Charmant cottage en pierre sur le lac Upper Rideau, Westport, ON

Thank you for your thoughtful comments, I'm glad everything was just what you expected and included everything you needed. Please stay in touch when you're ready for more time at the lake!

Thank you for such thoughtful comments, I'm so glad you found my place to be so ideal for your getaway. The firepit is my favorite spot, too! I hope you'll visit again :)

Thank you, Michael...it IS the perfect mix of remoteness yet proximity to stores & pubs, isn't it! I look forward to having you back.

Wow, thank you so much. This is by far the most wonderful review I've ever received. Funny, I just wrote something similar about this place for an essay contest. Because it IS like that. It's just exactly like that. I'm so happy to know you loved it as much as I do!

Thank you, Janice! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your time at the cottage, and found some of the local "gems" like the winery. Hope you'll come back again!

Thank you, Aarne, I'm glad you found everything to be comfortable and well-stocked for your long-weekend getaway! Thanks for being a great guest, please stay in touch if you'd like to reserve dates for next year. :)

Thank you for such thoughtful comments, Marlene, I look forward to having you back next summer! And thank you for mentioning the steps to the dock...though we have taken care to include landings and a sturdy railing, it's still helpful to note that there are stairs down to the waterfront. Much appreciated!

Thanks for such thoughtful comments, Joanne, I hope you'll be back when you're ready for more time at the lake!

Thank you for such detailed comments, John, this is helpful information for future guests. I'm glad you had such a great time, I definitely welcome you back anytime!

Thank you for your thoughtful comments, John. I'm happy to enjoyed the screened porch so much, it's my favourite spot as well! Especially in the evenings when the loons are calling. I hope you were able to enjoy the new propane fireplace as well for some added coziness. :)

Thank you, Heather, I'm glad everything was so enjoyable. I hope you'll come back when you're ready for more time at the lake!

Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Clare, it was a pleasure to have you as a guest. I always LOVE seeing all the wildlife around the vicinity of the cottage, but I've never seen a black bear... I'm jealous! :) Thank you for recommending me, and please stay in touch when you're ready for more lake time!

Thank you for the feedback, Susan. I'm glad you enjoyed your getaway! You’re right about the steps…those panoramic views you see in the photos come from being perched high up off the water. It’s a lovely vista, but not ideal for someone with severe arthritis or mobility issues. I have to admit being a bit surprised at first by the housekeeping concerns, as other guests have noted how clean they felt everything was. This is why, after reading your comments, I reached out to you directly for more details. I greatly appreciate you getting back to me by email so that I could address any issues immediately (before the next guests arrived). To summarize your comments, you noted seeing a spider and some dead insects, bird droppings on (the exterior of) the patio door, and (what you called “the most jarring thing”), a bathmat that would no longer lie flat and probably needed replacing. While I’m sorry these troubled you, I was glad to know that everything else seemed to be in good shape: dusted and vacuumed, sinks & toilet clean, fridge & microwave scrubbed out, bedding clean, etc. Based on your comments, the housekeeper replaced the bathmat with a new one and will be more vigilant going forward to get rid of any intrusive spiders or bugs while she is there. And while she doesn't have time to wash windows each time she is there, she will certainly pay more attention to the patio door. Don't want to ruin those views! Thank you again for pointing these things out so I could get them addressed right away. Kind regards, Erika

Thank you! I hope you'll be back :)

Thank you, Leslie, isn't the wildlife amazing! We love seeing the rabbits, turkeys and deer when out for our morning walks. Glad you got to enjoy that, too!

Thank you, Tamara, I'm glad you discovered all the great places nearby like Foley Conservation area and the lovely villages of Westport and Newboro. And that you found the cottage to have everything you needed for a great holiday. I hope you'll stay in touch when you're ready for more cottage time!

It really is like stepping back in time to a simpler way of life, isn't it? I'm so glad you were able to enjoy some authentic and carefree "cottage life." Hope you'll come back when you're ready for more. :)

Thank you, Janice, you're most welcome! I'm happy to know that staying in one place for two whole weeks was made easier and more uplifting by being in the right surroundings. Now that you've passed the quarantine milestone, I wish you and your husband an enjoyable rest of your summer!

Thank you, Cherry, I'm glad you got the relaxation time and change of scenery you were looking for. And thanks for sharing photos you took at the cottage, they were nice to see! I forward to welcoming you back.

Thank you, Jody! I'm so glad it was everything you expected (and just what you needed to soothe your senses). It's great you were able to catch the sunrises. Not everyone gets up early enough, and they ARE totally worth it. Looking forward to having you back next year!

Thank you, Glyn! Glad you found the sanctuary and retreat you were looking for. Come back again soon!

Thank you, Tania, it was a pleasure to host you. And I really appreciate that you communicated with me during your stay to let me know about little things that needed attention so I could have them taken care of. This cottage keeps getting better thanks to thoughtful people like you! I hope to have you back again in the future.
