Lovely traditional villa just outside Gaucin. Quite a steep walk up to town but only 800m to the supermarket and 1km to the town and restaurants so OK if youâre reasonably fit.
Fabulous villa, gardens and pool. Highly recommended! Views are so very beautiful. Very quiet and peaceful location, yet a short walk into lovely Gaucin with its superb restaurants including one with a Michelin star, not to be missed! Will return!!
The views from the villa are stunning and itâs in a very quiet and peaceful location.
Lovely pool and jacuzzi. Lots of room to relax and kitchen is very well stocked but we are out most of the time.
There is a steep, bumpy lane leading to the villa, which like previous guests, we tended to drive to the top rather than walk when visiting the delightful village Gaucin.
There are some lovely restaurants to eat in, some amazing views and plenty of interesting places to visit.
We had a fabulous week here - I could look at the view forever. Also loved the garden and pools. The house was bigger than I expected and lovely throughout. Itâs easily walkable up to Gaucin in the evenings but I wouldnât recommend it in the heat of the day. We had o standard hire car and it coped fine with the track down to the house. Thank you for a memorable stay.
Just returned after 9 days and had a fantastic, lazy, restful holiday in the most perfect setting.
As others have stated, the pictures do not begin to do justice to the villa. Daily, we had to pinch ourselves as we admired the fantastic view from the gardens of the surrounding mountains, whilst lounging by the pool in the extremely well maintained gardens.
All facilities were available at the villa, and the village of Gaucin is a real gem...enough to do, but still relatively unspoilt with a good choice of bars, restaurants and shops.
It's a longish walk to the village from the house, especially in the heat, but not impossible, we tended to drive to the top of the private lane and left our car there...told you it was a lazy holiday!
Cannot recommend the villa and area enough...
Georgeous spot with amazing views and beautiful gardens
Would definitely recommend the three bedroom villa lovely authentic place full of character(further two beds available in annex for larger parties).
Only advice would be to hire a 4wheel drive as the unmade road to the villa is too rough for a regular car and although you could walk to the village in about 20mins again sturdy shoes advisable due to the road.
Villa Reine was all that it said in the description and more. The arrangements for the meet to be shown where the property was worked well. On arrival at the villa there was a lovely welcome gift. The standard of the property is extremely high. The garden is exceptional with lovely fauna, and very well maintained. The pool and the jacuzzi are exactly as pictured - lovely. The property is snuggled into the mountain side, which gives exceptional views, and is totally secluded. Villa Reine is set in a very peaceful setting, just the sound of the goats bell as they move on the hillside below.
It is about a Πof a mile on an uneven steep track to get to the lovely village of Gaucin. We walked to the village every day, we enjoy walking and was certainly worth the effort for all the benefits of the Villa and gardens.
Our only regret was that we only had four days at the villa.
If you want a true escape from it all I would recommend this villa.
Villa Reina - Peaceful, Quiet and Relaxing (but within easy reach of Gaucin village).
We have been visiting Gaucin for over 20 years and have stayed in 3 other villas, all of which provided us with the type of relaxing holiday we enjoy. However, we were quite taken by surprise at the setting of Villa Reina with its exceptional views over woodlands to the mountains in the distance and its semi-tropical gardens (with an aviary for additional birdsong sound effects). Wonderfully peaceful and colourful with just the sounds of the birds and occasional visits from the flock of sheep roaming in the woods below. We made a number of visits to Karen O'Connor's Gourmet Deli in the village as eating in gave us more time to enjoy the cooler evenings and to watch the sun go down. In the villa itself the main double bed was comfortable and there was a good shower and new fridge freezer which meant we were able to store food rather than shop daily. The gas cooker was easy to use although the worktop oven/grill did take some getting used to. We had our usual walks around the village stopping for coffee in the square with the fountain. We also did make trips to Tarifa, Ronda and Puerto Banus (for lunch by the harbour entrance) but we always enjoyed getting back to Reina's wonderfully peaceful setting. The main pool is deep virtually from the steps to the far end but the jacuzzi is an ideal splash pool for small children. Our thanks to the owners, Juan, Isabel, Marina & Tatiana for letting us use their home and garden and also to Esta & Brett for helping with the booking. We would certainly recommend Villa Reina as a tranquil retreat. We were there for 10 days in July 2017 and have been missing it since we left! We hope to be back next year.David & Susan (from Lincolnshire, UK).
