We had the best time here and are so grateful to Lucy, Clive and their family for being such brilliant hosts. The setting is incredible with beautiful views of the hills, olive groves and villages from the pool. The apartment is well equipped and very clean, with a nice area to eat outside. The village of Colle di Compito is close by and has sweet little shops and some restaurants and a pizzeria weâd recommend. Lucy and Clive were so kind and welcoming, helping us with advice and recommendations for the area. We loved spending time with them and their lovely dog Amber by the gorgeous pool. We canât recommend this place enough and would love to return again soon. Thank you, Lucy and Clive!
Die Ferienwohnung ist sehr sauber gewesen und die Vermieter waren sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich.
Es hat uns gut gefallen und wir haben uns wohl gefĂŒhlt.
Lovely holiday in the middle Toscane. Perfect place to spend your free time. Good travel distance to cityâs like Florence, Pisa and Lucca. The apartment was good and clean. Last but not least, the swimming pool was very refreshing!
Very helpful and welcoming hosts; beautiful property in a great location. We had a fabulous week there. The private garden is lovely and there is a pool to cool down in. Spacious property for two.
Colle di Compito is a perfect base for exploring Tuscany. We hired a car at Pisa Airport. Lucca is a must see, well worth hiring bikes to make it easy to get around. We also visited Florence, Pisa, Cinque Torre and San Gimignano
We had a lovely stay in this apartment. Everything was clean and well equipped. The bed was good and the Wi-Fi was fast. We spent 10 days here and enjoyed several meals outside in our own private corner in the garden. We would really recommend this place for a beautiful stay in Tuscany. It is a short drive from Lucca, and it is easy to travel to Pisa, Florence and Viareggio (if you want to experience the beach).
The hosts, Clive and Lucy (and the rest of the family as well) were extremly helpful and lovely and we felt very welcome.
Thank you for a great holiday experience and the wonderful nigtcap on our last day. We had fun!
Beautiful, full apartment in the Italian countryside in wonderful farmhouse; with all the amenities one needs. Full kitchen, bathroom, double bed and dining area, inside and out.
Lucy and Clive are very knowledgeable hosts who are experts on the surrounding area, Lucca and Florence. They had many suggestions on things to do near the house and in surrounding towns. Driving distance to Lucca or a short bus ride and just a train ride away from florence.Breathtaking views of Tuscany all around and a lovely place to go on a walk and get lost in the view.Clive and Lucy went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable!
The apartment is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It was plenty of room for my family of 5. The apartment was clean and full of country charm. Lucy and Clive made themselves available whenever we needed anything. They are very nice.
Clive and Lucy,
We had a wonderful holiday in your apartment. We enjoyed the peace and quite of the private garden in the apartment. Your welcome basket was great and the charcoal and matches for the barbecue was a lovely touch. We found the takeaway and the local restaurant were convient. The location was spot on near to Lucca, Pisa and other locations. Yet peaceful and quite, you were there to help if needed but not inttrusive. We will recommend your accommodation to our friends.we had a truly lovely holiday. Donal and Maire
Beautiful location with amazing Tuscan views and very lovely, friendly owners.
The property is very clean, comfortable and spacious. The owners and their family who live above the apartment are very welcoming and invited us to eat pizza that we made in their pizza oven on our last night. We went on a beautiful walk on our first day, following the directions that Lucy and Clive gave us, and also visited Florence, Marina di Vecchiano and Cinqueterra during our 5 night stay. Having a car (which we hired from Pisa airport) made it very easy to explore Tuscany. There are are local shops and restaurants in the area. The apartment has a private garden and a small outdoor pool which are ideal for a day of sunbathing. Our stay was perfect and we would definitely stay here again.
What a lovely little apartment - and such a warm welcome from Lucy and her family. Although small in number of rooms they were all spacious and the whole apartment was perfect for a couple. Lucy made us very welcome and was always there to help but never intrusive. The local village restaurant and pizzeria were both excellent, the walks (directions from Lucy) gave stunning views over the countryside and the walk home through the olive groves did provide the promised experience of seeing fireflies for the first time - quite magical. The only note of caution - if you are looking for complete solitude this is not the place for you as it is in a group of 4 houses that have young families and you cannot expect children to be quiet in what is their home environment.
We spent a week in the apartment. The setting was beautiful with most of the home comforts we needed. Having the owners nearby was very handy and we enjoyed their company during our stay. Our only small moan would be that the bed settees in the lounge were not very comfortable to relax on. Its in a perfect place to enjoy the delights of Lucca, Pisa ,Sienna and florence. Perfect for a couple.
From the moment we arrived at Lucy and Clive's house we knew we were in for a good holiday in Tuscany. In the countryside, yet not remote. Clean and comfortable inside, and a garden to relax in whenever we felt the need. Lucy welcomed us and Benjamin had left daisies on the doorstep for us. Sadly they were wilted by the time we arrived but were replaced the next day and put in water on the bedside table to last the rest of the week! We sampled all the local restaurants and found them excellent. The fireflies in the olive groves were magic! Doing the 4 mile walk up the mountain to Castelvecchio was a rewarding experience as neither of us are great walkers. Coming back to the house after visiting Lucca, Pisa or Piazza al Serchio (nothing there), was like coming home. Lucy and Clive were there to welcome us, listen to our tales, but never intrusive. A truly memorable holiday.
