We were a family meet up of 5. The cottage was immaculate on arrival, tea, coffee and milk and cookies all there to use. Key code was given prior to arrival. Great location for park and ride. Lovely cottage to spend time in. Wewill be back.
Our family absolutely enjoyed our stay at the quaint Ivy Cottage. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. The cottage was very clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The little touchesâlike the delicious treats left for usâmade us feel welcome right away. Our children loved watching the cows in the nearby fields, and my husband and I appreciated the calm, relaxing atmosphere. It gave us a much-needed break from the usual pace of life.We hope to return again soon. Highly recommended for families looking for a quiet countryside retreat.
The property fulfilled our family's needs. Private, quiet and plenty of parking. Although we were on a farm there were no farm smells, only the cattle mooing in the morning, but did not disturbed. The open aspect to the rear of the property gave us views over the fields. The location was perfect for the park and ride into York and the shopping outlet on the A19. The property its self was well equipped, clean, good showers and spacious. Would be confident to recommend to friends and family.
Really lovely property and enough space for 5 of us. Everything was as described and clean. We had a fabulous 4 night stay and a great location. It was easy to get to York, McArthur Glen and Scarborough. We would definitely return, the owners are lovely and the bonus, a little farm shop.
An amazing house, clean and beautifully decorated. No clutters. Had everything one would need. Very comfortable. Lovely location, lot of privacy and tranquil. Perfect place to relax and unwind. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nice welcome treats đ.
A lovely Barn located just 10 minute short drive from the Park and Ride taking you directly into York city centre. Brilliant location for exploring the loval area.
The Barn was lovely, clean and welcoming with everything needed. It really was home from home and exceeded expectations. The oweners provided a lovely welcome pack which was gratefully received. This was a treasure to find and we will definitely come back again.
Great cottage and location. Short car trip in to York.
Lovely location. Lovely cottage / barn conversion perfect for what we needed for our 3 night stay. Not technically a 3 bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and has a mezzanine level which has a double bed. Fine for families sharing and was perfect for us but probably not ideal for 3 couples.
Cottage is well equipped and was very clean. Would definitely recommend!!
Spacious and clean. The upstairs bed with its spiral staircase was the perfect spot for my teanage daughter to hide out. Thanks the complimentary bottles of wine! The well equiped kitchen came in handy for cooking dinner on our stay in nights. How about adding a clothes washing machine and dryer.
This property is so much better than the photos make it look. We booked for 2 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of space and itâs so much Bigger than it looks online. It was 10-15 minutes out of York for most of the activities we did but the location didnât bother us. We had a full size kitchen stocked with plenty of stuff to do dinner and breakfast there. We would absolutely stay here again. Laundry with washing machine and dryer was outside the building around the corner in another room. We caught up with about 5 loads of washing which was perfect. Thanks for a great stay we were really happy.
This was an amazing property with great views of the cows and we were very happy for our 4 night stay. On arrival we were able to relax in the Garden and enjoy the sun , but we looked at the forecast and the rest of the time was going to be very wet. It was sad that we only got a few hours with no rain , but after going into York and getting wet for 2 days we were so pleased to be able to come back to this amazing property. It's larger that it looks in the pictures and very well located for the park and ride. We would like to come back some time, great beds and great night sleep and a very well equipped kitchen. Next time we come we may have better weather and get to explore the area .
On a wet day the designer retail park 15 mins drive away is great , some nice shops we don't get in the south and our boys loved all the big sports shops and Haribo shop.
The barn would be ideal for a small family or, in our case, a couple for a two-week stay. The owner was flexible enough to allow midweek to midweek. Our stay was 2nd and third week of June
Location is ideal for access to park &ride to York, and a stone's throw from the A64 with access to major arterial roads. Take the back roads to the Wolds and Moors for best scenery. Use a map if you have one or be prepared to frequently redirect gps
An excellent property ideally located for York and surrounding area. High quality place to stay with ample room for 6... even more for the 4 of us. Has a small grassed garden which would be ideal for summer but not used this time round.
The accommodation was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Location was perfect for us. Just a few minutes drive to the nearest park and ride. We would definitely stay again if ever we're in that neck of the woods again.
The property was lovely, quiet, well outfitted. The beds were acceptable, some more comfortable than others. Having two bathrooms was wonderful.
Supplies were a little skimpy. Providing 3 dishwasher pods for 4 people for 4 days was not adequate we also had to buy toilet paper as 1.5 small rolls for us was not adequate.
On arrival we were given the keys and pointed towards the entry. We did not locate the washer until the evening before our departure (in an adjacent building). Since we were in UK for almost 3 weeks we had planned on doing laundry during this period.
I suppose we could have demanded more information or supplies, but did not want to come across as nagging. When I had stopped by to mention the skylights were open, it looked like rain and I didn't see how to close them the response was curt and did not encourage additional communication.
The location was perfect, the building was lovely, just a little more communication would have made it ideal.
Great location in a farm, private garden and set back from the main road, spacious bedrooms, fully functioning kitchen. A great 5 day break and base to explore York, the coast and surrounding countryside
Kevin grew up at Ivy House Farm, Kexby, in 1985 married Jayne and we have both worked on the farm since then. In the year 2000 Jayne opened a pet shop and put plans in motion to convert an old farm building and pig sty into Ivy Cottage. This has been a long project, but we wanted Ivy Cottage to be a stunning and comfortable place, with high standards, which we would love to stay in ourselves.
Ivy Cottage is located on the family farm with open views of the countryside but close to York city centre, York Maze, Elvington Air Museum, MacArthur Glen Designer Outlet and is also ideally situated for the east coast, Leeds, Harrogate, the Yorkshire Dales/Moors.
There are several villages nearby which have good pubs/restaurants and other local amenities so everything required for an enjoyable holiday is close to hand.
