Not worth the cost
I really wanted to like this place, but i should have just booked a hotel instead. I had issues with the hot water and the power went out, and the property manager did not deliver the service I would expect from a place costing so much. I was told to contact the electrician myself and that it “wasn’t a big deal that I had to do some work” on my trip. That’s inexcusable. Even that aside, the place isn’t worth the money. There is mold on the ceiling, and the floor had plaster dust on it. This experience honestly made me never want to use HomeAway ever again.

Thanks for the expected review Deborah. True to form, a complete pack of lies. The fun started when unlike 99% of guests you couldn't figure out how keys work. So we helped with that. The next day you tripped the electrical breakers that are installed for your safety - so that a short circuit in anything you plug in does not cause you to get electricuted, or cause a fire. We explained to you how to flip a breaker switch back into the ON position which takes about 30 seconds and put you in contact with our recommended electrician when you insisted the breaker switch was not fixing the electrical issue and that the power was not working. This seemed odd as it reallly does take 30 seconds to figure out how to flip a switch. We never suggested you pay for the electrician. What we said was we were happy to send them to help, which needs to get paid for as electricians and call out fees in London are not free. We made it clear if there was any issue we would pay for it, but if there was nothing wrong except the breaker switch needing to be flipped which we had explained to you several ways and even had the electrician in touch with you to explain by phone and with photos the you would have to pay him. This, by the way, was after you demanded a full refund after staying for 2 days...at which point we made it clear we were not going to give you a full refund because a breaker switch was tripped by something you plugged in. Miraculously despite the fact that no electrician in London will come out to do a job for free, and that it normally takes several hours you then told us within 5 minutes that you had found an electrician in London who was your friend and who had now magically fixed the electrical issue you had been asking to use as an excuse for a full refund. Amazing given you are from the US.
As for hot water, and mould & etc it is you never mentioned any issues with this (remarkable fiven you are clearly happy to complain.) We would have gladly helped. The flat has its own central heating and hot water system. There is a thermostat on the hot water with a lock button (as on many high end shower/bath taps) which is there as a safety feature so you don't burn yourself. You just click and rotate past it for hotter water...but you didn't ask...
This flat was completely repainted in the third week of January as part of annual maintenance.

A lot of Inaccuracies in the Listing
This property had many inaccuracies compared to the listing. In the listing, there was a photo of a coffee machine as well as description that listed a coffee machine. The apartment had a Nepresso, but there were no pods. I messaged the host about this and they told me "sometimes guests use the rest of the pods and don't notify us" and told us where we can buy more. Obviously, I am not going to restock the apartment with Nepresso pods, so I was unable to have coffee during my stay.
There were also issues with the room, bed and living space. The couch was extremely uncomfortable. The reason we booked the apartment was so we could have space outside the bedroom to relax. The couch was broken, sunk in the middle and basically not usable. The pillows in the bedroom were also terrible, they felt like lumps of cotton stuffed inside pillow cases.
During our entire stay, there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom. It smells like sewage and mold. We had the window open and the fan running constantly and it did not help.
The wifi was very slow, we were unable to stream any video/music using the wifi. It was only good enough to do basic web surfing. The TV had limited cable channels and no streaming services whatsoever. In the living room, there was a large speaker that was only usable with an iPod (I dont know anyone who still has an iPod).
The apartment lacked other necessities such as wash cloths, hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom, coffee (as mentioned).

Great Studio
A great studio setup with the bedroom separated from the living areas. Stocked upon arrival with cleaning materials, towels, clean sheets, etc; with the added excitement of a bottle of sparkling wine!
Full kitchen of appliances, laundry, clean bathroom, all added up nicely.
Great communication with the owner, fast responses and easy back n forths.

Great Shoreditch flat in a fun, lively neighborhood
We had a great stay at this flat located in Shoreditch. It is in the heart of a fun, hip neighborhood and close to many shops/restaurants including coffee, cocktails, and boutiques. It is also very close to public transportation. We would definitely recommend it.

