcome in temperatures of 37c plus. All the family enjoyed the stay and I would definitely recommend. Check in was super quick and Arianne came to say goodbye the night before we left. Overall - excellent accommodation, great location, unobtrusive but welcoming host. Thank you Arianne.
We had a wonderful weekâs stay. Our gracious host was always available and so very helpful. It was great to have a pool and also the Dordogne at the end of the garden! We like privacy and this place certainly did not disappoint. Centrally located, all the most beautiful attractions are on the door step. We used Brive airport (from Stansted) and hired a car. On return the fuel tank was still nearly full despite using it every day for visits. Everything is so close by. Fans were useful for the hot nights. Closing all indoor and outdoor shutters helps too. The house is very well equipped so expect much of what you have at home. A lovely stay. Thank you!
A great place for a superb holiday. The river with its sandy beach and the large pool are a winning combination for a family holiday. The house is very well equipped, comfortably furnished with good beds and most importantly the windows and shutter systems all work and the ceiling fans mean everyone keeps cool and can sleep in hot weather.
The bedrooms are fine, each with a wardrobe and chair and two have basins in them. They arenât large but are well equipped, and all open off a small landing. The bathroom is a comfortable size and there is a small separate toilet off the landing too.
Downstairs there is a large shower in a very large and well-equipped laundry room and the toilet off the hallway is useful when coming in from the pool.
The pool is beautiful with an outside shower too. The views are lovely and there is a covered pergola to eat under although we often used the shade of the trees. There is a large very effective coal barbeque and lots of cooking equipment. We missed having a patio area outside the house as the grass was rough, spikey dry and uncomfortable to walk on. It also meant bits were constantly trodden into the house. The only disappointment was not being able to pay for cleaning at the end of the week and with two active small children and having to be out by 10am, that meant a very early start And was hard work before a long day of driving. But weâd do it again to stay in such a lovely holiday home.
We stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2023.
We arrived and Ariane (owner) had been let down by her cleaners so there was a small delay before entering the property. However once we gain entry we were more than happy with the accommodation and facilities.
We were a family of 7- 4,8,9 children, parents and grandparents.
There was lots of pool toys, toys in the house, games books. Ariane has lots of baby items if you need. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of pans and utensils.
It was very hot (35-40C) when we stayed and could have benefitted from some AC but we managed and there are a couple of fans around that we used.
The pool was great and very family friendly with steps into the pool for children to play on. There were sun shades and sun loungers (only 6).
Ariane is a great host and we saw here a couple of times on our stay cleaning the pool and was lovely to speak to her.
The gite has access to the river, which we used to paddle board and swimming the river - although very strong currents so be careful.
Next door is a campsite and we heard no noise from this what so ever. Further down the road in Montfort is a boulangarie (which is 25 mins walk) and also a lovely restuarant we visited twice on our stay.
Vitrac port has canoeing, but we also found a canoe hire just a short distance up river in the campsite just past lassagne (15 mins walk).
Sarlat is 10 - 20 mins away depending on traffic.
Would stay again!!!
This was pure Dordogne you want to see on a holiday!
The house was authentic. The location was really good close to the attractions Dordogne offers.
The landlady was very nice and friendly, we had a super nice conversation in our best French with her.
We'll certainly come back.
The property could have been cleaner. There was also some exposed electrical wires.
Be fully prepared for mosquitos as the property is near the river there are a lot of them.
Es stimmt hier einfach alles. GenĂŒgend Platz, die Ausstattung, das Umfeld und die Natur. Morgens das Konzert der Vögel. Die Kids haben das Poolleben genossen. Wir die Ruhe. Hausbesitzer ganz lieb und man wird umsorgt. Kommen gerne wieder.
Eine Oase der Ruhe. Ein groĂer WohlfĂŒhleffekt mitten in der Natur und eine herrliche Umgebung. Und eine zuvorkommende und hilfreiche Gastgeberin. Was will man noch mehr...
