This was our 2nd year staying at Jayâs place. It was just as wonderful as last yearâs stay! Should we plan another trip to upper MI, we would definitely stay here again. Love everything about it, the location, the view, the house. Our dog, Millie loved it too!
The cottage was wonderful- plenty of room, clean, well stocked, beautifully updated, and close to everything. The lake is gorgeous and the beach area was great for the kids. The host was incredibly responsive and a breeze to work with. Our whole family had a fantastic time!
The house is as pictured.
The beach was a little bit overgrown but still nice.
The host was very responsive which was a positive. I wish towels and/or sheets would've been provided but it was clear in the listing we had to bring our own.
Location was great, super close to Frankfort & the grocery. Overall, I would recommend.
The lovely cottage was just as described. We had a wonderful week relaxing and recharging. This was our first time visiting Michigan and we have lots of fun memories from our trip. There is so much to do in the area, from the dunes, bike trails, the cute town of Frankfort, and Traverse City not too far.
Property owner was great and communicated. House was great beside the fact that it was obviously not cleaned thoroughly. The rugs were very dirty and the comforters that are left on the beds have obviously not been washed for a long period of time. You bring your own sheets. The lake was great.
Great access to Crystal Lake. Close to Frankfort, Benzonia, and Beulah. The house is a bit secluded in the trees, but it is nice for privacy if you want that. The public access next door was busy with swimmers, paddlers, and boaters, but nothing that bothered us. Great rock bass fishing in the evening right around the 10 ft mark.
Overall the house was impressive and perfect for our needs. It was rustic yet updated with all the right touches. There were lots of windows to capture the lakeshore breezes, the kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. A favorite spot was the sunroom looking out on the lake.
Our kids enjoyed the badminton/volleyball court and we all appreciated the easy access to the water. The water may have been cold, but it was a great swimming lake! The house was located to two nearby quaint towns. We loved our stay and hope to come back!
I traveled with my mom and my two teenage daughters. We wanted to stay longer than our planned 2 nights. We enjoyed all aspects of this home and our stay. The kitchen was roomy and we enjoyed preparing our meals. We comfortable sat at the counter to eat together. The lake, dock, and beach were fun to swim and relax. The living room was comfortable to lounge in. We spent time talking on the deck overlooking the yard and lake. One of my daughters found her happy place in the hammock. The bedrooms were roomy and beds and pillows were comfortable. The shower was refreshing. I took my 15 year-old at her word when she said the tub would not hold water when she went to take a bath. Jay was super to work with and communicate with. He recommended things to see and how to strategize my time (as we were limited and needed to squeeze in as much fun as we could). BRING your own towels, washcloths, and sheets. For the bathroom, kitchen, and the queen/double/twin beds you'll use. I felt completely at home as if my own, though it was someone else's family pictures to enjoy around the house. I feel like I made friend in the process. I hope to return someday.
My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Crystal Lake Cottage, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. From the incredible location to the well-appointed house, everything about our stay was simply perfect.
First and foremost, the location of this cottage is unbeatable. Situated right on the lake, we enjoyed direct and easy access to a private beach. The beach itself was a dream, with its pristine sand and crystal-clear, inviting waters. If was especially idea for families with little kids, as the water was not too deep. We spent countless hours swimming and building sand castles, creating memories that will last a lifetime. And let's not forget about the breathtaking sunsets we witnessed from the perfectly located fire pit. It was the idea spot to gather around with loved ones and bask in the beauty of the day's end.
The house itself was spacious and clean. We were impressed by the stocked kitchen, which made it a breeze to prepare and enjoy meals with our family. There was ample seating and plenty of room for everyone to relax. The back porch quickly became our favorite morning coffee spot, offering a tranquil setting to start our day off right.
Jay was incredibly responsive and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Additionally, the detailed document provided with nearby activities was a fantastic resource, allowing us to explore and make the most of our time in the area.
We highly recommend!
We spent off all weekend with friends on beautiful crystal lake. The property was amazing both in the woods and on the lake very quiet very clean and quaint! We liked that it was right on a five minute drive to Frankfort Where are we enjoy dining in the little town and the beach and the lighthouse.
We really enjoyed our stay! House was clean and well equipped. The beach was perfect for our kids. They played down there every evening. Looking forward to staying again.
We loved our stay at this unique cottage. Seeing the stars from the fire pit and listening to the waves were memorable and relaxing. The location is excellence, the house is cute and well stocked, and the owners were helpful to communicate with.
We look forward to staying again!
What a great place to stay! This cottage is extremely well stocked, and it feels as if you are staying in someone elseâs home, not a rental property. The property is private and quiet, and we enjoyed sitting on the dock in the evenings. Frankfort is super close and convenient, as is Sleeping Bear Dunes. Overall, a lovely weekend getaway!
My family and I had a wonderful time! We loved the sandy private beach, the beautiful views, and the clean and cozy home. We would love to come back another year!
I grew up spending my summers here since 1968 - my first dip in the waters of clear blue Crystal Lake was when I was 2 weeks old! Spending summers here was such a special part of my life growing up as was my mother and grandmother before her. We've been very fortunate to keep the property within the family for 5 generations and counting and one thing I find most rewarding is being able to share this special place with others.
Built in 1922 by my great grandparents, only recently has it been completely renovated bringing it up to 21st century standards but continues to hold the old world charm of a northern Michigan cottage. Plenty of room to spread out inside and out there is room to explore on land, in the water or climbing trees. The area abounds with adventure and is regularly featured as one of America's finest destinations, also known as "the other West Coast".
Centrally located midway between Frankfort and Beulah on the South shore of Crystal Lake and within a short drive to the southern tip of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore the cottage is centrally located to many of the areas best eateries and local attractions. Come stay with us and you won't want to leave!
