My sister wanted to go up north for her birthday and we chose this VRBO for it's location and price. The cabin was nicely appointed. Parking was super close. The cabins are a bit close together so there was a bit of noise from the neighbors, but nothing excessive. Everyone was friendly! The lake itself was very warm. Pretty Sandy by shore. I brought a paddleboard and it was a lovely lake to paddle around in! This particular cabin didn't have a great path to the water (2' drop), but the neighbors didn't mind us using their little beach. The enclosed sunroom/patio was great to sit in while the sun was coming up.When we arrived the cabin did smell like cigarette smoke. The windows were already open and eventually it aired out. Not sure if the prior renters smoked or if it came in through the window. And we did find some cigarette butts and weed butts in the patio room and on the picnic table outside that we cleaned up.Overall, would absolutely stay again! Richie was a great host, very responsive and friendly!
This tiny cabin offers BIG benefits! Itâs right on beautiful Carp Lake! The cabins are all along a gorgeous stretch of beach. It comes with kitchen utensils, towels, and a quiet atmosphere to star gaze, boat, or sit by the fire.
The property was not very clean. It was run down and cobwebs all over. There were stains on the sheets and matress pad. Not all windows had screens. The screen door on back porch has a huge gap and let all the bugs in. The location on the other hand was very nice. It too bad there was a tree down outside in the lake outside our cabin. The owners residence was pretty junky. The place could definitely use some TLC. All in all just seemed very run down. To bad could be very cute.
If you like rustic cabins on a fabulous lake, youâve found the perfect place. Pet friendly. Could use some more silverware, but we brought our own plastic.
We love coming here every winter. It is quiet, cozy, tidy, and simply all we need. Ritchie is great - very welcoming. Clyde's across the road makes a great pizza too!
The cabins were cute, cozy, and a perfect quick getaway. The view of the lake was beautiful, would be a great summer spot to enjoy the water. The bed was not super comfy, but for the price it was perfect. We brought our dog and he enjoyed the cabin too! We would return.
Everything you need for a comfortable getaway..All of your basic needs are met for a worry free trip. The host was very hospitable and kind. Every cabin is spaced out enough for privacy or close enough to join and meet new friends. I Will return in the future
The cabin was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the view of the lake and the stars. The sun rises from over the lake were absolutely breathtaking. Check in process was easy and communication with property owner Ritchie was good. We look forward to staying at 7Lakeside Cabins again real soon.
My husband and I wanted to see Mackinac Island. The Mitigwa cabin was the perfect place to stay. The ferry is about 15 minutes away.
When done with the day trip, the Mitigwa cabin was wonderful to come back to. Nestled right on Carp Lake, we had a campfire every night. The cabin was clean and brought back memories of my grandfather's cabin in northern Wisconsin. Richie was the perfect host. He was pleasant, responsive and there if we needed anything. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay there.
The cabin was as advertised. Very cute old-style cabin. Windows were kept open due to the wonderful breeze blowing off from the lake. We would spend time on the porch when the sun came up and, in the afternoon, would sit out by the lake and watch the people going around on their boats. It was very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay again!!!
I rented this cabin online never having been to Mackinaw City. At the time I didn't realize it was a VRBO rental. With a 15 Hour drive we didn't get there until 9 PM but we called Ritchie the Owner and he was very understanding and said he would be there to welcome us which he was. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The only problem I had was the shower nozzle was HORRILBILE! The water just SPRAYED out in a mist!
Born and raised in Northern Michigan, Iâve worked with the special needs community for over 30 years. By recently purchasing a little 7 cabin lakefront resort, I was able to transition my career to incorporate my love for camping, outdoor activity, and local history in a way I can share with others. I offer vacation rentals of vintage rustic lakeside cabins that were established in 1929. I welcome guests who love the camping experience while venturing to the Mackinac area historic sites, adventurers who come to enjoy outdoor activities, or those who are simply here to relax and enjoy the areaâs natural beauty.
I fell in love with this property because it encompasses the style of vintage cabins from days gone by, back when times were simpler. The cabins offer the nostalgic feel of the camping experience I remember enjoying as a child.
Cabin #5 - "Mitigwa" Mitigwa is a Native American word meaning "Maker of Men". This adorable little 1 bedroom cabin at 280 sq ft is a favorite among couples or those looking to share an intimate getaway.
