Notre maison de 1200 pieds carrés est située sur le lac Upper Herring à Frankfort, MI. Upper Herring est un magnifique lac tous sports situé à seulement 8 km du lac Michigan et à quelques minutes de plusieurs villes «Up North» par excellence. La maison peut accueillir jusqu'à 8 personnes. Il y a 2 chambres avec lits queen. La troisième chambre a 2 ensembles de lits superposés. Le canapé dans le grenier se transforme en lit double. La cour de plage de sable se trouve sur 80 pieds de façade sur le lac.

Sandy Shores a toutes les commodités modernes (sauf WIFI et climatisation). C'est le nord du Michigan ... qui a besoin de la climatisation ?? La télévision dans la salle familiale a Direct TV. La maison offre une grande terrasse sur la plage face au lac, 3 kayaks, un grand canoë de taille familiale, un foyer, un barbecue au charbon, un coffre à jouets avec des jouets de plage, des chaises longues, un grand quai, des jeux de société, des DVD, des livres, la vie vestes. Upper Lake Herring est situé sur une réserve ornithologique et abrite des pygargues à tête blanche, des hérons, des cygnes et de nombreuses autres espèces d'oiseaux et d'animaux sauvages comme les grandes tortues, les loutres et les cerfs.

Great Lake Get Away

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 kids (13, 10, and 6) for a week in July. We love Frankfort, and this cottage was in a great location to enjoy many of the things we love about the area. The kids caught fish, and we enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks.

My family and I throughly enjoyed our week long vacation at this lake front house. The house was cozy, comfortable, and had the space to dine for my husband and I and our five children. Sleeping & seating arrangements were plush. The lakeside deck provided us with breathtaking views and sunsets, providing great memories. The dock and water craft provided allowed for great family fun around the water. A canoe was available for fishing. The town of Frankfort was a nice get away and Lake Michigan provided opportunities to visit local restaurants, shops, and churches. We recommend this property to anyone looking for an excellent and relaxing stay! The host Chris was friendly, attentive, and easy to communicate with and provided lots of local recommendations. Perfect location that's a close drive to so many cool little towns, activities and M22! Great sized house for a family of four and kids loved the bunk beds. The host was super responsive and helpful! oh, and the sunsets….

Delightful spot!

A lovely restful place. Sunsets to die for. The lake and overall venue is quiet. Seven of us ages 7, 12, 14 and parents and grandparents -- delightful week of sandy beach, fishing, boating, kayaks, paddle boards and especially the "Towboggan!" We were new to the Frankfort/Benzonia area and fell in love with it.

Amazing escape

We had an amazing vacation at this property. The owner was incredibly helpful, courteous and kind. He made sure we had everything we needed. The house was sufficient for our group. A million dollar view!

Beautiful nightly sunsets, clean clear lake, quiet and close to many small cute towns. We made a good choice spending our honeymoon in Northern Michigan and we will definitely be back!

Great cottage

We had a blast. The sandy beach was perfect for the kids. The lake was very peaceful and quiet all week. Fishing was good. Location is excellent, downtown Frankort is very nice. We had a great time.

Great property and owner, great communications and amenities. Lake was difficult to fish and a lack of a dock that I could keep my boat was only reason I gave 4 stars on location. We enjoyed our stay!!!

Very nice stay up north

Very nice stay despite the weather. Nice house. Great location. Bike riding. Good food. Golf. Didn't make it into the kayaks secondary to the weather. Would definitely return to this rental in the future

Great vacation home

We rented this home with another family - there were 4 adults and 4 children. While the house is small, it is cozy and there was enough room for everyone. The sandy beach was a hit with the kiddos - they played there consistently throughout the visit. We enjoyed using the provided boats, grill and necessary kitchen supplies. It was easy to get from the house to nearby fun activities. The owners were prompt in replies when contacted and overall the experience was great!

Perfect Vacation Home!

This home has everything you need to enjoy a great northern Michigan vacation! Perfect sunsets every night, big windows to view the water, big deck, great big sand area & big firepit. Close to town for food runs but house is far enough away to relax. Satellite TV, full kitchen, spacious, we felt at home here! We used the canoe & kayaks everyday. Owner was very very easy to communicate with & emailed / text back within minutes every time. Would recommend this home to anyone!

Lovely place!

We had a wonderful week! The house had everything we needed in terms of amenities even down to board games for the kids. Being right on the lake was great and having access to the boats, life vests, fire pit, hammock, and sand toys meant that there was so much to do right right in our backyard. There really was something for everyone. The location is enchanting with spectacular sunsets, beautiful wildlife, the possibility of swimming and fishing right outside your door, a lovely town nearby for pizza and ice cream, or the quick run to the store for essentials. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back in the future.

