Makwa North in St Ignace â Godâs Country by Mackinac Island
Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this 100-year old quaint house. Enjoy a beautiful sunrise while sipping a cup of coffee on the front porch in the morning and BBQ hot dogs over the open fire in the fenced backyard. This four bedroom house is within walking distance to the downtown area with Mackinac Island ferry docks, restaurants, shops and more!. Biking and ATV, snowmobile trails are just down the road. Ample parking in driveway and the Casino is 4.5 miles away.
Pros: right off snowmobile trail (just go straight down the road and you are on it)Tvs with streaming, wifi, functional kitchen.Host is very good with communication!Cons: old house so issue with heating (main floor bedrooms get COLD if you close the door), house foundation is settled? and everything is now leaning. Upstairs 'bedrooms' have no privacy, they are open, no doors, maybe put up even a curtain?Living room lacks seating for how many people the house sleeps. It worked for what we needed but one in our group does construction work so he practically had convulsions. I understood why the price was so good and was willing to accept. Maybe add small baseboard heaters to the main floor bedrooms for winter time. It was EXCEPTIONALLY cold when we stayed (morning temp was -5 with windchills in the -15-20). Check in/out was easy. Issues that we had that were resolvable the host fixed asap. Everything was clean and safe.
This place feels like a "home", not just a house. The decor and fireplace make you feel like you're staying at a friend's place. The host is more than accommodating and very easy to reach. I have booked this listing multiple times and will continue to do so as long as it's available.
Very cute clean house. Great location. It was a very quick walk to the ferry and also walking distance to the shops downtown. We really appreciated the fenced in back yard and the fact the the fences we tall and secure. No worries about our dogs making an escape.
Stayed here during the Antique Tractor Bridge Crossing.Perfect location! Walkable from where we parked our tractors, the Island Ferry and restaurants. Plenty of room for everyone. Adorable little house. hopefully will be able to stay here again!