This apartment is spacious with plenty of room for two people, sympathetically restored to maintain the character of an Italian farmhouse with exposed beams, traditional terracotta ceilings and tiled floors. It was spotlessly clean and was well equipped for self-catering.
There are restaurants in the locality, a delightful bar in the village which was only five minutes walk away, but we usually took at least 10 minutes to stroll there through olive groves. The scent of grass, herbs and jasmine in the morning was a delight, as was hearing a cuckoo, something seldom heard in England anymore. There are mountain villages to walk to or drive to and in the village itself, there are shops selling 'real food' - fresh meat: chicken, traditional pork chops, prosciutto crudo to die for, as well as locally grown fruit and veg an of course fresh baked bread.
Lucy and Clive are excellent hosts: very friendly and approachable, knowledgeable and helpful and always on hand without being intrusive. They gave us good advice on where to visit and backed this with a detailed knowledge of the area and the best places to eat.
We were there for two weeks which flew by, but gave us time to slow down to village pace as well as seeing the area, and what an area: Florence to the east; Pisa, Lucca and the coast to the west; majestic mountains streaked with marble and dotted with spas to the north; Siena, San Gimignano and the rolling Tuscany hills to the South.Â
A very enjoyable holiday!
Lucy + Clive are great hosts. Very happy to help with ideas + local knowledge. Best ice cream parlour in Florence worked for us! The accom is clean, comfortable, well appointed and just as described. We like to self cater + it was good for us. Only 3 nights meant a short visit but we came from Pisa, then did Lucca ( and Collodi Pinnichio Park / Villa Garzoni) easily by car and Florence by train on subsequent days. Well located for 2 great days out. Would recommend.
These location was pretty good. Perfect for sightseeing, not far from highways, near Pisa and Lucca, one hour to Florence, 1hour 20 to Siena. the Apartment was clean and comfortabel. I missed only three things in the kitchen, toaster, coffeemachine and a bigger pot for Pasta.
The terrace and the garden with little pool is beautiful.
In the evening, the music or the tv from the owner was sometimes a little bit loud for sitting outside.
But you can talk with Lucy and Clive about everything. They are friendly and helpful.
Thanks Lucy and Clive for a great time and excuse my bad english!!!!
A delightful Tuscan house in a beautiful setting - surrounded by olive groves and wooded hills. The apartment was simply but comfortably furnished, and spotlessly clean. Clive and Lucy are great hosts, nothing too much trouble. Colle di Compito is un-commercialized, with lovely short walks around the village and further afield for keen walkers. We especially enjoyed walking through the olive grove to the bakery, bar and other local shops. This was a short get-away for us just to relax so we weren't looking to go sight-seeing but we love Lucca where we went by bus a couple of times. It was good to be able to relax and read in the garden and a dip in the pool was very welcome in the afternoon. We would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the real Italy.
A beautiful authentic italian villa with all modern facilities. The garden and pool features are great for relaxing in and for cooling off. Everthing was immaculate and well maintained. A rural setting in stunning olive groves and walking distance of picturesque village. The village has little shops a baker , butchers, grocery and a lovely cafe. The locals are friendly and helpful. Lucy and Clive are very hospitable and very helpful with directions timetables etc and have extensive local knowledge. It is a great central location for touring around the tuscan countryside and also for exploring the beautiful towns and cities ie. Lucca Pisa and Florence. A thirty minute drive will take you to stunning beaches. There is also an outdoor swimming pool nearby to enjoy lounging around. The restaurants nearby were lovely and also take away pizza nearby. I would recommend this property to my friends and family. it was an amazing experience i'd want them to experience too.
Clive and Lucy were excellent hosts giving recommendations for places to eat both locally and in Lucca, Florence and Pisa ,which we followed and were not disappointed, getting quality and an authentic Italian experience .The apartment was stunning with a beautiful terrace and back drop of the local mountains and olive groves. We shall be returning as there is just too much to see or do in one week.

Although I work a lot in the UK, I spend as much time as possible with my wife and 4 boys at our beautiful home in Colle di Compito, where we have had a home since 2006. Throughout 2009 we have restored, with the help of local craftsmen, the ground floor apartment to our house. We are all English, but my wife and family speak Italian fluently.
We bought this house to make a family home in our ideal location, which also makes it ideal as a holiday destination. The house is set in beautiful countryside, yet only walking distance from all amenities. With travelling regularly locality to good airports at Pisa and Florence is important. I sometimes work in Florence and the commute to the city centre is easy from the train station at Pontedera. The village has a lovely feel and the people are very welcoming, many locals will try and speak English. All summer the locals meet at Il Campo, a playground with Tennis, Volley ball, Football and bocce (a kind of bowls), from 9:00 in the evening until the early hours, every generation is there and you would be made most welcome. There are many festivals to enjoy locally.
The English owners are resident upstairs, so any difficulties you have can be quickly resolved, ideal for those who are concerned about language problems. The village is served by a reasonable bus route and the train station is excellent in Pontedera. It is possible to stay in the village without a car (taxi from airport about 70 euros) and still visit Lucca, Pisa and Florence. There is excellent walking directly from the house, either in the Pisan mountains or to the marshes below including a WWF protected reservation.