Peaceful Lake Stay!

We loved our time on Upper Herring Lake! So peaceful and beautiful with great fishing, amazing sunsets, and a cozy, clean cottage. *NOTE THE NO A/C* I missed this on the listing but we were lucky to have cool nights and warm days so sleeping was still comfortable. Our kids loved playing in the large sandy area out front and we made good use of the paddleboards, canoe and kayaks. Also the pontoon was great for extra space to fish and hang out near the end of the dock. Chris was an excellent host/communicator and take his advice on Upriver Pizza...it's fantastic!

Fun and relaxation on a beautuful Michigan lake

What a terrific week! The house with its three bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and living and dining areas offered the perfect vacation week for our family of four, with room to spare. The pet friendly policy allowed us to bring our two dogs for the first time ever. Best of all was the sandy beach, dock, lakefront, and kayaks. The lake was quiet and great for fishing, and we enjoyed nightly fires at the firepit. The house is close for easy drives in to Frankfort for nice restaurants and shops, and just a little farther drive to Traverse City allowed for a great day of jet skiing and fun on the bay. We enjoyed our week to the fullest. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and care for our family having an easy, fun summer vacation!

Up North With Family

We had an excellent time at Sandy Shores! Location was a great stepping off point to many activities in the area. The home was very comfortable and the view of the lake from the family room/kitchen was spectacular. Chris was very responsive to inquires and provided additional information of the area. Due to the weather (cool & windy) we only got out on the lake with SUPs and Kayaks. Only call-out… we were aware of no internet but even my hotspot connectivity was spotty. It’s vacation so we were able to find some alternate solutions for family that needed to check in on work or school. I would highly recommend a trip to Sandy Shores, you will not be disappointed.

Anniversary Get Away

We rented this beachfront home in late September for our anniversary. Due to the later date it wasn't super warm or sunny so we didn't really experience all the lake had to offer from the water sports perspective. The home is very nice inside and offered everything we needed for our stay. The only negative I would add would be that the house was kind of overrun with spiders and webs. Being by the water you do get more of this to deal with but it seemed that no one had addressed it for quite some time. The owner was gracious about this issue and assured me it would be taken care of right away. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Family Water Retreat

We had a great time at the cottage! The lake was a perfect temperature for swimming, fishing and watching gorgeous sunsets (when we weren’t in town getting ice cream). This was the perfect place to spend a week in our swimsuits and forget about deadlines and other trappings of life. Our kids loved the beach and making s’mores in the fire pit. We all enjoyed the kayaks and family canoe rides before sunset. And the lake is teeming with fish. My daughters learned to fish on this trip and the activity didn’t disappoint. Overall, the cottage provided us the mental break and recharge we all needed. Chris (owner) was incredibly helpful and accessible throughout the process. The pictures accurately display the property. We are looking forward to returning next year!

Perfect Family Vacation

Our kids range from 5-16 and everyone had fun during our stay! We loved that Frankfort was a short drive for dinners or shopping- we found that even in mid July, the crowds were not too bad and the beach was not overly saturated with people. The house is lovely- great views, comfortable accommodations, and clean. We made a couple of breakfasts and dinners and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The yard was great for reading, playing, or fires. We fished from the dock most evenings (after 7 when the water calmed down). The kayaks and paddleboards were fun too! We watched a family of bald eagles over the lake one night and a black bear crossed the road one morning on our way to town. This is a very special place and would be a wonderful #puremichigan experience for anyone looking to enjoy "up north". Chris was very helpful during check in and during our stay. We're already talking about another trip in the fall for salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We first vacationed in Northern Michigan in 2006. We had heard from friends how amazing it was "Up North". So, instead of heading south to Destin for a week vacation, we rented a house on Upper Lake Herring, in Frankfort, Michigan. We had the time of our lives. We loved it so much, we bought a house several doors down from the home we rented.

Unfortunately, as the kids get older and our lives get busier, we aren't able to go Up North as much as we'd like.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Sandy Shores, as our daughter, Caroline, named our Up North home, has amazing sunsets and a beach right on the water. Upper Lake Herring is located on a bird sanctuary. So, in addition to the plethora of wildlife in the area, much of the land on, and surrounding, Upper Herring is owned and protected by the state of Michigan. We are one of only 60 or so homes on the lake. Over two thirds of the shoreline is uninhabited. It is a smaller lake (about 600 acres), but boasts warmer waters, excellent fishing and is an all sports lake, so bring your jet ski or boat!