A Lovely Stay!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this flat. It's conveniently located to Old Street and Shoreditch High Street. There's a bus stop right in front and two grocery stores a few feet away. You're right at the center of a cool, exciting neighborhood and have everything you need if you're looking for a longer stay that feels more like having your own apartment in London.

We enjoyed our time here. It definitely felt safe with three sets of entry so no fear you will get in well. Great neighborhood for eats and bus access. We appreciate the quick responses to any questions we had with the owners and it was lovely to have wine and water waiting for us after a long flight from the USA. Would love to return.

Nice accommodations, poor communication
Our experience started quite frustrating. We arrived in the late evening after a long flight and had not received check-in instructions to the unit. We tried calling the owner several times and texting and nearly had Vrbo get us a hotel because we were camped out at a local bar for two hours with our luggage with no where to sleep. When the owner did send the instructions it was easy to follow and the unit was clean and the water and Prosecco was a nice touch. We were happy to see laundry in the apartment and were able to do a few loads which was helpful but we needed to buy our own laundry detergent as well as shampoo/soap for the shower as there wasn’t any, which was surprising. The area is great for coffee and late night bars and we didn’t find the apartment to be noisy and the fan in the room gave us some good white noise at night. Considering the area is one of the hip neighborhoods at the moment it would have been cool to have some local recommendations of bars/restaurants/sights left in the apartment.

Unfortunately Marissa did not contact us to ask how to check in until she was already standing in front of the building. And then expected an immediate response, which sometimes is not possible. We recommend all guests contact us at least 24 hours before their arrival to make sure that their check in is easy and successful.
We do not supply toiletries, as most guests have personal preferences as to their preferred brands. There are at least three different supermarkets within a 5 to 10 minute walk with very large selections if guests choose to not bring their own.
Noise is an issue in any inner city, especially in the hottest neighborhood in any town. Shoreditch is no different. If pin drop silence and monastic quiet is of the utmost concern accommodations in a quieter part of London would be a better idea.
As always, communication and research is key.

Beautiful flat but on a very commercial street
We stayed as a family of 3 for 5 days in September. This flat was in close to proximity to where our adult daughter was living, which is the reason we chose it. The Flat on the interior is exactly as the photos show. Great aspects of the accommodation: 1) modern, very bright and airy 2) fantastic bathroom with a rain shower 3) air conditioning 4) modern American style washer and dryer 5) comfortable queen bed 6) quiet once inside the flat 7) numerous codes and keys to get in both the building and flat so felt very secure once inside.
The only negative was: curb appeal – the entrance is through a metal industrial-type door on a very commercial street, which is in front of a bus stop which faces in towards the door, and the door appears to lead into the pizza restaurant. The view from the large living room/kitchen window is of the overground. The street is very busy with partiers on weekend nights. I confess to knowing little about Shoreditch before we arrived. As a middle aged North American, the entrance to the flat and view from the flat were a little unsettling at first. However Shoreditch definitely grew on us after a few days. And we took a few beautiful photos of the sunset behind the overground.
Perhaps we can say we are part of the trend now. Especially since we had dinner several times in the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club around the corner: food was great and we loved the beautiful brick interior; and the overground shook the building every time it went by which added to the ambience.

Fun stay!
Very convenient to restaurants and the vibrant neighborhood of Shoreditch. Excellent coffee out the door to the left at Claudia’s and a wonderful lunch or dinner option to the right at Two Lights. The bus stop at the front door allowed us ready access to all the major sights in London. The Shoreditch tube stop is a short walk down the street. We skewed a few years older than the evening crowd reveling in the local clubs at night - probably something our young adult children would have loved. We kind of liked the noise but once we closed the double window it was dead quiet and we slept soundly. (Note for American travelers: the bed is queen sized and comfortable though is listed as “full.”) Stairs were not an issue - fewer steps than the flights we are used to in the U.S. The flat was well appointed and had everything we needed. We would stay again.

Nice Apartment near Central London
Neat, clean, and comfortable. Worked well for our family of 4 with 2 adult children. Easy access to the bus (literally out the front door) and tube (Liverpool station), which allowed us to go everywhere in London. Comfortable apartment and we appreciated the AC. Owners answered all our questions quickly. Would stay there again.
