Great apartment within walking distance of Dublin attractions.
This apartment was great for our family as it was in easy walking distance of all the city center Dublin attractions and offered great views of the city. The apartment was clean and efficient.
Everything was amazing. Great property and great location but initial email said if if apartment was available, could check in early. No mention of early check in fee. We were charged $45 to check in early. Huh?
All representatives in the main office were very friendly and helpful.
The unit was large enough to accommodate the 4 in our group comfortably but anything over 6 would lead to very crowded conditions.
The unit was all hardwood flooring which didn't deaden any noises, there was no carpeting and/or rugs which are shown in the photos of the unit.
Cable to the TV was damaged upon arrival.
Heater in the kitchen area did not work and the microwave wouldn't work after 2 days into our stay.
We were expecting housekeeping and clean towels daily as was indicated in the description of the property but we were informed that this was only included in 7+ day rentals. Towels had to be washed in the tiny washer and dryer unit that took 8+ hours to complete 1 cycle.
If housekeeping is not included in shorter stays it should be indicated and the units should be equipped with ample cleaning supplies as well as spare towels.
Manuals for the operation of the appliances were not in the unit nor in the welcome pamphlet.
We were left a note that maintenance was in our unit when we were away but there weren't any notes left as to what was looked at and/or repaired, may have been just to see that the cable tv was working???
1. THE SMELL!!! The apartment smelled terrible when we entered. Like a previous guest had cooked something terrible and smoked cigarettes in there. We immediately opened all the doors to air it out and had to go to Tesco to buy air freshener. After that it was only bearable and by no means fresh.
2. At check in you have to pick up keys at an alternate location. We were given the wrong keys and couldn't get in to the apartment. The did respond quickly when we called though.
3. Everyone in the apartment will have to stay awake while the others showers as there is some sort of pump or compressor that kicks on when the shower is running and it is amazingly loud despite being in a closet. Imagine a portable air compressor or a lawnmower sound.
4. Cooking smells and cigarettes waft through the apartment from adjacent apartments even though it does not appear that there is a shared ventilation system.
5. The corner shower in the ensuite bath is incredibly small. One must turn sideways to enter it as the door opening is super small. Additionally, it is approx 10" (25.4 cm) off the floor. Imagine having to step out of a shower sideways with a wet foot onto a tile floor. No one that is even slightly plump will be able to use this shower.
6. The pictures were not of the apartment we were given. No living room rug or chairs, just a worn pleather sofa.
7. Only one kitchen towel was given, no dishrag or sponge and ONE dishwashing machine tablet. I guess they intend for a sink full of dirty dishes to be left.
8. Seems that Europeans do not use clothes dryers. This apartment had the typical front loader - that's supposed to dry also, but doesn't. Alas, the drying racks in the front closet.
The property was hard to find and the management company gave shoddy directions, told us there was street parking, when that was insane to navigate. Found a garage on our own around the corner. This was not the owners, they followed up with a phone call--it was the management company. The property itself was clean, but very sparse--5 people, 5 towels. No extra blankets, pillows etc. No directions on how to use washer, or "welcome" book with area restaurants etc. like most rentals we have stayed in. Remote control and blow dryer were both broken. The building itself was very "cold", not temperature, but hallways echoed, and doors slammed continually.
My older teenage boys loved the modern space and thought it was "cool" but I wasn't thrilled. The kitchen also smelled like cigarette smoke. Some people will like this very sparse space, but it wasn't for me.
Good communication before arrival. Pleasant helpful staff at check-in. Let us stay till 11 on day of leaving to finishing watching the rugby world cup! Easy access to everywhere.
Overall this apartment and location are quite acceptable for a visit to Dublin. It is on the north side of the river close by to The Spire, but within easy walking distance to the major areas of interest for our group.
We had a couple of issues related to the accuracy of the online listing, which was quite disruptive in that we chose this place in part because of the available amenities. Specifically it was listed as a 3 bed, 3 bath, but in reality is only had 2 bathrooms. This really became an issue when the plumbing in the master bathroom became unusable, requiring that all 6 of us were now using 1 bathroom for the last 2 days of our stay. The other issue was that it was listed as having a washer and dryer, but only had a washer. This significantly disrupted our visit as we all packed for our trip based on the availability of as washer and dryer during our 4 days in Dublin.
Management was quite responsive to our issue inquiries. Unfortunately two of the issues could not be addressed while we were there: the number of bathrooms and the unfixable plumbing issue in the master bath. On the issue of the washer/dryer Andres worked very hard to solve our problem related to the lack of a clothes dryer, for which we were appreciative. In addition, Management refunded a portion of our rental fees as an act of good-faith for our troubles, and they hired a taxi to take us to the airport on our last day.
Overall while our experience in the City Centre Apartment was not perfect we think that Management's handling of our issues was very responsive and we would not hesitate to stay in this location and/or with this management company next time we visit Dublin.
