The house was clean and the manager was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location. Set in the woods and very private and peaceful. Beautiful view of Atkins Bay. Close to Popham beach. Was wonderful!
We had a great time. We enjoyed the view from the deck every morning and every night. The home was spacious and comfy and we truly enjoyed our time there. We will definitely go back.
Peaceful, comfortable and close to a superlative beach!
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation here. We slept well and enjoyed drinking our coffee while looking out on the water and islands from the deck. The house is close to Popham Beach, which is absolutely the best I've visited in Maine and great for families--it changes dramatically with the tides and there's lots to explore. We cooked most of our meals in the well-appointed kitchen, but ate a few great meals out in Bath and Brunswick. The owner was very responsive. I hope to return!
It's a nice house with a lovely view. The third bedroom is not self-contained and has no closet provision; the neighboring bedroom's inhabitants have to walk through to get to bathroom or stairs. Many of the windows don't open and one that did had no screen; only the downstairs bedroom had an air conditioner so open windows are important (and I prefer fresh air anyway). I was expecting something slightly spiffier given the price, but it was still a pleasure to be there.
We arrived on a dark and foggy night so we had a bit of trouble finding the cabin/house at first but Anthony was able to help us find our way on a quick call. The next morning the fog had cleared completely and we were greeted by a very nice water view! The water seems so much closer in person than it does in the listing pictures so I was happy with that. It's a really cool view actually (or maybe just for me as a person who doesn't spend much time observing the tides) because you get to see the differences between high and low tides.
The cabin/house itself is really nice. It is spacious and bright with big windows throughout. The kitchen was well equipped, the television has a Roku, and the wifi worked well. The upstairs did appear to have some child-proofing already in place which was helpful for us as we were traveling with two young kids. A lot of the outlets were covered and there was a baby-gate to cover the stairs. I wouldn't say the baby-gate is foolproof since it is held in place by eye-hooks and one of the eye-hooks was missing from the wall but we were able to make it work. There is plenty of parking and a nice big mud-room is available to organize your outdoor gear if you're visiting for outdoor activities like hiking or fishing.
Negatives: the cell phone service was terrible (something I've found to be the case in much of Phippsburg which isn't the fault of the owners, of course), and we couldn't get the jacuzzi tub working (in fairness, we did not bother reaching out for help from the owner), and the loud wooden stairs (tough with young sleepers nearby).
I would 100% stay in this house again if I was visiting the area!
Such a beautifully quiet space (for excellent sleep!). The swinging couch on the porch was a peaceful place to enjoy morning coffee and look out over the water. The hosts were fantastic â they left easy to follow instructions, a simple lock box entry, and they even went above and beyond to return a lost earring! The house is fun with quirky details and a beautiful little greenhouse full of yellow wild flowers on the lawn!
