Perfect property for a family gathering. Lots of space inside and for dining. Parking was great outside the back of the house for all three cars each day.
Accommodation was clean, comfortable, within close walking distance to a few eateries and shops, and near Peak District favorites such as Chatsworth House and Bakewell. The children especially enjoyed the playground just across from the back garden. Our only disappointment was that the listing said there was a hot tub, but that must have been an error. All in all a great stay!
We loved our time in the Peak District and Tideswell was the perfect base for us. This adorable cottage was a little hard to find, but friendly neighbors showed us the easy parking area near the back of cottage and all was well. The tranquil private view from the front patio was one of the big benefits. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Our family was driving back from a trip to Scotland and then on to London, so this pretty cottage in Tideswell was a welcome and lovely 2 day stop over.
The cottage was so nicely appointed and cozy. We loved the gardens and the walks into town. We highly recommend the Anchor Inn for the food and the friendly staff.
The owner was super responsive to a question when we arrived. I cannot say enough nice things about the lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Wished we could have stayed a week!
This cottage was gutted and cleverly designed so that the downstairs is spacious, but upstairs is slightly cramped for 6. It is on the edge of the village, but still only a brisk five minuted to the shops, so is nice and peaceful
We had a lovely two weeks here. Unfortunately the weather was not great but it didnât stop us. The house is great, everything we needed. Plenty of seating. There was always parking available.
The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable, everyone slept well and the showers were powerful and warm, which is not always the case in other places we have stayed!
We visited Bakewell. Buxton (Buxton Caves are worth a visit), Alton Towers, Stoke. Matlock Bath and more. Met up with friends in Derby, plus walking and cycling.
All in all we had a great time and didnât want to come home.
We chose this property purely because we wanted to be in Tideswell. Itâs a nice house - nothing special, but with everything we needed. (Except for a tumble dryer, which the property description seemed to claim it had.) Small bedrooms, but comfortable. Although there are 2 bathrooms they are both upstairs - a downstairs WC would have been nice. The house is located at the top of town, so you are required to walk up a steep hill to get back every time you go into town. Overall, no complaints.
This was our second stay at Butterfield Cottage - two wonderful weeks at this cosy, comfortable, immaculate cottage. The owner, Jan, was so kind, accommodating and quick to respond allowing us early check in after an overnight flight and late check out as well. The cottage has everything you could ask for - comfortable beds, two bathrooms, well appointed kitchen and cosy living and dining space. The weather was outstanding so we made great use of the front terrace as well as the rear garden. There are great places to visit within short distances (Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Peak Caverns to name a few). Tideswell has wonderful pubs and there was a fun food festival while we were there. We also took greak hikes including Mam Tor.We highly recommend Butterfield Cottage to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, beautiful place to explore the Peak District. Th
Very nice cottage, much bigger than it looks from the outside. Charming setting too. The second shower room was very useful. All facilities and equipment you may need. Comfortable sofas and beds. Good communication from host. Tea and milk on arrival was very welcome.
Initial appearance of the property was not very inviting and disappointing eg paint peeling and generally looked rundown .inside was clean but something had been put on the tables was very sticky.the kitchen was well equipped and easy to use The rear of the property was not very inviting as it appeared not to have not been swept for sometime The mattresses of the two front bedrooms were not great ! Sitting room comfortable.
Appreciated occasional use of Boiler in evenings
Best facility the patio for breakfast and dinner weather permitting
This is a perfectly positioned property: near to a couple of village shops but you can also literally walk from the house out into the countryside. The view from the terrace out front is wonderful.
Enjoyed the Peak District from this central local. Be sure to enjoy the Mechants Yard for dinner and the Anchor Pub. Enjoyed the Tideswell Dale to Millers Dale trail and the Anglers Rest pub. Saw Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Lea Gardens 500 varieties of rhododendron, Longshaw trails, Bakewell, Castleton/Cavedale trail, and the beautiful wood carvings of John the Baptist Church there in Tideswell.
I would definitely recommend this cottage. It is spacious for 6, homely, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Information from owners was clear and accurate and they made it easy to book etc. We went in deepest winter and the cottage was lovely and warm.
The area is stunning. Amazing walks from the doorstep and Tideswell has a handy, inexpensive local store plus excellent pubs and cafes for food. It's a really pretty village. We plan to return!
A lovely cottage in a great location. Lots of local amenities and a great base for the peaks.
Manages to be spacious and cosy at the same time!! Was lovely and clean and the tea and biscuits left for us where a great touch. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher.
The owner was very easy to deal with and responded to all queries very promptly.
Highly recommended.
